Here's the problem with Genshin Impact endgame: besides Spiral Abyss, which resets every 15 days, and events which have just gotten worse since last summer (less co-op, more repetitive mechanics, etc.), it has no endgame. It needs permanent activities and quality of life improvements to be fresh and interesting again. Grinding for characters is still fun to me, but is not enough anymore.

    • @RejectedInch
      @RejectedInch 2 года назад +72

it has no endgame because * drums roll * is not finished. There is literally no game that lets you access the elite/secret boss, final dungeon, elite dungeons for raids etc. before the actual end. Did we defeat the final boss? No. Is the story finished? No. Are all regions released? No. You want hard challenges? Play another game that is fully finished or be creative and try to face a boss fight with a level 2 Amber. The issue of Genshin is not the lack of "endgame" but the lack of game itself that doesn't allow the player to go through the stories that matter the most while dishing out irrelevant events and puzzle solving.

@@RejectedInch The answer is more simple; there is no endgame because Genshin is a very casual friendly game. The game is designed to be played in short sessions during the free times in your schedule, you aren't supposed to play for hours every day. The mayority of players don't care about meta, artifacts or even the Abyss. This might be a hard pill to swallow for some people but if you are feeling frustrated with the state of the game, you are the minority and you aren't the main target audience.

Facts. The bad part is if you post this on Reddit you get flamed by people who supposedly only have 30 seconds a day to play video games. Then there is the “Genshin isn’t for you. It’s for casuals” crowd which is just such a stupid argument. Who says casuals can’t enjoy endgame content besides the fact that meta / hardcore always drives a player base via carrot on a stick.
The resin system needs to be revamped by removing it from some bosses and allowing you to farm resin. The domains can be fixed by allowing you to keep going with leaderboards and increased rewards (still locked behind resin as you will eventually lose), unlimited scaling spiral abyss, league play where each month resets.

This came at probably the best time. Due to the whole Covid situation in Shanghai, an event was subbed out for liben, the livestream preview has been delayed reducing the mothly exposure/ excitement for upcoming charcters, weapons and events.
Spiral Abyss reset is tomorrow, but it has been discussed before that SA is not a fun endgame content, you do spiral for the primos and once you get them the majority of players wait for the next reset.
This leaves only with serenitea pot as endgame content, however with this patch, teapot has been disabled effectively reducing the amount of activities you can do.
There needs to be something to keep player focus, a huge selling point is the exploration. However, once the exploration of a new area and related quests are done what then?
Granted there are many lore material, mysteries to solve and theories but they are locked behind reading. Which the majority are probably not interested.
Genshin's last selling point is to utlise combat system, but as mentioned SA is not fun and farming routes or domains becomes boring once you have enough materials or the horrible RNG knocking in to say hi.
Basically at the end game, players just do not feel rewarded with the work they put into the game, and there isnt that motivation to continue playing when nothing is happening in the coming days.

A.) Let players choose their world difficulty, lvl 100 enemies should be the norm after AR 58. Like wtf.
B.) Add a gear scoring system and an appraisal system for the love of god , make domains super hard and the timer to 40 seconds. An AR 59 player has the same progression curve as an AR 55 player like wtf are you on about. It should be easier to snipe artifacts later.
C.) Add a arena mode , tower mode and a boss rush mode. Thats rpg 101. LOLZZZ

"Basically at the end game, players just do not feel rewarded with the work they put into the game." Took the words right out of my mouth.
I haven't played that many gachas, but it was clear as soon as I hit Ar 55 (AR 59 now) that Genshin has an underwhelming and unrewarding end game. Unlike other games (in general, not just gachas) Genshin has never incentivized players for spending countless of hours into the game.
At AR 55+ nothing is new, the drop rates for mob materials aren't increased, you unlock no new domains that give better rewards, etc. Basically, there's no merit to progressing, and any progress you make after AR 55 is meaningless because the rewards are just a single standard pull. The only thing that's left for you to aim for is Spiral Abyss, which isn't fun as many players have mentioned. Spiral Abyss has the potential to be fun, but at the end of the day, the abyss is either just a DPS check, gear check, or in the worst case both.
The only thing that keeps this game fresh for me is the exploration whenever there's a new area, as the new quests and area are the only content that I enjoy sinking multiple hours into.

The endgame i expect to see in genshin is the same endgame there is in Honkai.
Honkai started with the infinity abyss, which is multiple floors of enemies to be defeated against a clock, aka spiral abyss.
Then they will probably add a memorial arena : fighting against a singular boss that gets stronger each time you win. The vagabond event is the closest thing we had to a memorial arena.
And lastly an elysian realm aka the labyrinth of warriors event.
Very likely they work on making those events into a form with which they are satisfied to be permenant.

