I see there was a few cuts between updates. I’d like to know how long did this take in total?
Any idea how much data would be needed to download and install graphene onto a device from the device connected to the internet?
Thanks for the videos, Tom
I remember how hard it used to be to install a custom rom. I'm glad they made it so easy.
Did this on windows 10 and can confirm this works. Thank you for the help felt awesome after installing
Thanks for Not showing how to Install Driver 🤣
For some who has problems doing this...click on the phone in the dialog box that will pop-up, and after that click on connect...😀
Helped a lot, it worked great!
Just followed this guide installing from Brave browser in Linux Mint. Had a problem initially communicating through the USB port; one thing missing in the documentation: need to install adb; sudo apt install adb
Once I did that everything worked.
Thanks for this video, always a little scary doing stuff like this.
Same
Maybe you could do a comparison between different open source OS. Like a Graphene OS vs Lineage OS, and come from a privacy perspective.
I’d like GrapheneOS vs. CalxOS.
The privacy precaution prevents us from being able to follow along.
Thanks! Doing this today, but with Ubuntu. It was useful to see the process in a video.
Do I have to have a pixel phone that doesn’t have a locked boot loader?
I’m not sure what the requirements would be for a pixel phone if it was formerly…
Used is one that would be bought from eBay
You legit started to hide your screen for the crucial part I needed for the bootloader update.

@@Nick-bo6rz buying it from eBay would defeat the purpose.
eBay collects data on their users.
This is verry advanced for having "Noob" in the title... Half the shots are not looking at the right place and you didn't show how to install the driver 🤣 (It's literally the most rewatched part of the video). Thanks for the video I got way further than if I didn't use it!
Pressing volume down and power shows me the "phone locked" boot screen. So unlocking on Graphene website says "Error: Bootloader was not unlocked, please try again!".
I swear to God... I am having problems with the exact part you decide to cut the screen off from at 6:00minutes. Thanks for nothing.
Bro I was looking at a vide about installing this and it got deleted and soon as I scrolled past ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Can I install this on a intel Chromebook ?
this was extremely confusing you said pick unlock bootloader which wasnt even an option
First you download this then you download this and now you can download this. Great, what the H is THIS ?
I have installed Graphene OS, but when i restart the device i see a google logo just before the graphene os logo popsup? I'm using google pixel 6a?
That's normal
I didn't install it using this guide for my first time and bricked my 4a 5g model, just ordered a new phone and hope i don't brick a second one lol.
@Ant McFly I think i made two mistakes when i initially did mine, Firstly i used the command line method, don't do that unless you know what you're doing.
Secondly in my platform tools when i was doing the command line method i have previous OS images still in that folder from a previous Flash, so my theory is i accidently flashed something completely different onto the Pixel because all my files were jumbled together. I'm actually just going to save for a Pixel 6a and going to try again using the web ui.
You didn't explain why you're installing a system update.
Hi, new to the forum......I am having difficulty with the installation on a Pixel 7. I am able to enable developer mode and unlock OEM. When in the Fastboot Mode the "Warning Triangle" is Red and the device state is Locked in green. All android updates have been installed. I am also flustered by the windows/Android driver install. I am not really any good with tech. Now the phone is new but I did have it running for a week with a sim installed. Is it me, the phone or both. Thanks in advance for any help..

