Oh, for good knees and legs for walking. I used to walk 4-5 miles a day in Honolulu in the 1970s and 80s, but those times are over. I just past 80 a few days ago. Thank you for taking me on this walking tour.
I mentioned at the beginning that I had visited a dangerous part of Saigon in 1966, Southwest of Nguyey Hue Blvd, somewhere along the river dock area. Now I recall that the danger was not pickpocketers but Viet-Cong, and after walking around for a while, I believe some local suggested it would be better if I leave for my own safety. As you have experienced, speaking the local language is a very big factor in getting smiles and good advice.
I lived in District 8 for several years and never worried about thieves, being robbed or any kind of dangers. Roamed around the neighborhoods too. Recognized some of the streets and buildings you passed and just like you, got lots of friendly smiles. Stay safe. New subscriber now.

Chris, this has to be one of your best videos. The wife and myself loved seeing your visit to District 8 and how well you interacted with all of the people you came in contact with. Different countries. Different cultures. I never felt safer in life, until I lived in Vietnam. You can see everyone open the front door wide every morning. That's how safe it is in Vietnam. If your door is closed for some reason. The neighbors would see how you are doing.
Many vloggers make the same mistake. They all go to a "dangerous" area and claim that it is, in fact, safe. However, they dont mention that going to the same place AT NIGHT may be a different story.

Unfortunately I think development pushes a lot of people deeper into poverty and also causes more mental issues due to pressure of life, so you end up getting a more unsafe environment. That’s my guess at least, haha.
Glad you enjoy the videos with Max and Brandon (Phuc Map) too! Max will be coming up to the north to film videos with me for about 2 weeks so a lot more content with him will be coming!
Above all thanks for watching and stay safe!

@@dsyy90210Are you talking about China🧐

Maybe because its so easy to get a gun in your country....
You’re so brave, Chris. I grew up in this area but been away for so long. I’m not sure i’ll be able to venture alone when i’m back in Vietnam lol
Haha it’s actually not bad; it’s probably better than before if anything! Thanks for watching!
Me , the same
What a video Chris, you are going to places not too many tourists would go. The part when you are eating hu tieu and chat with the people around there was awesome. Keep it up.
Totally agree, their is something wholesome and beautiful about having a meal with complete strangers and connecting on a deeper level as if you knew them for years. Been debating moving out of Mainland America too :/.
I am so proud of you...your language acquisition skills just amaze me...thanks for some genuine inspiration.
Thank you for showing another side of my country, not a bit of hard-feeling whatsoever ❤️
I appreciate that! ☺️

All the cities in Vietnam are not dangerous to your life, just beware of your belongings...
If You are normal -there is also no danger for your belongings...(try the same in Dar es Sallam or Lusaka)
You helped the world discover the true heart of the people of Vietnam when you sat down at the roadside food vendor and everyone rallied around to eat alongside you. The locals seemed curious and immediately opened up to share food-eating preferences. Very cool!
The guys at the Hủ Tiếu.....
Seeing Saigon people with the Southern accents were trying to correct their "d" and "v" sounds to explain for Chris what the sauces are is so cute! And the way Chris tried to understand them is adorable too
Him: này để chấm bò diên
Chris: để chấm riêng à?
Him: chấm bò diên, bò Viên, bò Viên.
Anyways, yes! I do agree with Chris that stereotypes and news can really give the place a bad image. Sometimes you have to go down the local areas experience it yourself to know what the place actually is like.
That scene was funny!
Solo in Saigon's most dangerous district clip is very interesting to watch. I always support your new vidoe. Have fun.

My man, you are adventurous af. I’m american Vietnamese and have been here for years and haven’t once been to any of the districts you’ve mentioned. I can’t imagine why either? I also have to say if all the countries I’ve been to, San Francisco gave me two of my scariest experiences walking around.
you are Vietnamese and don't get it. Vietnamese aren't 13-percenters
When you think some people is weird, in reverse they think you’re weird too. Everything works in two ways.
That’s true!
It’s only weird from an outsider point of view but it’s perfectly normal for them 👍
Only the one thinks himself is crazy is not the crazy one!

Except for innocent living breathing feeling animals.
@@christel6462 Are you Vegan?
@@jennifera4222 vegan or not, I wouldnt torture the animals i was going to eat for weeks on end. Cutting off dogs limbs & letting them scream stuck in cages with 10 other terrified dogs.

Those people are weird because they don't know the good way to communicate so you won't have a good conversation there. They usually speak "hello", "hey", "ok", and some short words, in their language.