The problem is that Genshin doesn't know what it is. Is it a mobile gacha game that has an energy system, limited events, and characters that need plenty of screen time for players to fall in love? Is it an exploration action game, where players want to explore and destroy enemies that requires repeatable difficult content? Is it more of a sandbox game, where you can run around and collect materials, build a home, cook, and chat with characters?
In trying to please so many aspects of gaming, there are inevitably parts that fall off. People complained about the main story in Inazuma, the new player lockout, and the lack of repeatable and/or endgame content. Most updates have several types of events: the main with a great story, a combat based one, and some cute peaceful one. Hoyo is doing everything they can to cater to as many as possible, but they're still trying to figure out how best to do that. (For example, time-gating events annoys players, but not locking them means players speedrun and complain about lack of content) Hoyo is so busy covering every base they can that they're completely missing the fact that everyone is telling them that the it's time to switch sides.

Been playing since launch and I have to agree. Started the game with quite a few friends but now I'm the only one that still plays, if logging in for 20 minutes, do my dailies, and log out, even counts, outside the occasional events and abyss. And honestly I can't blame them. There's nothing to work towards. We have all these characters and equipment but there's no sense of progression towards anything after a certain point. I don't like how every update only focuses on temporary events. Some permanence in these updates outside new gacha items that end up being temporary until they rerun anyway would be nice. Not to mention most events in my opinion outside the exploration ones are just, recycled events. It could be a rerun event like mechanicus or just another arena event with a different name but the same idea.
I still do look forward to when Sumeru comes but if it's still the same old for another year, not sure how much longer I'll stay. I only get to have fun every what, 16 days, for awhile in spiral abyss and then that's it. Exploration is a one time thing. You can't experience it again because you can't undiscover what you already found. Which is why it amazes me people still defend the lack of endgame and one of the reasons is "go explore". Exploration is finite in this game. I still like this game, but how I feel about this game can only carry so far until even I find it meaningless to go further with it. I gave it over a year and a half, and soon to be two years. But hey, if there's no reason to continue, no harm done. Also, this game is catered to casual players, so I doubt they will add too much difficulty or competitiveness. They should go Honkai's route. Heh, It has nothing to do with skill, its about making a fair design or something that would actually make the players feel rewarded upon doing some actions in the game, for the most part the boss design of honkai is just bad because there's a lot of things that you can stop and say "why is this there" "why do i have to do this to short out a mechanic" "why do i have to use x character otherwise i wont do damage because this character have a huge buildup (trauma or sp, nowadays, though it happens, even moveset) to actually do damage (i just gave you an example with SoS) its just unfun and not even rewarding. Its just bad.
Did i just said i`ve been scoring 30-31K on EX Memorial almost every week on my 1st tries almost every week? Last week i got 103K on memorial in the last day and didnt even rolled for moveset. (and enabled the buff mode because i dont care anymore). (scores were 30.5, 31.1 and 42K.)

The sad part is, is that Mihoyo knows this. They know all of this, but they've been delivering the minimum viable product for a year and a half, because they can. The people who log in just to stare at their characters are few, but they are very vocal, and love to abuse the word "toxic" to label anything even remotely critical of the game. They completely stifle and shut down any discussion that isn't endless praise of the game, valid or not, to the point that people frustrated just get burnt out and quit. I haven't done commissions since 1.5. I haven't spent resin in 2 months. I only log in to clear SA and wait until an event is fully unlocked then blitz through that too. -Change resin massively
    -Buff old characters
    -Add more endgame
    -Add chest respawns
-Qol changes like Insta boss respawns
-More skins (easy way to make money that isn’t gacha oriented)
    -Make co-op systems better
-Offer more rewards to dedicated players (High AR people and stuff like anniversary)
    -become more RPG/open world focused
    -change daily activities/rewards
    -add new artifact substats
-Make co-op more interactive (like mini emotes and dialogue things)
-Focus on finishing older characters stories (like Qiqi or Diluc) rather than spamming new ones like yelan
-Add an option to select and matchmake with similar language players (Eu server could use this a lot) I see Russians everywhere
-focus more on general content like fishing, exploring, gliding challenges (currently they are irrelevant mostly)
-Add new raid style domains for co-op (this is the sort of thing I expected before I got genshin)
-Add skip tickets for people who don’t have time or are lazy
-focus less on mobile storage and just go all out like bringing back the GAarchipelago
-Actually listen to the community feedback for once
-Make fun events like windblume games and windtrace permanent/weekly activities in a rotation
    -Update adventure handbook
    -Update battle pass weapons
-Add a co-op horde mode with 100 floors
    -Bring more pets and gliders
-Make healers more important than damage for once
-Give a reason to explore old locations
-Add co-op public events like destiny
    -LET US PET ANIMALS

For veterans who have already beaten Abyss, that's fine because they now have a reason to get stronger. But for new players, the gap from starting out and getting into the endgame keeps getting bigger and bigger. This is obviously an increasingly serious problem.
The biggest mistake Mihoyo keeps making is that they don't offer any substantial intermediate challenges for players. *Instead of adding new and harder levels to Spiral Abyss, they just keep buffing the existing ones.* When Spiral Abyss is a challenge that seems ever more distant for new players, then what is their actual incentive to grow a strong team? Why should I grind every day when I'm only served a drip-feed of content that only rarely resembles the action I hope to see in level +10 Spiral Abyss some distant day?

