Just passed my interview and starting training in April. You have helped my nerves. I will be booking myself for some swimming survival lessons to build my confidence up more.
I don’t know if you know but Ryanair now have a thing where if you are a UK citizen.. you’re guaranteed a base in the UK and are trained in the UK, so it will be no more random bases anywhere in Europe, just in England or Scotland! And on crewlink, I believe they also have EU cabin crew and Buzz/Polish cabin crew applications - so in a way I think that could reassure more British and Scottish people that they’re closer to home :) great video! X
Thats so great to hear! I was worried about that. As much as I'd like to go to Germany, I don't really want to be in the middle of nowhere and have to spend loads. At least if its London there's a few more options and you know your surroundings
Hi Tabitha i was Ryanair cabin crew back in 2013 based in Dublin and i did my training in Hahn we did our swimming exam in an outside pool, it was absolutely freezing and our training course was in June 😂😂😂 we didn’t do anything like your swimming drill we just swam one length without a life jacket. then got into pairs and pulled eachother along the the pool and THAT was it .🙈
Tabitha Laker yeh outside🤣 when we got there all of us were looking at eachother like 😐 I think i left for the same reasons as you i was based in Dublin but come from Liverpool, would of even happy with Liverpool or Manchester as my base, so on my days off i used to make the 30minute flight home cause i hated being in dublin. i only stayed at Ryanair for 3 months. Would you even happier being based in London Luton or London stansted ?
You just took a big weight from my shoulders. My training starts in 45 days and I got myself in swimming lessons as soon as they accepted me. I am confident in water and can swim pretty well but due to being sedentary I'm not good at swimming long distances, even 25m is a struggle...except on my back, then I can swim for as long as they want me to. Knowing that this is more about being confident and being able to complete tasks in water is a huge relief.
Appreciate you so much for this 🙏 thank you so much! Are you still with Ryanair? I'm still waiting for further training dates as they've been delayed as we've still not received half the new MAX aircraft yet 😬
Thank you so much, I just did swimming test with Salamair but they told me I need to swim long distance breathing 😮💨, I will still do the test again wish me luck 🙏🏽
I have been loving your videos recently as I am trying to understand this job. I have two questions as well: Are (teeth) braces allowed for the training course? I am at the ending months of my orthodontic therapy. Are there any days off during the training course? To hopefully be able to fly back home for a day to get them fixed and removed when I need to. I have already applied and informed me that they would contact me in less than a month and I am afraid I will get rejected before even getting the chance to try.
That's great to hear! Glad these videos have been helpful. Yes, I think braces are allowed. Yes, there are days off on the training course. You should wait for a reply. No need to be afraid.
Hey Sophia! Glad you found it to be helpful. You should remove your contact lenses before entering the pool. You can dive or just enter the pool slowly.
Just to be clear. It is one of the part of the test is jump in the pool WITHOUT life vest and you have to grab a life vest that floating in the water, wear it and inflate it? Or you dive in with the vest in your hand? Thank you sweet.
Don't you get any practice before? No training? It's just the test without receiving any instructions on how to do it before (I mean days or weeks before)?
No practice there & no specific instructions before. But you can practice before the training course or go to the swimming pool on your days off while at the training course, before the test. That might help to feel more confident with swimming.
Hi! Great video, helps a lot! I have a question about diving. I wear contact lenses and without them I am (almost) blind 😂 what are my options? Thanks a lot 🤗
Tabitha and visitors, just to understand: being approved in the interview, you went to the training. During training you had a swimming exam? Is it eliminatory? And did they measure your height? Or have you heard about it?
Swimming exam is mandatory because, as a flight attendant you need to be able to swim. If you cannot swim, before the training course, you can get some lessons. You also need to meet the height requirement. I don't specifically remember them measuring my height, but if you are very short or very tall they may measure you. This is from a job description: • You must be between 5 "2 (157 cm) and 6" 2 (188 cm) in height. • You must be able to swim 25 meters unaided and confidentiality. I hope this helps 😊
@@TabithaLaker thank you for reply. I am flight attendant in Brazil and here we don’t have any swimming test but the airline measure the candidates, and I am in the Ryanair,s hiring process, that is why I ask you. Thank you very much, you help me a lot
You mentioned in the video that when you are doing a ditching training exercise. You would be wearing a uniform if this happens for real. Why doesn't the airline company allow you to wear your uniform for doing this ditching training ? If that is not allowed what about clothes closely resembling your uniforms.. for example. Men wearing a shirt and trousers and for the women a blouse skirt or trousers. Swimming in these clothes would be more genuine than wearing leggings and shorts. For example when a air hostess has to jump into the water wearing a skirt how will the skirt affect her swimming
Weird question but I have a shaved head it looks good and all but should I wear a wig for the interview/job or is this type of hairstyle ok on women? Also you look beautiful i love your lipstick 💄
As bad as this sounds, I think you should wear a wig to the interview. Just to make sure you get the job. But I think you also need to be prepared for them to comment on your hair when you start working. Because if it is not acceptable to them, they will definitely say something. It's messed up but it's the truth.
