I received the Cuisinart as a wedding present 9 years ago. It's still going strong! I've loved using it for brewing the perfect cup of English Breakfast tea or hot chocolate.
Yours lasted longer than mine. I liked it till it quit last month. I found the level gauge to be almost impossible to read, cleaning difficult because of the relatively small hole at top. It forms residue at the bottom that you have to clean out, so the opening makes that a real challange. Pot should not be a challenge to clean.
@@ghanus2009 I agree, it's challenging to clean. A little CLR has been helpful. Unfortunately, the springs popped off of the lid recently and I can't get the top cover back on. 🤦♀️ Still works, but, ugh.
I decided to check out this video while binge watching this channel and was so happy to see my kettle is the number 1 pick. I've had it for 5 years using it daily and it's still like new (use filtered water when possible to limit mineral deposits). I can't recommend it enough.
We have clear kettles in the UK but if you have hard water they quickly leave the kettle looking dirty and foggy; I got fed up with having to clean it on a daily basis and got shot of ours. The rest of the kettle concept by oxo brew though was particularly good.
@@fahed7316 water with lots of minerals in it. I’m from Denmark and it’s the same thing. We live on mostly chalk based grounds and therefore our water has a lot of chalk in it.
@@fahed7316 Unless you live in an area with particularly soft water you'll be able to taste the difference between your tap water and bottled water from a shop, assuming your tap water is unfiltered and safe to drink. Virtually all UK kitchen tap water is safe to drink.
Do you have an option to use water softeners in you home / apartment ... sorry flat? There are under sink versions that work, Im not talking the filter, but a real softener. I get you on the film build up, but cannot blame the kettle. Or consider after market water?
I have the Cuisinart one which also has an oolong button, I've had it for 5 years and love it so much. I use it daily and it looks and operates like brand new which I think that's due to trying to always use the filtered fridge water or filtered tap water (set up a filter system with the sink plumbing, I don't mean a faucet attachment) to minimize hard water deposits.
Doesn't look like a great video when it's cheerfully advertising "cordless design", "auto-shutoff", and "LED indicator" which all have been baseline features in every electric kettle for at least half a century. I'm surprised you could only find them after extensive research and testing. This is not a good video.
Hmmm... Interesting review, but the reson I am watching this is that My Cuisinart electric Kettle (#1 Best Overall Kettle here) died. I have this one. From the get go I got frustrated with it because that level window you see shown here barely tells you how much water is inside. you have to get down and look at it just right because the plastic window obscures the actual level. I just fill the water container by feel (sticking my finger inside the opening, or creaking my neck to look inside). That should nto be the case with a kettle that costs $100. Major oversight by Cuisinart who typically makes good products. It always heated water ok, and the 30 min timer works good. When cleaning, if you get the buttons wet, this thing will not work at all. It will need to dry in the sun for 2-3 days. All you get are blinking handle lights showing a safety measure is induced. Thats a good thing, I guess. So a water kettle that you cannot get wet is a problem to consider. You cannot clean the handle with much more than a damp paper towel. The top opening is small, you cannto fit your hand inside to clean it. Cleaning the inside where that hot water residue forms is difficult to clean. I have to use a wooden spatula with a scotch brite pad to reach in and clean it out, which is a real pain. That is needed about monthly. Then one day last month, it just stopped heating. It makes a steady beep, and water gets mildly warm, so thats it. It lasted about 3 years. The worst part is that it happened ona day I REALLY needed some hot coffee. :) In the market for a new one, Im looking at the OXO where you can clearly see the level, clean it. Im curious about the temp setting dial if were were to splash onto it. This is a test NO ONE sems to do. They only state positives as if paid by the manufacturers. I'd like review that state teh pros and cons of each. This guys voice is creep too... very "marketing" sounding. Who talks like that?
This is nonsense. You linked efficiency with keeping the water at the desired temperature. Are you a wizard or an engineer? Because if that water is being kept HOT, that means energy is going into the system right? Why would you imply that it just magically keeps the water warm? That uses electricity too. Im searching the internet for highly efficient kettles and all Im getting is this shite: fancy kettles with lights, that look pretty and "efficiently" burn electricity to keep water at 90c whilst the user is on tiktok.
Well said. I got irked by this reviewers choice of words randomly sprinkled in. Efficient would indicate that it is highly insulated, which these are not. Or perhaps with heating speed, but that is not how he used it. On the Breville part he said "i comes with a 360 stainless steel base.. but ALL of them do. That also implies that it is round, which it is not. But the multiple buttons on bottom, what happens if water get spilled on them, does it shut down like on the cuisinart? The temp buttons that indicate "oolong" etc are also on the Cuisinart. I rather just set the temp for what I want. 190 for brewing pour over, a bit more, or less for tea, depending which one I am having, or boiling for boiling water purposes..

I had the Cusinart PerfectTemp and it broke in under 2 years of use in a 2 person household with gentle use.
Just bought myself No.5 clear glass one. It looks great in our kitchen.

Electric is electric, vs one that is say, stove top.