The real problem is that it's too monetized. When you really boil it down the only fun things are getting new characters and leveling them up but both are heavily gated. Even the quest which you can argue is kinda fun if you like reading alot is gated with the stupid keys everything is gated and is slowed to a halt. There's a bunch of content in the game; quests, leveling up characters, getting new characters, hell Even the pot but everything is so gated is the progress is so halted you have no choice but to just log in and do nothing for a week before getting to play just alittle bit of the content.
In my opinion, this is done for monetary reasons, content cost money to make. You gotta pay the artists, designers, voice actors, programmers. And if they allowed you to play it all you probs finish the whole game in a day or two and never pick it up again. And they have to make more content to get you to play the game. I think these are a few ideas to add to Genshin
    1. PVP, this is a gamemode found in an area which isn't explored too much, or maybe Hoyo can add a new island in Monstadt. Basically it's permanent content where you find people online and take in four party members and battle it out. To make sure characters don't get one shot, every party member gets a massive HP increase, I'm talking like 30-50% increase, that way you can't immediately start a battle with Hu Tao and have your main dps die instantly. No healing items are allowed and revives from barbara or qiqi are still allowed however.
    2. Expand on Spiral abyss and character talent/weapon levels. This may be difficult to accomplish but with enough time to work things out with all the characters, the better it may be. Crowns will still be used for level 10, but also for level say 20, maybe 30 if they choose to expand that far. As for the Abyss expansion, a floor 13-24 would help increase how long people play the game (and will help monetarily). Floors 13-20 will be similar to 1-8 but the rewards should be double what they are in floors 1-8 as it is MUCH harder than floors 1-10. And floors 21-24 should give say 250 primos for 9 stars. That'll make the rewards more plentiful and may also be more f2p friendly for day one f2p players.
    3. Make some of the old events permanent content for co-op. Events like the one where you made your own domains would definitely help more people play the game for longer.
    4. Add an entirely new gamemode. Maybe a legitimate boss rush in the style of spiral abyss. Every boss is level 90 and you get 3 teams, maybe more when Fontaine, Natlan and Snezhnaya release. But once everyone on the first team dies it switches to the second team almost immediately and that continues until you either lose every team, or you defeat the most recent boss. Weekly bosses will be their own game mode. You'll get a lot of primogems depending on how fast you defeated the boss and how many characters died during the fight, but you will not regen HP or get bursts back after each fight.
These are just some of my ideas

With AR55-60+, Abyss done for the current cycle, no new story/archon/side quest and seasonal/limited events for content padding.
Players are only left with daily commissions and resin burn as end game content since day one of the game until now lol.
But the real problem lies with the players anyways, many are content with what the game has, I remember the issue of the anniversary rewards that were so bad that it sucked balls, but many said it's better than nothing for the "1ST ANNIVERSARY" like really?? So we reap what we sow as a community, we keep on feeding Hoyoverse with millions of $ for every character they release because it seems new shiny characters are better than actual end game content.
At this point I wont expect anything from Hoyoverse to do anything, anymore. What I'm hoping for is for another game from any other company to be released that is enough to stand as a "Genshin competitor" hope it becomes popular to shake Hoyoverse into a "we have to do something or we lose more players" mode.

One issue I see with this compared to normal games are the rewards. Let's say when you clear a regular game you see if there's a post-game or a way to have a 100% or whatever and you do it if you think it's fun, if not then you just drop it and play another thing. Sometimes you keep coming back to the game even if there's nothing new to do because it is fun (for example I have cleared Donkey Kong Country 2 at 102% several times). In Genshin tho, you keep coming back for the rewards, like, anyone finds the daily commisions fun? Abyss is only a challenge because it has a timer and that makes it more stressful than fun, but we play it for the rewards, so to me it would need a balance between fun/rewards and as genshin is right now it sounds kind of hard. Exploration has the balance imo but they obviously can't keep releasing new areas too fast and even then there are people who get the 100% of a new area in less than a week, sometimes in day 1.
It feels like the best option is just drop it, play other things and come back when there is more content but if you do that you won't have enough primos/exp/mora for new characters.
I don't know maybe it is wrong to compare it to a regular game but I don't know how other gacha handle it neither

for events tho, i want more events that are like the enkanomiya three realms because exploration gives us something to do in between. also the world of teyvat is very beautiful and the worldbuilding is amazing so to revisit areas and to learn more about teyvat that can't be squeezed in the main storyline would be great.

