The characters are very strong, but this doesn't look like an anniversary banner. It looks like an excellent end of month banner. IMO anniversary is a perfect time to have special versions of characters. For example, they could have saved Kenpachi to release Kenpachi bankai on a anniversary banner in the future.
Legit they could’ve done bankai Kenny next year when he’s revealed and instead done an original design at least for this year. Tybw banners are cool, but they feel too basic for anni design wise

I said it on the first trailer and i say it again, I don't think that zaraki is a character with enough weight for an anniversary event, much less with Gremmy. As much hype that they are, zaraki is at the best a deluxe secondary, i think that for a anniversary would be better more important characters, like ichigo and his group, or the main villains, this event could easily be just another anime banner, they didn't even tried to make anything minimally original, like when they did with mugetsu, 2nd and 8th anni Ichigo, turned into a character and gave a whole moveset for a form that only appeared for a second. Zaraki and gremmy are literally just what appeared on the anime, they didn't even made something new with their special move, like with white (at least i don't remember him using that special move in the anime), is exactly what happened at the anime (and a scene that is not even the peak of the fight, surely the most impacting one, but far from their peak on that fight). I'm utterly disappointed but I'll still try to get both of them, because they're still anni characters

If cour 3 starts in October then it will probably end in December or early January like cour 1 that will line my suggested dumb idea up with the release window in which they release the characters which is usually 6+ months after their anime debut and Gerard vs the captains will probably be the most hype inducing event in that cour.

I hope they will let fans design the characters at some point and see how its turns out, because designing original characters is not so easy especially for it to fit in a work with a certain style like bleach

I have been saving orbs since 6th anni, didn't summon on 7th anni, 7th eoy, 8th anni or anything in between. I only summoned for 8th eoy yhwach. I have like 26k ready and I wanted an original aizen, yhwach or even ichigo or rukia. And at least I am speaking about the issues instead of some pushovers saying,"eh whatever, at least the characters are strong." or spite talkers calling anyone who has issue with the character selection a rukia fan.

Tbh im skipping this banner and go for step 5 on the tybw on mashio for pvp. I will say as the game is in it 9th year, they need to let sekimon tower mode allow you to do all of it instead of do 1 of each, that way you can get zengetsu tickets and more gem for later banners. Plus add more gems so it make getting to step 10 fair for f2p, overwise you get a banner you need but skip due to pool. I've skip many bammers to the shunshi banner and got him, did 8 in swimsuit for 1 5 star and it was a dub. Make arena better and rewarding and sekimon. Plus add more story's on the chronicle story we only got 3 parts. Im still waiting for more characters we have little of like tuski (orhime friend), bount characters, 2.0 on movie characters
I'm happy for the Kenpachi and Gremmy fans, but this is a fat L in terms of anniversary. This banner could have been a regular end of month later in the year, but we get shafted with canon characters for the second year in a row. I'll give last year a pass because it was different, but if this is the future of anniversary, then the excitement is just not there anymore. Anniversary should feel special, not like a regular banner with broken characters. This should have easily been Yhwach because the timing was perfect and they mucked it up as usual. I guess the only good thing I have to say about this is at least it wasn't Rukia's year because if we got a canon Yhwach or Rukia for anniversary, that would have made this even more disappointing that their one chance would have been wasted. Again, I'm happy for the fans of these characters, y'all eating good right now, but this doesn't come close to the hype of past anniversaries. I know a mob will be mad I call this an L when they say its a W, and that's fine, you can ignore me and the others that feel similarly, but when its someone like Rukia's turn and you scream L, I'll be ignoring you just the same, unless its canon again then I'll be calling it an L too. I prefer canon over the game original looks. Most look silly and probably were only made because bleach had no content. Now we have the anime back so of course they would return to canon characters again.

