I wish I hadn't grown up watching the Davids win over the Goliaths over and over and over again in media. I wish I hadn't grown up being told that it was possible in the real world, too. Because since finding out that if it ever was possible in the real world, it certainly isn't possible any more, I haven't known what to do with myself.

For someone who grew up on Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, I have not actually watched all that much Farscape because it was not broadcasted in my country. But I'll definitely have to watch it all now.

FWIW: I do not think I watched this TV show when it first aired, but I have the DVD box set and I have watched it at least twice. I have caught _some_ of the movie on TV, but not seen the entire thing yet.
The only flaw in Serenity is commercial not artistic there's no draw for people not already familiar with the 'verse and if you don't know the characters already it's hard to achieve a significant emotional investment but as a fan of the show I loved it especially when Mal starts misbehaving

Why did Mal talk about the escape like it was recent? It's also made clear that River was seen by high ranking Alliance officials and read them. That's how she knew about Miranda.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, because... apparently you thought that they recaptured her and then re-rescued her despite the utter nightmare that would be, but River doesn't say a damn thing in that escape that would mean lucidity. She's just stable enough to be walking about, but then... she's stable enough to be walking about the moment she recovers from the cryo too. She also has the luxury of being able to sit around, so she does. ... If you mean that Mal mentions they've had feds on their ass ever since they picked her up it's because... they have. Literally the first episode is them picking her up and a fed looking for her. And yes, she gets the information from someone high up inside the Federation... because the idiots went to the academy! I'm about 98% sure the Operative even remarks on how stupid it was to endanger the project and the federation just to show off what they'd accomplished... right before he kills the guy. And the Operative wasn't the first person they sent. They started with the Hands of Blue from the show. Only when they failed to make headway did they send the Operative. Because he's more... noticeable. Direct. Confrontational.
Goliath always loses... not in Blake's 7, of course. Or 1984. Or Brazil. Goliath always losing is more an American thing, part of the national mythology.

You should look at the SciFi's Firefly is Farscape lasted longer and got big finale but Firefly is more well known.
For someone who grew up on Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, I have not actually watched all that much Farscape because it was not broadcasted in my country. But I'll definitely have to watch it all now.
Watched them both. Liked them both. But I think Firefly is considerably better. I can watch repeats of Firefly nearly all day, but not Farscape.
