    The Nuki is so loud. I hadn't noticed how loud it is in your other videos. It makes even the August locks sound quiet, and I thought August were loud.... SwitchBot really have this mechanism down to a fine art. It's gorgeously quiet

      I didn't know how loud it was until comparing with SwitchBot. But must add that Nuki has load (key/lock) while SwitchBot is free turning and that probably also has some impact on the noise.

      @@BeardedTinker may have a small impact yeah, but still loud for a modern day lock 😊

      @@BeardedTinker would you consider swapping them (if you haven't already) and do a new comparison? Depending on the amount of load required for your lock it could make the Nuki feel a bit less bad perhaps?😂
      Definitely know which one I'll be going for after moving in a few months ;)

    Do you know if the newest version of both locks are similar in sound levels as their predecessors?

    • @BeardedTinker

      Unfortunately, no. I do have new SwitchBot Lock Pro, but it's still in the box. As far as Nuki is concerned, I'll not be testing new one as I'm trying to move away from it (or Nuki overall).

    Fake. SwitchBot under no load as there’s no lock turning.

      @@BeardedTinker It's sounds like the Switchbot is not actually spinning a key in a lock, that would also explain why it is so quiet. My Switchbot is way louder 😅

    Why not just use a normal key? By the time you open with an app you could be inside the house with the kettle on

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  Год назад

      Are you sure? Since it has proximity sensor and it unlocks when you approach the door even if hands are full 😉

      @@BeardedTinker just don’t see why it’s needed actually takes longer and it’s louder , if anything it would wake people up, surely having a key is easy enough and quicker

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  Год назад

      Again, not really agree on that one - in terms of noise. Actually, standing next to door if closed, on the outside you can barely hear it. And on the inside, room away, you can't hear it too.
      Maybe, in the countryside, during the night, when HVAC and everything is off, you could hear it a room or two away. And again. key is in the pocket and you need to take it out. While proximity is just that - when you get close it unlocks even with full hands.
      It's definitely not for everyone but again, it's great option.

      @@GamingCornerYT you're just not used to it, that's why you think so. It's understandable. Once you've entered the world of smart locks, its hard to go back to a regular key. To me, locking with the push of a button or touch is the time saver, especially when you have kids or dogs or both. You don't need to fumble for keys when coming home.

      For me it is also a good insurance if I forget my key. Phone or watch are always with me when I leave the door. I still carry the key for the rare occasions where the battery suddenly is flat