Seasonal variations and original designs create opportunities to do something else with the characters outside their canon abilities, i.e. use different statuses because some of us are tired of Ichigo having weaken, lacerate, or no status at all for every unit. Fact is, the game has survived so long because they dare do something outside the bare minimum of copy and paste to keep the game fresh. And no, just because the anime is back doesn't mean they can only do canon. They were doing canon manga characters before hand and making content with the tie in novels. Yes, this is the time to capitalize on the Bloodwarfare arc, but the point of anniversary was to give something hype and usually this was done by being original, not throwing out end of month characters with slightly better kits. Canon is fine, but it has its limitations and gets dry fast and most agree, canon is not hype enough for anniversary which is the core complaint.

I wouldn't be too opposed to original designs if they didn't look so silly and out of place most of the time. The normal looks are iconic and hype is subjective. Pretty sure most anniversaries aren't game originals right, it was just something they did for a little bit. But still, the strong canon forms have always been something more hype to me as that is what I have come to like about the characters

This is my best case scenario as Kenpachi is my favorite and its been awhile since the last one. Im not a fan of the game original designs really so I'm glad they avoided that and used the fresh anime look. Gremmy is meh but if i needed him to get Kenpachi then I'm fine. Rukia can be part 2, i think she's on the same tier as orihime and chad for character hype so didn't expect her to headline.

Based solely on the trailer, I don’t see how people didn’t see it was gonna be Kenpachi and Gremmy. I’ve seen a lot of people say it should’ve been Rukia instead. While I do love Rukia and can’t wait for her Bankai remake, there was NOTHING in the trailer that implied her, or Renji for that matter. The biggest giveaway (that even KLab made note of) was the ground breaking at the end of the trailer, clearly referencing to Kenpachi busting out of the stage during the fight. The blue explosions was likely Gremmy’s selfmade bombs and Kenpachi did multiple slashes throughout the fight. The breaks in the Anni title is could referencing Kenpachi breaking out of Gremmy’s imagined space. There was a lot of evidence pointing to it being these two. I understand if you don’t like the character choices, but to say that it should’ve been someone else, even though the trailer was clearly in one direction, is very stupid to me. Besides Gremmy, who else would’ve been with Kenpachi that would’ve worked with the trailer? Anyway, W theme, W characters, W skills and kits, W news, and W anniversary.

Single killers and Grammy being the better anni unit is such a buzz kill. Why couldn't they give them one killer + and one regular killer? We have a new transformation mechanic and it's used on two characters that don't actually transform (unlike Rukia, Renji, mask or as nodt). The banner format changing is good but this is pretty like warm as far as character hype goes. Hopefully pull them over the year from brave souls tickets.
I get the whole “how could they make a minor character like gremmy an Ani unit it should’ve been a different character” I like ichigo and aizen too but it’s about damn time we got a lil variety, I can’t be the only one that thought it was a lil annoying and boring when we just kept getting cool and unique designs/ super broken units of the same 4 characters.
I can see where their mind was for the anni tbh. TYBW anime based, and it looks to be top moments from both cours so far. White is a part of Ichigo's genetics, which allowed Ichigo to finally get his true shikai, whereas everyone was excited for Kenny vs. Gremmy because we finally got to see Kenpachi's shikai after so many years just for him to test it out against one of the strongest Sternritter. Am I happy about the pick? Not really, but I understand it. Hopefully, we'll get Bankai Rukia and True Bankai Renji for pt2
It was very predictable it would be then but I'm dissapointed mostly for their visuals. Yes, the special attacks look great, But kenny's sword looks SO DOWNSIZED in his model, his normal attacks look kinda basicd and lame. Gremmy as well, no morr of the spacial summoning attack, the hand one and the block of wster one look so weird. For an anniversary, they really seemed to go kinda uncreative on the annimations
Let me just say at the beginning that I was satisfied with the previous anniversaries (so that people wouldn't say that I was complaining as usual or something), but this is the first time when I don't feel that an anniversary is an anniversary. This is simply a banner for the end of the month XD Grimmjow - a character that fans have been asking about for a long time and one of the most popular characters in the series KLAB: no Yhwach - The final antagonist of the manga and TYBW arc. The thing that is also associated with him is the number 9 KLAB: no Rukia - Literally the second protagonist of the manga. Fans have been asking for her for years, even more than Grimmjow KLAB: no Gremmy - .....A strong dude who was the villain of the week and appeared in the anime for one episode KLAB: OH YES!!! IT IS PERFECT FOR ANNIVERSARIES!!! And this theme called "The strongest vs The strongest" Like dude WTF? Zaraki still makes sense (although far-fetched) since he has unlocked shikai and hasn't controled bankai yet, so he has the potential to be the strongest BUT GREMMY? So what if he has great power if his power also works to his disadvantage? I mean, I understand that KLAB thinks that Gremmy is even stronger than Yhwach, right? They couldn't come up with a good theme themselves and came up with something like this without thinking about it XD Each anniversary had either a meaningful theme or a fight that had great importance for the manga. The 4th anniversary had Mugetsu and Vasto Lorde, two different sides of the main character's power. The 5th anniversary had the Ichigo vs Byakuya fight which was the first boss fight in the manga and it was built for a very long time. The 6th anniversary was celebrated by Aizen and Ichigo, the protagonist and the most popular antagonist whose fight ended a certain era in the manga. The 7th anniversary had Ichigo and Uryu symbolizing the sides of the conflict when the TYBW arc began in the anime. The 8th anniversary had White and Ichigo where one referred to the origin of the Ichigo powers and the other to his newly unlocked powers. All this so that we now get a fight that lasted for one episode, with an opponent that appeared for one episode, and a theme that doesn't even make sense. It looks like they didn't even try to make it look like an anniversary. And one more thing.....What happened to the original design? I understand that this is the past and we won't do it anymore because it requires too much creativity?
When showed off Kenny's model I noticed he has the same aura as all the sternritter and that kinda bugs me ngl. Okay so in the gameplay footage he actually has like a black electrical aura so the first thing is likely mistake.

