This video saved me to, was just plowing this morning and truck stopped needed a quick fix watched this vid and instead of cutting wires I got a piece of mig wire and put it into the clip holes to complete the circuit, then re learned the ignition same as vid and it works evertime now thanks again !!

What if my security light isn’t staying on or flashing during this process? I’ve tried it multiple times and still won’t start. I replaced the relays and fuses. Battery is good etc. solenoid is good. Just won’t start. It was working fine and then the same day it just wouldn’t disengage

Thanks , it works. They broke into my truck and screwed with ignition. Had to drill lock out and wouldn't start with new cylinder. Great vid👍

Same thing just happened with me. Someone tried to steal my truck and we thought the ignition was broken
I did the two wires together method today. It worked the first time. This vehicle was a 2000 chevy 1500 silverado. The security light is in the info center and not a dedicated lamp. The security light would alternate blinking 5 times then the battery light would flash on then solid for 5 seconds then the security would flash. It did that for ten minutes then the battery would stay on. Then i would cycle the key after 5 seconds and before 10 seconds. Did that three times. Worked perfect, the security light stays on all time. Dont care about that. Thanks
i got the same truck had same problem tried the 10 minute wait 10 second 3 times thing 3 times didn't work till i just random like 14min wait 20sec them 17 min wait 26sec then 15min wait 30sec worked then

For reference, it's actually a PASSLOCK-II anti-theft system on 1998-2006 (2007 Silverado Classic also), not PASSKEY-3. PASSKEY-3 is a transponder type system.
100% correct & Passlock 3 is even worse. Thanks GM 12+ year old trucks stall & won't restart because of lousy electronics.

@@caintgitriteexp9342 i ended up finding a 12v 1k ohm resistor i cut the yellow kept the black in place then did a program steps with out a scanner its been working perfect
@@caintgitriteexp9342 leave the black wire attached cut the yellow put the resistor on the yellow the other side of the resistor goes to black just strip the black and attach

This worked great! Thank you so much. I did it with my battery disconnected and it started right up without having to do the relearn process.
I did this fix on a 2007 GMC 1 ton van. I left wires unplugged from ignition after soldering. Did the relearn and the van started. Security light is still on but is not bothering me as long as this fix is permanent. Thanks for the video.

Jake I have the same truck. Mine would stall 2 seconds into cranking a couple times and then start up. My airbag message would come up as well. What issues did You have?
You don't actually need to know the resistance but instead the voltage. Remove the starter relay and measure the voltage across the wires when trying to crank. Install a variable ohm resistor and adjust the resistor untill the voltage matches.

If you put a resistor in with yellow on one side and black on other side of resistor will work and no theft light
To all Gm owners before u spend any thing even time check the ground wires especially the one behind the engine they might be los or cut .
Hey everyone ! What if my vehicle will crank but has no spark ? Motor turns over but no spark out of coil? I’ve tried everything but a ECM!

I did it once. The light blinked for 10 mins, the 2nd time I did it, the light stayed solid and didn’t shut off after 10 mins.

Holy shit this worked. Tried this one more time right after I called a tow truck to take my hummer to the show. The main key is to wait until the security light shuts off before you turn the key off for 10 seconds. The first cycle it went off after 9 minutes. The second cycle it took over 11 minutes. Truck started right after that!

Dyam thief phuked my ignition cylinder, luckily couldnt steal the truck. Did this pricedure 6 times, finally worked when I waited the Full 10 seconds instead of 5 secs. Overall, my truck runnin again. Thank u sir

@@elbambinomaloso189 Black and Yellow wire still wired together right now. going to leave it like that. Trying to put together a Steering Wheel quick disconnect so it will cause them not to waste their time trying to steal this truck.

All you have to do is unplug the little 3 wire connector after you get your vehicle started after doing the key relearn procedure. On my 2007 express van I didn't have to connect the 2 wires or use a resistor, simply unplug the connector while it's running after it starts. It's been starting every time now. I was having the problem where I was having to do the key relearn procedure almost every time to get my van to start, security light was blinking. Now the security light stays on, would need to add a resistor to get the security light off.
My security light stayed on after relearn from replacing the housing and cylinder on an attempted theft on my truck. All i did was unplug the battery for about 5 minutes and it turned the light off back to normal

All you need to do is try to start leave it in the on position wait until the light shuts off turn it off wait 10 seconds and start it

i have another question i just bought 2006 chevy silverado and when i turn the key it's completely dead. If it's the immobilizer would the car try to crank but not start? or would it just not start at all? btw sometimes the vehicle will start on the first turn, sometimes my spare key will work and other times i have to put a battery charger on it well i do 3 10 minute reprogam and even that doesn't work on the first turn. The car battery is also 3 years old but i have charged it up and it always show on my multimeter over 12v the alternator is good too.. I'm kind of at loss; it just does not crank just nothing except the fuel pump will come on and the radio and dash lights come on. I don't hear any click click click from the starter so i don't think it's that. My biggest question here is does the immobilizer allow the car try and crank over or will act like a dead battery?

