Thank you for this great explanation! I bought an online course that focuses on 2 color brioche, and the instructions for this bind off were waaaay too confusing, and not as clear as yours. Thanks again!

Hi Suzanne, I have 2 questions: 1. How do I work kitchener if my edge starts with a purl stitch? 2. How did you do that invisible Cast On for brioche stitch?
Hi Sara, if you first st is a purl, just start with going through the purl knitwise and then come to the front and go through the knit stitch as if to purl. Then follow the steps for the purl leading. For the Invisible CO for the single color brioche - I thought I had a video for that, but see that I do not. I will make one. So if you have subscribed, you should get a notice for that video. Thank you for commenting with your questions, and happy knitting.
Actually, it does not take as much yarn as you might think. I have bound off a shawl collar that started at the bottom on the right, went up the right side, around the back of the neck of the shawl collar and all the way down to the bottom of the left side, without difficulties. Work a swatch, measure your tail before starting the BO, do the BO, then measure to see how much is left. That will guide you. Hugs and Happy Knitting.
Thank you so much! Just finished binding off my swatch. Your instruction is really clear and easy to follow.
Wonderful to hear! You are so welcome! 😊
Excellent! You should be up for the "Knitting Guru of the Year" award - for some outfit!! :)
+dukeofpurl Thanks so much! I take that as a compliment. Happy knitting, Suzanne
+Suzanne Bryan That's the way it was meant - as a compliment!! Did I make the comment sound a bit off to you? Wasn't my intention at all!!! :(
All is good. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
:/
Thanks!
Hugs.

About how much yarn are we setting aside for the tail? 5 times the width of the piece or ia that too much?
I think 5 times would be good. too short is a real bummer. You can always trim off excess.
is this the bind off you recommend if we are doing 1 color brioche ribbing for our ITAG cardigan?
Yes, you can use this, or you can use the standard bo in k1p1 pattern.
Can this BO be used for shoulders that will be stitched together?
If you are going to BO a fabric that will be seamed, I would use a standard BO, it has much more structure.
I can't find the cast on video you reference here...

Oh, this isnt really feasable for wide pieces, only socks and cuffs because you cant really work with a 5metre tail .
