I’m 56 and relatively fit (5’ 8”@ 160). I started my 70.3 training about a year ago and one thing I’m finding is that my tendons are taking the brunt of the pain. Plantar Fasciitis and tendons in the shoulder are the worst for me. It keeps me from training to my potential. I’m going to keep going but it’s not easy.

Both of those things are common in even much younger people and can certainly be managed. Keep at it and despite these I’m sure you will be stronger and healthier in many other ways that will matter much more.

Don’t count your years, make your years count.

It's an interesting topic. I'm 60 this year, I've been relatively active throughout all my life without ever really being a 'good' athlete. A short legged mesomorph, I'm more suited to explosive sports like Judo and climbing than endurance sports, which seems to suit long legged ectomorphs. I took up triathlon 3 years ago, I'm interested to see how fast a short legged mesomorph can actually get. At the moment I fine, but not competitive, even in my age group.

Good to hear. Keep at it, there are too few triathletes in their 60s!