I have done this to my customers 1998 chevy express 1500 5.7 van and it is working well so far [ 2 days ] I have not released the vehicle to him yet.........longevity testing. Working so far. No need for cutting and splicing wires .............so far. With truck running as normal - I disconnected MODULE # 16254825 [canada ] model# ab91502r .......Production date of truck 12/12/07 ..YES that's correct , NO module plugeed in. Startes and run great.......................Be sure you have a STRONG battery guy

Does this work for chevy trailblazer 2006? I had the same problem my chevy trailblazer won't start it will crank for 2 seconds then stop after a couple of times of cranking it will finally stops from cranking then i observe my fuel injectors is not blowing a gas my fuel pump is new

If the security light never came on before you did this then your problem probably isn't related to the security system.

Works for me at the 3rd time 2007 silverado classic 4.8 my security light was on solid but truck was running fine and then all of the sudden start for one second or two and died, i just jump those 2 wires and did the relearn procedure and it worked, thank you very much.
Mine starts and dies right away but I have no codes and no security light. I already replaced the pump and fuel pressure regulator.

That's a passkey 3 key with a transponder, not a passlock 2 as other people are commenting.

So after connecting two wires does it matter if the plug is in or out for the bypass to work? I haven't tried it plugged back in yet so the red wire is connected. My alarm won't quit going off even after disconnecting the + battery for a while???

Did this a couple of weeks ago and a week later it had the same issue. I turned the key on and left it for 10 minutes but still wouldn't start. I cycled the key 3 times and then it started. Hoping that was the trick.
Were you able to get it fixed? Just did this to my 1999 Chevy c/k1500 yesterday and it started up great, came out this morning and it’s back to its old problems.

99 gmc sierra 4x4 message board light stays on says security,while truck is off with key out. If unhook batt cables hook back up its off,but same problem after drivin.

Im having a no crank issue with my 2004 gmc 2500 HD. I changed power steering pump and something went wrong last night. I had unplugged the computer for the transmission and after all was put back together, my truck wont start. Im gonna try this tomorrow and see if my truck will start. Glad you posted this video.

This"fix" is on about 100 videos. It will usually work, but after a day or two, you have to do the process all over again

I've a 04 Caddy Deville. The ignition lock cylinder wouldn't allow me to insert the key. So I bought a new cylinder, now I need to know how to bypass the passkey 3 system so I won't need to re program the key.
Similar situation where my 2002 Silverado key cylinder is jammed up. Since you could not turn to the start position to remove it with the "pin hole depress", did you just drill it out to replace it? Any help is appreciated!

What passlock does mine have? It's a 98 blazer. It has a new ignition switch, so the keys are not the original.
I just put a piece of electrical tape over the security light haha.

i have a 01 s1500 silverado and the wires i have are brown green red w/white strip yellow and orange w/black strip which ones do i need to connect to start my truck the key cylinder wouldn't turn so before i looked anything up i cut those 5 wires and now can't start my truck

@@Joshyodenn well I cut the set of 3 wires and 2 wires that were connected to the ignition housing the red w/white strip orange w/black strip and yellow the there is a brown and green wire
I cant even turn my key. I tried to pull the little roller thing out and start it. Still start then immediately cutoff. Im lost. Will this help the key turn also
What about everything in the interior dies or it won't start? These are my symptoms.
1. Driving along and everything inside the car goes dead but the Tahoe keeps driving.
2. I make a hard left turn, and everything comes back on but then dies out again.
3. One day the starter would turn over but5 wouldn't start. Everything inside is dead.
4. Remembering the left turn deal, I put the key in the on position, everything still dead, I opened the door, grabbed the edge of the roof and started rocking the truck. The interior lit right up, and the radio came on and I was able to start it.
5. The problem would resurface.
Do you think it could be a motion detector that is acting up? I have a blank key that will start the engine. Has the previous owner disconnected my security system?