The most controversy here is that Kenpachi and Gremmy are the Anni Units, and i agree 100% with the hate on that side, anniversary for me always meant about unique very very good designs, giving some ultra extra love to a special character of the story. Even on the last anni, witch that ichigo and white, white resembling an important part on ichigo powers and backstory it wasnt a new unique design, but the character felt unique. Dont get me wrong here, both characters looks insanely strong and coming with some extra stuff, but it just feels like an EOM, and it doesnt have any uniqueness to it. The fact that almost all bbs players start gathering orbs behind of time and bbs tickets just for this, and then feel like its a EOM with extra stuff, feels strange tbh. I like the strongest quincy vs the strongest soul reaper theme for this anniversary ESPECIALLY the artwork and ill probably be going 10 steps to get gremmy and my final 6th anni aizen dupe but like im sorry but canon kenpachi is just like one of the most boring things we could have possibly gotten. Hes really cool in the anime but his canon moves are damn near nonexistent/boring and his aura does NOT carry over into games

I said it on the first trailer and i say it again, I don't think that zaraki is a character with enough weight for an anniversary event, much less with Gremmy. As much hype that they are, zaraki is at the best a deluxe secondary, i think that for a anniversary would be better more important characters, like ichigo and his group, or the main villains, this event could easily be just another anime banner, they didn't even tried to make anything minimally original, like when they did with mugetsu, 2nd and 8th anni Ichigo, turned into a character and gave a whole moveset for a form that only appeared for a second. Zaraki and gremmy are literally just what appeared on the anime, they didn't even made something new with their special move, like with white (at least i don't remember him using that special move in the anime), is exactly what happened at the anime (and a scene that is not even the peak of the fight, surely the most impacting one, but far from their peak on that fight). I'm utterly disappointed but I'll still try to get both of them, because they're still anni characters
I just thought, couldn't they get that scene where gremmy tried to imagine him being as strong as kenpachi, and make a "original" gemmy out of that? Like a Gremmy that succeeded in copying Kenpachi, like what they did with lunar Ichigo? That would justify way more it being the anniversary event

If they wanted a Kenpachi Gremmy banner it could've just been a regular tybw banner. This feels like a throwaway anniversary. Kenny makes sense for an anni character but gremmy being added drags him down.

