    I left 20 years ago now .
    The biggest crane was the DEMAG 9600 I hv used to lift upper structures of Paris stadium .
    What a fantastic technical progress uptill now ...
    Congratulations to the mates and family which stays as exemple !!

    Although I had the opportunity I would never run such a large crane, Too slow and too few lifts, but it's great that it is possible to lift 3000 tonnes.
    Great video - thanks for that you would share it with us :-)

      @@conclaveluminis Have you seen soem of the stones that were moved around the world 12,000+ years ago.

      @@DieterSoegemeier Where?

    • @conclaveluminis
      @conclaveluminis 3 года назад +1

      @@DieterSoegemeier I respectfully disagree. The largest monolith moved by man was the "Thunder stone" of Saint Petersburg. The estimated mass of the thunderstone (calculated by volume) is 1,250 metric tonne. There is a 1,500 metric tonne (cut stone) at Baalbek, Lebanon however, the stone was not moved and remains in location at the quarry.

    • @DieterSoegemeier
      @DieterSoegemeier 3 года назад

      @@conclaveluminis Yes but they would not have cut ut if they could not move it.
      Have a look at rhe ones holding up the temple mount in Israel and the ones they have now found in Russia that are many times as big as the one in Baalbek.
      The point is that we are not as advanced as we like to think, because the ancients moved them without a crane.

      Industry as well as energy plants or others require more and more capacity and or radius or lifting high.
      Actually the Sarens 's biggest crane is on long term renting in england erecting the 2 nuclear power plants
      At Hinkley point.
      When you are able to build / test the units in the manufacture and later on move and erect directly at site the
      Safety is much higher than move
      Parts and " weld " on the spot which
      Most of time wld be impossible for pressured vessels...
      So the capacity of équipments follows exactly the market requirements.
      Nobody will draw invest and build such unit without requirements.
      During seventies Manitowoc Lampson and Gottwald were leaders with 600 to 1000 tons capacities.
      Gin poles were used as alternative.
      As from the beg of century thé growing up of technology unable very advanced technologies firms like Mammoet or Sarens to imagine
      Bigger than Liebherr or Demag the actual leaders for cranes series upto
      1500 / 2000 tons about.
      It is a giant effort for engineers and computers to calculate correct efforts in any combination of lest
      Lenght of booms including wind and safety coef...
      Millions of calculations...
      In the same time thé crane has to remain " flexible " and possible to transport " everywhere" nice Engineering work forr Benny' s Sarens team.
      Imagine Sarens was still some years ago a family company !!!!
      Full respect .

      All heavy lift cranes take much labor too erect them. Even large mobile cranes can take almost an entire day to rig.
      many times there is more man hours in the set up and take down of a crane than there is in actual hours of work needed to be done, but there is no getting around it. These machines are too big and too heavy to trans port in even a semi complete form.