I'll not put out any names but some time ago I saw a familiar face, a genshin impact streamer, on my rare appearances on Twitch, they were playing Honkai Impact so naturally, being a very big fan of the game, I clicked. I couldn't have entered at a worse time as they were talking about "how bad honkai's endgame player experience is", their explanation being "you have to log in every day to obtain the event rewards" and "the hardest content needs a frame perfect execution to be competitive". This being said from someone who is part of the community that complains about genshin not having enough content. Honkai does require you to log in every day but to give the player an incentive to evolve and receive better rewards from everything there is to play; for example every three days the Abyss resets and it has tiers, the better the equipment and team rotation the higher the score and chance to challenge for the best rewards, and ,to be fair, the "frame perfect" rule doesn't apply unless you spend many thousands of and play for the top 100 on the server for every rotation. If you're a casual/ low spender, you'll most likely have to create your own rotations to fit your damage profile, heck if you have enough understanding of the game you can surpass whale accounts with very little gacha gear.
I'm not saying genshin should be a
FarmFest but I believe more difficult content that requires player engagement on a weekly basis to help would be welcomed by most of the community.

If they do that, they should also make it easier for players to farm. Because everything is capped to an unholy low amount right now.

I like the idea of a global Stella Fortuna. If they could make it something you could only achieve once a month with a spiral abyss-like set up, I'm sure a lot of people will be incentivized to grind for it. But unlike the abyss, which you could easily clear in an hour or so if you got all the right characters, this should be playable more so for as an entire monthly event. Genshin's problem is that its end game content can be easily finished in a matter of minutes or hours and their solution to that problem is to time lock it instead of making an organic progression system.

I really loved Genshin from the start, ever since it was released and I saw it on playstore in my phone for the first time, downloaded it and had the best fun I ever had since pandemic hit. I'd even sacrificed huge storage on my PC just to get a desktop client of the game (it was a low budget kind, but nothing stopped me) . Usually the only games I would play are MOBA multiplayer mmorpg and so, but open world was a whole new experience for me. Until that barrier of endgame updates came. I understand why they preferred to release it in updates rather than a full patch of the game, maybe because of the gacha that will hook everyone up when there's nothing left, or maybe to add new things that would be more likelihood to the community.
I know a lot of other people love grinding and getting their characters very strong and showcase stuff, but I don't consider it as end game, I'd rather have an entire game finished, heck I'll even play just the main quest and then get over it. Well for a few months I tried to hold in the grinding and kept playing but it felt more like chores. Which is the absolute opposite of what games are supposed to do.
I guess I got hooked into the story as well as the characters that I'd even spent more than a dime in any game for the first time. But I just can't go on with this kind of play style anymore. I even thought of playing genshin all over again from the start regardless of completion, or I could wait for the entire story to unfold but it seems so distant that the only option you have is to continue playing the furthest you could get.
Genshin was really amazing for me, but I think I overweighted the rpg here over the gacha. Though I'm finally quitting for good, I'm still grateful it made a way for me to discover other new games.
Remember everyone, it's a game. It might be your life's work, but don't push yourself too much to the point the only entertainment you'll probably get nowadays, especially this pandemic, to become something of a task that you urge yourself to do. Have fun while you're at it.

Great video! I think one of the key arguments in favour of introducing new and more challenging endgame content is that by giving players more reasons to build their characters you are simultaneously also making the existing content more worthwhile & rewarding. Some sort of challenging endgame would synergise really well with all of the existing gameplay which is centered around player progression.
The situation as-is seems more like an anti-synergy than anything else - Genshin is a game built around progression in which progression barely matters! Its strange!
I'm not confident that Mihoyo see it that way though sadly. Have they ever given any indication that challenging endgame content is something they are interested in implementing? Still - I'd love to see it happen!

Sure I can see it to stretch out the content while you're progressing through the ranks, but there's literally no reason for it once you're maxed other than the devs bein like, "Here's some permanent content that could potentially create alot more user-generated content which can further market the game on all the socials for free BUT we are doing everything in our power to make you absolutely hate every second you engage with it." ???

but other than that, everything's so bland and boring. once you've unearthed every secret and explored every region that the game currently offers, there's no reason to play. hell, I don't even visit the chasm, or dragonspine, or enkanomiya anymore unless I need to kill some bosses for ascension mats.
I wish they just made this game instance-based because mihoyo doesn't know how to implement an open-world game system. I mean, once I run out of resin, why should I kill a boss if I won't get anything out of it? I explore the vast open world of genshin for what exactly? am I supposed to kill every goddamn enemy I find? farm talent materials? farm minerals? farm food items that I never use due to how powerful my characters have become?
I visit the knights of favonious hq and never saw jean nor lisa. can't even see barbara or rosaria around the church or diluc in dawn winery. I go to liyue and can't even spot keqing or ganyu. go to the kamisato estate and not even a sighting of thoma.