@@Lardnuts I’m sorry what? How fast do you think these banners come out? This Gremmy vs Kenpachi fight happened almost a year ago and they made it into an anniversary. If cour 3 starts in October then it will probably end in December or early January like cour 1 that will line my suggested dumb idea up with the release window in which they release the characters which is usually 6+ months after their anime debut and Gerard vs the captains will probably be the most hype inducing event in that cour.

I have been saving orbs since 6th anni, didn't summon on 7th anni, 7th eoy, 8th anni or anything in between. I only summoned for 8th eoy yhwach. I have like 26k ready and I wanted an original aizen, yhwach or even ichigo or rukia.

Tbh im skipping this banner and go for step 5 on the tybw on mashio for pvp. I will say as the game is in it 9th year, they need to let sekimon tower mode allow you to do all of it instead of do 1 of each, that way you can get zengetsu tickets and more gem for later banners. Plus add more gems so it make getting to step 10 fair for f2p, overwise you get a banner you need but skip due to pool. I've skip many bammers to the shunshi banner and got him, did 8 in swimsuit for 1 5 star and it was a dub. Make arena better and rewarding and sekimon. Plus add more story's on the chronicle story we only got 3 parts. Im still waiting for more characters we have little of like tuski (orhime friend), bount characters, 2.0 on movie characters
They could have given us original characters on part 1 and then this for part 2 with shikai yachiru.

I'm happy for the Kenpachi and Gremmy fans, but this is a fat L in terms of anniversary. This banner could have been a regular end of month later in the year, but we get shafted with canon characters for the second year in a row. I'll give last year a pass because it was different, but if this is the future of anniversary, then the excitement is just not there anymore. Anniversary should feel special, not like a regular banner with broken characters. This should have easily been Yhwach because the timing was perfect and they mucked it up as usual. I guess the only good thing I have to say about this is at least it wasn't Rukia's year because if we got a canon Yhwach or Rukia for anniversary, that would have made this even more disappointing that their one chance would have been wasted. Again, I'm happy for the fans of these characters, y'all eating good right now, but this doesn't come close to the hype of past anniversaries. I know a mob will be mad I call this an L when they say its a W, and that's fine, you can ignore me and the others that feel similarly, but when its someone like Rukia's turn and you scream L, I'll be ignoring you just the same, unless its canon again then I'll be calling it an L too. I prefer canon over the game original looks. Most look silly and probably were only made because bleach had no content. Now we have the anime back so of course they would return to canon characters again.

Seasonal variations and original designs create opportunities to do something else with the characters outside their canon abilities, i.e. use different statuses because some of us are tired of Ichigo having weaken, lacerate, or no status at all for every unit. Fact is, the game has survived so long because they dare do something outside the bare minimum of copy and paste to keep the game fresh. And no, just because the anime is back doesn't mean they can only do canon. They were doing canon manga characters before hand and making content with the tie in novels. Yes, this is the time to capitalize on the Bloodwarfare arc, but the point of anniversary was to give something hype and usually this was done by being original, not throwing out end of month characters with slightly better kits. Canon is fine, but it has its limitations and gets dry fast and most agree, canon is not hype enough for anniversary which is the core complaint.

I wouldn't be too opposed to original designs if they didn't look so silly and out of place most of the time. The normal looks are iconic and hype is subjective. Pretty sure most anniversaries aren't game originals right, it was just something they did for a little bit. But still, the strong canon forms have always been something more hype to me as that is what I have come to like about the characters

This is my best case scenario as Kenpachi is my favorite and its been awhile since the last one. Im not a fan of the game original designs really so I'm glad they avoided that and used the fresh anime look. Gremmy is meh but if i needed him to get Kenpachi then I'm fine. Rukia can be part 2, i think she's on the same tier as orihime and chad for character hype so didn't expect her to headline.

