      Well, he should have called out Lindell. The same way Moses called out Aaron in Ex 32. Lindell should lead them towards God, not to sin nor to to himself. God punishes sinners, not the sin.

      Agreed!! He was telling the flock what was before them-the spirit of Jezebel.
      Pastors are to protect the flock!! That’s what Pastor Mark was doing protecting them. Also, he’s been doing a teaching about the prophet Elijah.

      People who use scripture to justify their own agenda and defend themselves rather than the Word, are the epitome of the snake in the garden, and of the Pharisees Jesus spoke out against (publicly and not in private). Mark only used the Word to address something he and others saw as unaligned. God's favor will be on Mark in this.

    This was NOT a Matthew 18 example.
    This was a PUBLIC display of an ungodly performance; NOT a private offense between the two pastors and Mark called it out, as he SHOULD have.

    • @jimdefazio8649
      @jimdefazio8649 Месяц назад +1

      Absolutely. And if he would privately mentioned something to Lindell he probably wouldn’t have had to platform to say anything publicly anymore and Mark wouldn’t have had the opportunity to address the entire crowd. Lindell did the same thing that the religious leaders did to Jesus and the prophets.

    • @dizzyizz16

  • @Cuzzasedso
    @Cuzzasedso Месяц назад +812

    Go privately to others for their private sins. But it was Lindell that made this act public before his audience in the first place, so Driscoll addressing it publicly is appropriate.

    • @amywuester136
      @amywuester136 Месяц назад +96

      🎯 public sin calls for addressing it publicly. Not once did Mark reference John. He didn't say John had the spirit of Jezebel. He didn't even call him out for having the stripper there. He called out the stripper. John took it personally because he had arranged it. It was his idea that was getting attacked and so he threw a little fit.

      I Tim. 5:20 says Elders who sin should be called out and rebuked in public … John’s quoting a verse about “in private” is about regular believers - 1 Tim 5 is talking about “Elders” / pastors - so it is more relevant here in this situation than Matt 18 !

    • @T77965296
      @T77965296 Месяц назад +45

    He’s taking Matthew 18 out of context, which is about private matters. The pastor didn’t offend Mark. The stripper offended Christ and His church. It was a public display that deserved a public response. Perhaps Mark could have mentioned it to the pastor, but it’s also likely he may have decided in the moment to bring it up. That pastor is notorious for lacking discernment. He failed the men of the conference by not calling out the stripper in the moment calling him out of line, but was totally fine, in his offense, to call Mark out of line for speaking truth.

Maybe that would have been a good time for somebody on staff to protest a display of filth in a church. Interesting that John also chose to admonish Mark publicly. So which is it John? And there shouldn't be ANYTHING that occurs at a Christian conference that cannot be discussed publicly. Were I in Mark's shoes, I'd have left the conference when the stripper came out, and privately contacted John, demanded to know who hired/authorized the stripper, and correct them. If John was uncooperative/unrepentant, and refused to apologize to the attendees, then I would take steps to "censure" him.