However, now a days I don’t want to beat all those at ones as I’ll end up in the same boat again where I’m constantly waiting for the next update. But as far as gameplay “end game” I’d love a combat event like Hiakunin Ikki or the Vibro Crystal(especially this one) where. There’s not a time limit but rather a time window, you have three minutes to do as much damage as possible. I know it’ll get stale after a few runs but if you keep up the mundane events like photography and tea pot event having a combat event every patch will keep everyone interested for a bit until an actual game mode or “end game” content is implemented

@@fine2335 Game play loop that's really it. Example if you removed resin what happens.
Either rates are tanked or your have the freedom to grind as much as possible.
The value of resin is its use as a resource sink. Leveling up characters is consistent.
If you use condensed or regular resin you will always be given a certain amount. The time it takes isn't that long so talents levels, weapon material, ascension there consistent and can be done very quickly
So Artifacts just create an artificial game play loop think about it like Pokémon
Standard level progression gets the job done it. But the Meta is EV and IV training its a game play loop that's mostly RNG
So in competitive play its vital but Only in competitive. Genshin is an easy game and you'll get good artifacts eventually just from boss drops
But for non casuals or meta its just a resource sink like if you have 1000000 Mora your not going to stress about leveling talents or buying things because nothing effects the amount. As a player you have nowhere to use that resource.
Primogen are basically worthless. They have value because people want new characters but most characters aren't really better just niche or a side grade.
But your brain doesn't like the idea of a resources not being used you see that number accumulate just from passive play and so your going to be itching to spend.
Resin stops having a purpose if there's no time sink but removing it means people will basically grind out the content because you've removed the game loop.

I would love some kind of randomized dungeon or area that resets and lays out differently after a period. With puzzle, combat and even lore rooms connected together in different ways with chests with endgame drops and multiple routes. I think genshin is at its strongest when you are exploring and opening chests with activity and puzzle challenges. Something with repeating assets reused in smart ways with decent reward would have been very good to have had in the game at launch to keep people playing between updates with relatively less work than a whole new area. They could remove resin from artifact domains and use it to pay to force a refresh of the dungeon early or something like that instead. You could get deeper into the dungeon faster with better teams on a run and reach more chests with rarer drops, like transient resin or new items like artifact rerolling mats etc.
There are so many directions they could go with endgame and its frustrating how they have basically done nothing since launch about it. I think they just don't really care because it already makes more money than games that put actual thought and effort into endgame. So they think, why bother? No rush.

There is no such thing as endgame content in this game. The true endgame is filing for bankruptcy.
The core gameplay of genshin are:
    1) Primo farming - Dailys, Events, Exploration, -hangout, teapot- and abyss.
    2) Gacha
    3) Character Building - Ascension mats farming, talent maxing, weapon refining and artifact grinding.
    4) Abyss
The game is meant to be played as:
    Farm primo/whale -> wish -> build that character -> abyss -> repeat
Until you realize that the only reason why you're building your character is so that you can beat mats bosses faster. -Not to farm faster- since you don't have resin to get any reward.
    Genshin priorities:
    1) Sell you their banners - well yeah... uhh... Duuhh.
    2) Keep players playing - the only reason why character building and artifact grinding is f-ing long. So that they can keep selling you their banner until the next banner comes.
The scenario is: while you're farming trash, they would release a new character that will entice you to whale.
    3) Don't reward players -
What MihoyCogverse knows and why no changes will ever happen:
    1) Despite how vocal the players/content creators are; with their feedback and complaints. Genshin knows that those people are the ones that truly loved this game. They are just passionate to make the game better/to improve it. (Genshin knows you're a tsundere so they just ignore you and abuse you.)
    2) Ignore Twitter
    3) Artists in the community are free marketing slaves.
    4) Toxicity in the community doesn't affect the player's experience.
    5) Arknight Endfield, 7DS Impact and Tower of Fantasy are not a threat. Genshin knows eventually that they would have competition but it will be more like how Fortnite and PUBG. Overwatch to Valorant exist together.
    6) No matter how wishful you are to the company to be more generous. They are not obligated to do anything since they didn't promise anyone anything in the first place. No matter how dirty clickbaiters are with their lies and fakehype you should filter them out or just completely avoid them. (When mihoyoverse cancels this 420 event they would give more primos. The event: exclusive leyline fragile resin.)
    7) The system is 100% complete. Any new content that will give repeatable primo like dailys will absolutely hurt their sale. (No rewards fishing let's go!)
The true endgame content is Divorce Simulator. You the husband and genshin is your wife. She will take everything and leaves you nothing.