Based solely on the trailer, I don’t see how people didn’t see it was gonna be Kenpachi and Gremmy. I’ve seen a lot of people say it should’ve been Rukia instead. While I do love Rukia and can’t wait for her Bankai remake, there was NOTHING in the trailer that implied her, or Renji for that matter. The biggest giveaway (that even KLab made note of) was the ground breaking at the end of the trailer, clearly referencing to Kenpachi busting out of the stage during the fight. The blue explosions was likely Gremmy’s selfmade bombs and Kenpachi did multiple slashes throughout the fight. The breaks in the Anni title is could referencing Kenpachi breaking out of Gremmy’s imagined space. There was a lot of evidence pointing to it being these two. I understand if you don’t like the character choices, but to say that it should’ve been someone else, even though the trailer was clearly in one direction, is very stupid to me. Besides Gremmy, who else would’ve been with Kenpachi that would’ve worked with the trailer? Anyway, W theme, W characters, W skills and kits, W news, and W anniversary.

We have a new transformation mechanic and it's used on two characters that don't actually transform (unlike Rukia, Renji, mask or as nodt). I can see where their mind was for the anni tbh. TYBW anime based, and it looks to be top moments from both cours so far. White is a part of Ichigo's genetics, which allowed Ichigo to finally get his true shikai, whereas everyone was excited for Kenny vs. Gremmy because we finally got to see Kenpachi's shikai after so many years just for him to test it out against one of the strongest Sternritter. Am I happy about the pick? Not really, but I understand it. Hopefully, we'll get Bankai Rukia and True Bankai Renji for pt2

It was very predictable it would be then but I'm dissapointed mostly for their visuals. Yes, the special attacks look great, But kenny's sword looks SO DOWNSIZED in his model, his normal attacks look kinda basicd and lame. Gremmy as well, no morr of the spacial summoning attack, the hand one and the block of wster one look so weird. For an anniversary, they really seemed to go kinda uncreative on the annimations

So what if he has great power if his power also works to his disadvantage? I mean, I understand that KLAB thinks that Gremmy is even stronger than Yhwach, right? They couldn't come up with a good theme themselves and came up with something like this without thinking about it XD
Each anniversary had either a meaningful theme or a fight that had great importance for the manga. The 4th anniversary had Mugetsu and Vasto Lorde, two different sides of the main character's power. The 5th anniversary had the Ichigo vs Byakuya fight which was the first boss fight in the manga and it was built for a very long time. The 6th anniversary was celebrated by Aizen and Ichigo, the protagonist and the most popular antagonist whose fight ended a certain era in the manga. The 7th anniversary had Ichigo and Uryu symbolizing the sides of the conflict when the TYBW arc began in the anime. The 8th anniversary had White and Ichigo where one referred to the origin of the Ichigo powers and the other to his newly unlocked powers. All this so that we now get a fight that lasted for one episode, with an opponent that appeared for one episode, and a theme that doesn't even make sense. It looks like they didn't even try to make it look like an anniversary. And one more thing.....What happened to the original design? I understand that this is the past and we won't do it anymore because it requires too much creativity?

The most controversy here is that Kenpachi and Gremmy are the Anni Units, and i agree 100% with the hate on that side, anniversary for me always meant about unique very very good designs, giving some ultra extra love to a special character of the story. Even on the last anni, witch that ichigo and white, white resembling an important part on ichigo powers and backstory it wasnt a new unique design, but the character felt unique.
Dont get me wrong here, both characters looks insanely strong and coming with some extra stuff, but it just feels like an EOM, and it doesnt have any uniqueness to it. The fact that almost all bbs players start gathering orbs behind of time and bbs tickets just for this, and then feel like its a EOM with extra stuff, feels strange tbh. I like gremmy a lot and will pull him fo sho, but it doesnt feel like anni for me :(

im sorry but canon kenpachi is just like one of the most boring things we could have possibly gotten. Hes really cool in the anime but his canon moves are damn near nonexistent/boring and his aura does NOT carry over into games
Would be really cool if they made Gremmy normal attacks rotate randomly and has more type of weapons, for cool looking ofc

Theyre both cool as fuck and i love kenpachi so im happy hes got a broken unit, but man I really wish they didnt do a guranteed TYBW banner as an anni banner. Atleast make it a non canon or alternate canon version of them instead of just the basic tybw versions.