this is only for pixel phones?
Unfortunately due to the updates at the 4:40 mark the process has changed.
Windows & privacy being mentioned together is a touch ironic
Yeah so at around 04:50 to enable "OEM Unlocking" I could not do so. Evidently, I have a carrier locked device. Any solutions??
If you've already paid for your device in full, you can call your carrier and ask them to unlock your device. Device is only unlockable from carrier if it has been paid for; there may be other ways around it but I imagine there would be significantly more steps.
If it's carrier locked give your provider a call as Elias mentioned. Otherwise update your stock OS and then factory reset phone to have that option available.
Had the same issue after updating, Restarting after factory reset and connecting to Wi-Fi seemed to work for me.
how do I do this on linux
Can Graphene OS disable cellular connectivity so that your phone won't ping any cellular base station (even without SIM)?
If not, are there apps which can do this?
I have a Pixel 7 Pro and am stuck. When I first started the phone and when to Settings: System I could see "Developer Options" but it would not let me unlock the OEM. I could see the button but it was greyed out and I could not click it. The phone said I had to restart at that point in order to do so. After restart, "Developer Options" completely disappeared. I reset the phone with the last option under System but it did not change anything. I still cannot see "Developer Options" and cannot unlock the OEM...any suggestions?
Did you figure it out man?
@@Nick-bo6rz I did thanks I love Graphene, zero problems so far.
Pardon me? My one year study Bible is baller. If I could only own one book...
Does this work on any pixel?
Very confusing instructions
You this be done a Pixel 4?
least conboluted open software instalation
any method to install it on redmi k20 pro (rapheal)?
There is no link for the USB installer.
On windows? Try going to windows update settings, press "check for updates", then under "view all optional updates" (smaller grey text) look for something with Android in the name and install that. On linux there is some packages to install first
is it actually possible to install graphere on a non pixel device?
No. Only on Google Pixels according to GrapheneOS website's FAQ
It's technically possible because it's open source, but you would need to build it yourself.
I recommend that you don’t have flashing light in the background. It’s a problem for people with seizures.
only a felon gives his fingerprint to be saved on a file and even he is not stupid enough to do it voluntarily
Hi there. Great video and well explained. Please, is it possible to install graphene os on other android devices. Like vivo y20s snapdragon, Qualcomm processor without root?
nope, these devices disable custom OS
@@TomSparkReviews The OEM Unlocked is greyed out on my Pixel 5.

@Dagoth Ur Thanks a lot. I'm still trying have the vivo Y20s rooted if I get the firmware
can i use on my pc?

Can I install in Samsung galaxy s8 ?
@@rob8694 just to make sure, graphene doesn't work on non google pixel phones, right?
I have the same USB powered hud
not working and everything in this video is ilogical
is it still good for pixel 4 to install this os? is there any issues?
The site's FAQ says no. The earliest they do is 4a.
If you still have graphene on your pixel, I have a quick question, can you delete the apps that came pre-installed on graphene?
there are no apps that really come pre-installed.
@@TomSparkReviews yeah I saw your other video showing that after, but specifically I'm wondering about the chromium app or whatever it's called, if you can delete the web browser

Will this still work with a eSIM?
E-Sim has too many security flaws. I am going with nano sim with my Pixel 7.
@@lysanderhuynh How so?
@@snook.1 Software level is always a problem. With a physical sim, you can take it out and deactivate it. With an eSIM, it is like the information is on your phone forever.
It also makes it easier for hackers to do exploits to your device.
@@lysanderhuynh I still haven't opened my Pixel 6a. I'm planning to install GrapheneOS. I'm trying to gather information about how I can avoid giving Google any identifiable information such as phone numbers etc -- since I'm forced to use Play services in sanboxed mode for banking apps. Sounds like a traditional SIM card is the way to go in that regard?
@@snook.1 Very easy to do. Do not sign in with your google email, deny google services, follow offline setup, and turn on wifi to get OEM unclocked. I recommend web install for graphene os. EZ mode. =)

Is it possible to remove GrapheneOS from a phone? Do you need passwords for this?
Is this the Android 13 version installed?
I like the new different videos. I always have weird things happen to me. I’d start a YT, but I hate talking to a camera, so I’ll give you some video ideas- a video on the truth of what can happen to your lost/stolen smart phone. My iPhone is in Mexico and it’s interesting to see where it is, where it goes. I stupidly lost it and didn’t realize until I was 3 hours away. Nobody has been able to unlock it yet. Apple says it’s worthless to anyone, but I got questions… What’s the difference b/w locked, unlocked, sim, e-sim cards? What’s the IMEI? Can someone get past the activation lock? Stuff the manufacturers and the cell carrier’s WON’T tell you and what you should do as soon as you lose it….??? And number 1, don’t be dumb like me.
There's an interesting episode on the "hacked" podcast called Paperweights, where they actually discuss this. A stolen iPhone was sent to south east Asia and the owner was getting phishing texts and emails like "see where your phone is" type links. Just in case you get those, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! That may give them your password and help them unlock and resell the phone
I hate it when people use pixel phone to install graphene os. People buy pixel phone for the software experience. They are unlikely to change it. Why not pick a random Chinese phone with garbage software riddled with privacy nightmares and show is noobs how to put graphene in it. That would be a start.
Fair point. Reason is almost every other cellphone locks their hardware to the OS so you can't do it.
