Burn the Heretic! Sorry, couldn't resist. That was a great breakdown/presentation of all the different reading options in Warhammer. I've been dabbling for the last few months and my enjoyment is author based. I appreciate the "here are the ground rules" approach from the company and then a fair amount of freedom for the author to poke the bear.
Thank you for all the recommendations And thank you for putting 40k into context and shared guidance on how to interpret the works I also appreciate you going against the typical recommendation of the eisenhorn trilogy. I also enjoyed those books and don’t think they are the best entry point anymore I really enjoyed double eagle. I’ve been thinking of doing an audiobook re-read soon I’m glad Gaunt’s ghosts got a mention. I prefer that series as an intro to the universe Thank you for calling out the women authors. I’ve been meaning to get to deathworlder and the rose at war soon I’m really pleased Warhammer crime got a mention. I think those are great for what life in the imperium is really like, and probably my favourite because of the mystery elements I love pretty much any story featuring Baggit and Clodde, including the Wraithbone Phoenix I also love the ork books written by Mike Brooks
@@rayniebee outside of the Horus Heresy books, many of the other books are either standalone or in much shorter series (and most of the books are on the small end for fantasy / sci-fi) The main hurdle is how comfortable you are with being a huge universe with tons of lore, some of which might be assumed in some books
This video could not have been better timed for me, ha ha. I've been circling around getting into the Warhammer books, but trying to figure out a good jumping off point has been...a lot. I went down like a week-long rabbit hole on the wiki just reading about who the hell all the Primarchs are. The lore is endless. 😂
Damn it, Andrew - you've just exploded my wish-list with all these Warhammer goodies! Great video 😀

Oh 100% the author really makes the story.

I'm not sure if I'll get into Warhammer, because I generally struggle with series, but I just love listening to you talk about stuff.
Thanks so much!