This helped a very frustrating issue. But. Its happening again weeks after. Its relearned my key. Does it need to relearn again ?
You probably have a bad wire connection somewhere make sure all connections are soldered ,so the resistance doesn't change. But if it stopped working then it will have to be relearned again.
2003 chevy tahoe z71 trued it but doesn't crank or anything i have an aftermarket key I haven't tried the wire process just hoping it works if not what is another tip u could spot me would truly be appreciated

I Definetly need help with this I just bought a 07 buick rendezvous a couple days ago turned on fine and made it home fine next day went to start the car and nothing no sound no nothing all lights come on and radio but just in case I took the battery to auto zone fully charged it and its a good battery my first thought was a starter so I bought and changed that still nothing I noticed my security light was flashing what the hell do I need to do to get this car to start please help thanks in advance
If the security light flashes i would try doing the relearn procedure first.
@@Joshyodenn we did that and it didn't work we ended up hiring a lock smith he plugged his computer in and reseted everything as if I lost all keys and then he reprogramed it...that seemed to work car starts now however security light still flashing amd anti theft light is still on

this is passlock, not passkey. passkey 3 runs off a transponder not a resistor
I have a '03 Buick Park Avenue, I had to change the steering column a couple of months ago, had the security system reset, and all was good, then two weeks ago I went to town and when I shut the car off the flashers came on, cranked the car back up flashers went off. I manually turned on and off the flashers and they appeared to work fine, turn off the ignition and they come back on. I got into my dash and found my ”dual purpose” flashers and replaced it, nothing changed. So into the underhood fuse box and removed HZD fuse, and no flashers period but, then I noticed the taillights were on while the light switch was off! Now I'm thourghly stumped. Any suggestions? Thanks
04 1500, none of these videos have worked for me. The only code consistently in it is P1626. I have entertained this issue for 2 years..time to go, but IF this did work on your chevy/GM then maybe it's just my luck owning any GM product.
I've spent over 900 bucks on trin to fix my 98 Chevy suburban it won't crank no machine will read it no Chevy service center will touch of its to old they say and the 3 shops didn't know how yi fix it and one said it was fixed and it wasn't but won't gibe my money back so I still have a pos truck thats a money Pitt now
sounds like a bad ground wire or a wire that rubbed through or got disconnected, these are a pain to find
This process worked and now my truck, 06 Silverado, is reading the key. However, now it just seems like its trying to turn over but wont start.
@@Joshyodenn Yes. A few hours later it just randomly started after someone came to look at it and I was trying to show them the problem; of course. It worked all day after that, and then this morning it started doing the same thing again like there is no fuel. Once yesterday the security bell rang 4 quick times like it use to before I did the bypass as opposed to4 slow rings; I removed the key and tried again 5 seconds later and it started right up.
@@Joshyodenn So I am intermittently having issues with my truck still, even after doing this. Here is what I experience:
(When it starts): Key in, no chime, turn to acc, 4 slow chimes, starts.
(When it does not start): Key in, chimes until I turn the key to acc, at acc it chimes 4 quick chimes, does not start.
Battery is charged. No loose connections I can see.
I try the leave it in acc for 10 minutes, then off for 5 seconds, still nothing. I can even do the 3 sets of 10 minutes option, still nothing.
Then randomly I'll check it and it will chime slow and start.
The times in between when I check it does not seem to matter: once I checked it at 5 minutes and it worked. The next time I repeated everything the same and it did not start. One time I was showing my neighbor; he turned the key, it did not start, I explained the chime thing, he turned the key to hear what I was talking about and it started.
Do you have any ideas?

@@CumRod69 still the same problem. One guy took apart my instrument panel and found a bunch of crack soldering. We fixed that, but since then my truck has sat in a lot bc of quarantine issues involving finances to keep working on it.. if you find a solution, please let me know.

What truck do you have? If you did this procedure make sure to solder connections.

I tried but no luck here. I am not sure but without the resistor you're just lucky. I found the how to diagnose the VATS using the Chilton manual steps... Just ordered the VATS box. I will update once I receive it and plug it. Your case, I don't see the logic behind the no resistance, because that's how it communicate with the VATS box. Just my 2 cents, this is not my area of expertise but learning.

If the security light isn't staying on or flashing, then there's probably an engine problem or fuel pump problem, first try switching the fuel pump relay with another relay that has the same numbers on it ,make sure you have fuel pressure by the engine there's a bleeder valve by the fuel rail, check oil level
If it weren't sensing the key then the security light should stay on or flash.
I got a 03 Yukon xl and when I put the key in the ignition the horn just stays on, idk what to do. Any help?

Would this mess up the after market alarm? Or would the alarm be the cause of my truck not starting I replaced the key switch but still happens?
Will that work without the key I got ignition switch out I lost my key
If you lost your key you'll need to either change the intire ignition or get a locksmith to make you a new key.