Instead of spending budget for more content they thought it'd be better to just make progress absurdly long and random.
And lose progress for using a +20 artifacts for a fodder only to turn +16 and less and less...
Other gacha games tend to shower us with characters after characters that they don't need something purely RNG such as artifacts to keep player retention with a sense of progression.
Even though too much characters require lots of budget and would make them more forgettable at least the way I see it that is a better way to keep players busy grinding for progress.
Alternatively, adding a new progress ceiling such as character lv +100 or awakening and stuff could be a good option to be lighter on the budget but still being a new content and more things to do.

One place I kept going in Watatsumi island was that puzzle with the magic square. I was always intrigued since I solved it and the next day, it had another puzzle. Genshin's puzzles have a simple, easy logic. Most are thigns like lights-out in disguise, or use some math pattern, so why not resetting them?
Also, there's the 4x of RPGs Quest Design: Exploring, Expanding, Exploiting and Exterminating. Fetch quests are boring because it only has the first two in mind. We have puzzles with big mechanisms, why only use them in their world quests? Why not add for example, hilichurl towers in Kannazuka for us to destroy with Kamujima cannons once i na while instead of some boring location. I always feel satisfied when ther are bombs near their camps, let me bombard them!
Another example: Liyue have the Guizhong Ballista we fixed before, why can't we have an "archery" puzzle where we aim it the furthest possible? Some peoople already do with archers, so why not make with the ballista into an actual minigame?
One example of minigame they didn't do well was the tracking part of weekly "boss" commissions. We just Elemental trace things, find a random ass light and Paimon reiterates the strength and weakness of the boss we already saw. Why not make it so by only finding these places, not by elemental trace but by real items( Or use it like Witcher 3 uses, where sound and sight also helps with tracking) we can pinpoint the enemy location and it's weakness, so we have plenty of time choosing what characters we should use at this time, and make the boss actually hard, like a world boss like Regisvine or Hypostasis, or even put a Regisvine or a Hypostasis, maybe two at once for a real challenge.

I think they unknowingly tested this out with the bounty system in which there is a boss that is stronger than usual that takes increased damage from x source and is immune to y source of damage. The reason the bounty system was unpopular was that it was tedious and so they revamped it in inazuma. The problem then arises for those who have already unlocked the wings of all regions as there is no incentive to continue doing bounties. Additionally, to those of us who are looking for endgame content, the mobs in bounties are simply to weak. Overworld mobs just aren’t threatening, and that extends to those with a bounty. This brings me to how they could implement this system into the game. Pokepark is an extremely underrated game but there is a clever idea that could be implemented here which are their minigames. For context, pokepark is a Pokémon theme park (with only pokemon no people) and each park within the park has its own theme (i.e. the meadow zone, beach zone, iceberg zone, lava zone, haunted zone, etc.) and within each zone there were pokemon that led attractions that were in theme with the zone. In the beach zone Gyrados ran a swimming race, in the meadow zone venusaur ran a vine swing. And then there where miscellaneous attractions like Rhypherior’s beyblade battles. There were leaderboards and rewards for using certain pokemon for events and reaching certain scores. The Windblume festival had an event where mona scored x in the challenge and klee scored y and we were trying to beat those scores. So what if there were npcs throughout mondtstat that held little minigames such as glide in this race and another that was fight these mobs that are immune to all damage but anemo, and another that was immune to anemo, or only use mondstat characters, or only 4 stars, or only c6 characters, and some were time trials and others were sustaining challenges. Then they could have a mock scoreboard of use x mondstat character and get this score. And then there was a scoreboard that tracked your own scores, another that tracked your friends, and another that tracked the entire servers. And it would help bring endgame content, it would incentivize building more characters and would be a way for players to compete with each other that doesn’t require c6r5 because you’d be competing with your friends and for those who want to try and maintain the number one spot they can get a trophy to put in their teapot and it would say “number 1 spot in Mary’s anemo challenge from 12/6/2022 15:06:34-12/6/2022 15:08:37.” And there will always be people who will prioritize one event over another so those who have xiao will really focus on the anemo damage attraction because they have the only anemo dps while those who have itto will focus the geo attraction.

