Joffrey was 100% justified in executing Ned and y'all can't change my mind. It was an insanely stupid decision, and incredibly cruel to Sansa, but Ned confessed treason. Traitors in Westeros are to be executed
I love it when Joffrey goes like “You can’t talk to me like that,” even though he has the highest stature in all of Westeros; literally his uncle is roasting him even though Joffrey has more control and power, it just shows how pathetic and incompetent he is 😂
Joffrey is powerless now because all of his vassals (i.e Tywin) are busy fighting in the field against the majority of Westeros who didn't like Robert to begin with and who don't like the centralization of power. If Tyrion had slapped Joffrey when Joffrey's supporters were present he'd have lost both his hand and his head.
@Jacob Sirak Love and respect? Sorry to disturb the peace in Fantasyland but the strongest Kings rule by consent, iron-willed consent but consent nonetheless, frankly Tywin Lannister is a credible and respected figure in Westerosi politics given his station as an elder and lord of one of the Great Houses of Westeros, Joffrey however is seen as an inexperienced, youthful King who is prone to anger and recklessness; this is why when Joffrey names Tywin his Hand and PROTECTOR of the Realm, all responsibility is deferred to him since by guarding the King, House Lannister guards the realm; therefore the Throne is powerless since the Throne doesn't protect anybody, even the Mad King wasn't totally independent, there was no "Targaryen Army", it was comprised of Crownland Houses and the armies of Dorne and the Reach, and lords within every kingdom. Westeros has great disdain for boy Kings, look at Robb Stark, even when rallying his vassals you have lords like the Greatjon shouting "I'll not follow a boy so green he pisses grass!" at his 'liege lord', why? Because Robb Stark isn't seen as credible by his own lords, including the Karstarks whose Lord doesn't believe Robb wants to avenge their fallen; and the Boltons who view Robb as "too soft" for the horrors of war against a rogue House. Same goes for Renly, when Lady Catelyn Stark (an elder in her own right) sees Renly's attitude to war, she remarks "They are the knights of summer yet winter is coming." viewing them as green boys who are unprepared for the end of the Long Summer and the brutality of war. Put simply, it's a boomer generation coming to power and all the elders of Westeros (who hold all the power -cough- a gerontocracy) view them as way more susceptible to failure. Tywin Lannister even remarks that he views Stannis Baratheon as the most dangerous of the rebels, given that he's the only one among them who has actually participated in war 17 years prior, and has great experience managing forces at war, though the show ruined Stannis, the books actually shows how decisive he is at seizing power back from Renly, even though he has never set foot in the Stormlands in nearly 2 decades. Joffrey isn't weak because the Throne is weak, he's weak because of the perception that's he's "just a boy" and needs time to grow up. That's why Cersei was trying to take charge of Joffrey, and even when Joffrey acted out violently, lords like Ned Stark (when confronting Joffrey's claim in the Throne Room) just continued viewing Cersei as the real threat/power. In practice, it's the same with Tommen when Kevan Lannister returns as Hand of the King & Protector of the Realm. Olenna Tyrell deals with him, Cersei & Jaime are forced to negotiate with him to defeat the High Sparrow, why? Because like in Ancient China and anywhere else, boy-kings are puppets until they're grown men.
And to add on to my Robb Stark point, Robb's main puppet master would've been Ser Brynden Tully, a famous and highly experienced battle commander and warrior, who was responsible for Robb's early victories in the war and had such great respect among the Riverlords that his capture of Riverrun with a few hundred men was enough to trigger a full scale rebellion against House Frey which ended up forcing Jaime to bring back the entire Lannister Army to quell the clamor and uproar in the Riverlands. In the books it included other great houses such as the Blackwoods (who ended up fighting House Bracken)

One of my favorite things I have heard about stories is that "If a character can make you feel emotions towards them, positive or negative, then that character was a success."
Well, provided that the emotion you feel was the emotion you were intended to feel. If George wanted you to like Jeoffrey, then that would be nothing short of a spectacular failure.

The fact that nobody likes Joffrey just goes to show that Jack Gleeson is one hell of an actor. It's one thing to play a character that everyone loves, but when everyone hates your character as intended, you know you've done your job right. The same goes for Iwan Rheon

Tyrion: idiot!
Joffrey: you are talking to a KING!
Tyrion: the king is my nephew, and my nephew is a fool!
The "vicious idiot" line is the exact moment where Tyrian became my favorite.
Absolutely!
I love it when Joffrey goes like “You can’t talk to me like that,” even though he has the highest stature in all of Westeros; literally his uncle is roasting him even though Joffrey has more control and power, it just shows how pathetic and incompetent he is 😂
But he doesn't have more power. He knows there is limits to what he can do. Tyrion held all the power at this moment in time
Joffrey is powerless now because all of his vassals (i.e Tywin) are busy fighting in the field against the majority of Westeros who didn't like Robert to begin with and who don't like the centralization of power.
Joffrey never at any moment ever had power lol
Hands down to Jack who played Joffrey, truly was one of the best actors on the show.