As a busy person, Genshin now is full of content to me because I can only play game for around one hour every day. And I love that Genshin never lets me lost any primogems, then I don't need to spend too much money for my favorite characters. I can save primogems and wait for my children (I'm a kind of mama fan, not looking for husbando or waifu in this game). But I cannot get that many rewards with some other online games if I only take an hour everyday to play. Before Genshin, I usually play offline games, which have fixed content and no new event or new stories until their new released game packs. Somehow, Genshin gives me enjoyable experience with online game. And in my opinion, Genshin's story telling and world design are really good. I just hope that I can have more time to explore Teyvat every day.

Absolutely no weather in this game. Because of that, you literally are forced to pull the newest shiny character and their weapon at the minimum in order to keep up in Abyss. And if you can’t keep up, you get less Crystal rewards. It’s cool in theory but the way it’s most likely going to be implemented is going to make this game not so f2p friendly anymore

I can't fathom why we don't have more costumes in game. Like friendship 10 with a character should unlock some sort of perk. Even a crappy one. Like take for instance having Fischl and Bennet in a bog standard adventurers uniform. Lisa, Kaeya, Jean, Eula all in your average knight's outfit. It wouldn't be hard to do. Then for the archon having them in their archon type outfit (venti with wings, zhongli with his hood, raiden with the hair down).
I agree with dungeon style content with guaranteed good drops, like an elemental cup with 2 selectable sub stats or a billet etc. You could even have special team combos outside of the elemental resonance. Like 4 Liyue characters gives an extra bonus or a Knights of Favonius special or outsiders buff (shenhe, kazuha, beidou - people that felt like outcasts in life).
They could do match-ups? Abyss shadow fighting or something. Their characters look like shadow forms of their characters to the opponent and you go 1-1 with another player with a party of 4. It wouldn't be lore breaking really if it was set in the abyss saying it draws memories from the traveller about their companions. Or it's some kind of nightmare dimension or something where the MC has to fight against their friends.
I really do believe artifact farming shouldn't require resin. It's like the only thing worthwhile doing in the game when you've completed everything but it's all resin gated.

Amazing Video with an essential discussion but I have a question. Am I the only one who thinks the lack competitive or capable 4 star dps' is problematic? Some Genshin content is element specific and 5 star characters don't come often for f2p or Newer players. The most meta teams use a 5 star main dps and very select 4 stars with "broken" utility or specific synergy (Like Bennett/Xingqiu and Gorou/Diona Respectively). This problem is exaggerated by the 4* vs 5* rates of release. Having 5 hydro 5 stars but 2 hydro 4 stars seems problematic when someone just hasn't obtained a Hydro 5 star cause rng. 4 stars are the simple solution.

    • @akamistify
      @akamistify 2 года назад +5

There’s quite a few, rosaria, kaeya, xiangling, Ningguang, yanfei, just to name a few. Even fischl, although she’s weaker as a dps imo. it’s no surprise that a 5 star dps will be stronger than a 4 star dps, but you can clear anything in the game using just 4 stars. You don’t need the most meta characters or teams
Edit: I do agree with equalizing the amount of characters per element for 4 and 5 stars tho. Barbara ain’t cutting it if you need more than one hydro

I personally don't think this is a huge issue. 4* units have a very distinct advantage over 5* units; ease of obtaining constellations. Each 4* unit power spikes different with the amount of constellations, but it's often the case that a c4-c6 4* unit will outperform a c0 5* unit. People are still clearing abyss with 4* only teams so for the time being, I don't see 5*s as being strictly necessary to clear challenging content.
That being said, I do agree we should be introduced to a 4* onfield hydro DPS in the future just because it's not in the game yet.

    • @Krissakyra
      @Krissakyra 2 года назад +4

Yeah I can agree with this. While Rosa melt and taser are both quite good teams, that's about all you can do with only 4*s that's capable of clearing endgame at reasonable investment, which I think is a bit sad. People have said that it would be nice if they added some kind of "evolution" potential for 90'ing a character, actually it might be Vars that has a video about this lol, but it would be nice for units that have fallen off the meta or never made it in in the first place got another ability added to make them viable at least.

Is it really progress if enemies become stronger when you become stronger?
I've taken my time to upgrade characters and take part in events when they pop up. However, going for maximum rewards in events or in the Spiral Abyss just isn't really worth my time and effort. It gives me more time to enjoy other things in life, like your videos and other games.
GI suffers from AR60 being the cap, and at the moment, the serenitea pot undergoing maintenance problem. What are the goals of players after building what they wanted and reaching AR60? I'm on a clear save mode at the moment, with no idea when a character I want will sprout its head. I mean, I want more constellations for my Raiden and Sayu, but that's it. I don't care for all the characters and still have not pulled Razor despite playing for 1.5 years. He is really unseen for me.

While people talk about early game and late game (especially in mmos), few people talk about the mid game of games. The mid game is usually composed of 2 things, the early mid and late mid. Early mid is unlocking new regions, learning the more advanced aspects and becoming average to above average. Late game is tidying things up, participating in things you were looking forward to and the start of the end game grind. The mid game is either the most fun aspect of the game or the most monotonous.
Devs every must choose to focus on the introduction or the end game. As the game ages, the inbetween the start and end becomes wider and wider to the point where it becomes a very slow grind to get from lvl1 to lvl 100.
That is where i am at. The slow grind to catch up

  • @dontmicrowavecats

An interesting thing they do in Honkai is that once you "breakthrough" and hit lvl 81 your whole game changes. Abyss changes, memorial arena changes, you unlock a next phase in enhancing weapons etc. Leveling up in genshin is entirely useless, it gives you pulls and makes open world bosses tankier, that's it. So they can make open world changes to the game and not just abyss type of content to keep exploring relevant.

  • @severosmyst5613
    @severosmyst5613 2 года назад +1

I have a few ideas for additions to the games content, altered from other gacha games and RPGs I've played.
So one could be a sort of monthly changing boss you can grind free of charge, and the reward would be actually dependant on what "phase" you kill the boss in. It drops elemental gear specific to the subsequent phase that was killed.
For example, let's say this months (or weeks) boss is Water and Fire. If you get the kill during the fire phase you get a special set that's unique to that boss that has a different effect from the flame witch set.
Another idea would be domains that actually require co-operation from other players to complete. Now I don't know how this would be implemented fully but it's just a baseline. Once again, this could add a series of new sets depending on the day or they could be a bit more generous for higher or even lower tier ascension materials.

I can’t say I really agree. I’ve been playing for almost a year now. I have never cleared the spiral abyss. I simply do not care about it. Raids, bosses….I wouldn’t play them even if they did exist, so the fact they don’t doesn’t bother me.
What I care about and why I still play is exploration and building characters. I play 2 or 3 hours a day right now. Working on characters so when the next region drops I’ll be ready. The last thing I’d want is for some important item to be stuck behind a raid or something like that.
I know I’m probably a minority opinion on this channel but we still exist.

    • @weregretohio7728
      @weregretohio7728 2 года назад +2

Exactly the same as me. The only reason why I ever did the Abyss was because it was posed as endgame, a necessity with rewards... it sucks. So more combat and co-op and stuff doesn't sound fun.
At its core, this game was designed for exploration and character, so there's that. I can't think of a game that is quite the same. Any other game would be burying you in annoying tasks like raids and clans and whatnot to keep you "engaged." If they started doing that stuff, I'm sure it would become discouraging.

    • @zenzenitha
      @zenzenitha 2 года назад +1

Arguably not a minority. It's just people who usually think like you doesn't goes into discussion like this. Most people I know that still play this hardly got enough time to play more than 2 hours a day and when they do they do it casually. The constant gamers usually drop this already or just came back when new region pops out and finish the content in like few hour a day, skipping most thing and minmaxing with guide. I honestly don't understand the point of it, the game is just not meant to be rushed like that, it is designed for several hour max per day for casual, but overall the gamer racer part already got the high of this game back when it's new and couldn't find a way to scratch their itch when at the end they found out it's not for them.
People have to admit genshin is not as trash as people make it to be, the have stellar production. Every character have distinct moveset that suit their character, if it's similar they're related in some kind, same with flavor text and world building. Lore peppered everywhere, its rewarding for people that want to went on a discovery and adventure. The music, art direction, animation, voice acting, all top notch.
I personally love it exactly because there's a certain bar that makes me play accordingly and doesn't feel I'm missing out much if I couldn't play it. I never finish abyss either it's not my thing. And similar with you I did fighting event just for the primo.
I have to admit tho genshin tried to be everything all at one and please every player type, It's the poison they choose

Honkai Impact (another gacha game made by mihoyo) has a much more robust end game. honkai's abyss equvilant resets every few days. They also have another game mode called memorial arena, you have 5 daily attempts and your gaol is to do as much dmg as posible, there's 3 diffrent bosses and your overal points gets calculated for which ranking of loot you get, this also resets evey few days. They also have co op raids that resets every few days.
Bosses and abyss have diffrent weathers where diffrent elemetal dmg does more dmg along with other effects such as the boss having sheilds or needing diffrent debufs, this forcses you to build a team to deal with each issue.
I really hope genshin gets some more end game conet, it's starting to get really sad

Horde. Mode. All the good points of combat like mauling groups of enemies, being able to freely construct parties, all without the negatives of SA with timed DPS checks limiting character role options and strategies, stalling enemies, etc. Endless horde mode takes the "bad" point of eventually grossly outscaling all your enemies and turns it into a good point of giving you the chance to freely perform carnage and if it scales it also adds difficulty all on its own without having to do the things in SA everyone hates to deal with. Even easy to add scaling rewards.
