Spent a lot of time in that water back in the day. Santa Cruz used to be my Shangri La. Man I miss those days. PS Watch out for all the damned vampires. 😉
Hey, that’s me in the thumbnail. Thanks for the shots Brad. On Friday 11/25 the swell got huge and I ended up snapping my leash and losing that board. Heaviest swim in and hold downs I’ve ever had out there.
finally someone covering this massive swell in santa cruz! I was out there yesterday on the next beach over, and we probably were within 2000 feet of eachother! great video!
I don’t surf but I do live in Santa Cruz and it was fun to see it from a different perspective. I walk along west cliff fairly often and love the view so much.
Excellent video! I shot my first published photo at Steamer Lane 55 years ago. The magazine went belly up before they paid me. I enjoyed the long board that went cruising along right in the middle. Can't wait to see the next one!
I appreciate surfing more because of your video. Thanks for sharing. Go near by to Natural Bridges where the mass migration of Monarch butterflies are now.
I am so thankful for your thoughtfulness to film some of our Memorial plaques. Pieces of our hearts! He was my "Uncle Wally" Waldemar as I am his Niece and was he was Larger than life! Ask about him :) Beautiful filming with uplifting sounds. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you for sharing
Great video!! No matter how long I surf still love Indicators and Cowell's. If it is a good day, 3-4 ft and the sand bottom is right, you can catch a wave for about 200-250 yards. Good times!! Keep it up Brad! 🌊🤙🎨
I moved from HB to Soledad in 2010. Surfed the Lane through that winter, great waves, surfed it mid afternoon and it would still be good. Good vibes, no hassles at all when small, big or bigger... Did I say it was cold, yes, ice cold but a great experience. Thanks for the post and bringing back some nice memories of Santa Cruz. Subbed
California is surfers' heaven. If you are willing to drive, there are waves to be had all year round. At steamers, when it is fifteen feet or bigger, 10 minutes further north at Natural Bridges State Park is a totally tubular right breaking on a slab of rocks.
Great video! Can I ask what kind of tripod/or at least pan head that you use. For me it's not for shooting surfing but I need something that's smooth and doesn't demand two years of getting used to. I know that Sachtler tripods are the top of the line, and they have several different options. But any feedback would be super appreciated. Thanks.
@@BradJacobson Hi Brad. Cool of you to respond to my question re: kit. I've used a Monfrotto head a few times and struggled a bit. That said, I imagine if I were to use one more often I'd have a better feel for it. Your pans are super smooth. It's good to know that one doesn't have to have a Sachtler tripod to get those results. I gather the carbon legs would be lighter than what you've been using up till now? One last thing: I grew up surfing in So. Cal. I live in NY now and so many surf videos become a bit repetitive after a while, but the way you put yours together with you in them, it makes them really personal and fun to watch. Keep up the good work.
Great job Mr Jacobson! We like to see you getting out of LA. Please show us some more waves up there, maybe some secret spots like moss landing or Scott’s creek beach break
Thanks but no body ever reads these , , its cool u can even do this work but please no more annoying music in the beginning maybe just sounds of the waves , the surf tunes was OK.
I read em! Music is a beast when producing so many episodes. I try to mix it up each episode. My most recent episode (Wedge) I stuck with the raw sound.
Brings back memories…surfed SC since 1969…now just surf on RUclips in my lazyboy

Awesome! You got one of the most beautiful waves I saw while there 👍
Cool 😎 stuff, what an honor.
Is that the wave at 8:24 ?

I was there end of october, first time in California. Went to see the sea lions, then checked the surf... I was jelly bc you folks have everything! 😜
Moved to Santa Cruz in May after spending my whole 29 years in Illinois, it's an incredible place!
Wow! What a day. Offshore, good size, good times. Looked like a fun roady. Another great vid 🤙🤙
Thanks!
Great clips. Like to see some backdrops. I love seeing the background effect.
Thanks 👍
Home ♥️ miss Santa Cruz so much!
Gorgeous!!! I need to get myself back over to that beach again! I love Steamer Lane! Love that you included the surfer dude statue in this video!
Nice size waves for Santa Cruz

Thanks! Sorry to hear about you not getting paid.
Mr. Brad, another Epic video!!! Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work. You keep that surfing spirit Alive.
Thanks for the kind words

Yes, Indicators can be magic, the wave of 100 lip bashes.
Thank you
Welcome to Santa Cruz, the surf capital of Cali. Enjoy your stay.
Thanks. I had a blast
Stoked to see so much ripping being done at that photogenic, grin -maker spots. Very professionally done.
It was an awesome trip.
This is my home but I’m in Rome. Thanks for the reminder of the land of dreams!
Instant classic.Thanks bro!
Thank you

Watching you from Santa Cruz about 10 minutes from Steamers Lane
New sub . Thanks for the footage.
Thanks for the sub!
PERFECT
Ahhh the West Side...🤙
Another cool video, great job, question what kind of raybans are those?
Nice Video.
Thanks!
I was there, was amazing
Bring your best cut back when visiting the 'Lane', you're gonna need it.

I use Monfrotto legs with a spreader and an older Monfrotto 501 head. I’ll update the legs to carbon next

The waves called to you.
The "Slot" is always hot!
loved the video man. story telling Casey Neistat would be proud of!
There’s some Casey inspired moments in this one for sure. 👍

No
Got out of your tour routine just needed a surf road trip Buddy - solo is difficult
Stoked I took the time to get away even if it was only a couple days.
West cliff? It’s only 15-20 minutes away from me.
think I've seen u out there bro nice
Stop and say hi!
At 3:13 ... I don't know if this was on purpose or not but you're looking at an Outback when you say you're looking out back.
Hahaha. I didn’t catch that. I’ll have to go back and check it out.
A road trip to SC in the Fall, is a good call. Winter too.
Thanks for the shots of us, let me know if we can get any of your clips?🤙
Great meeting you. We gotta film more often
amazing footage!! your clips are so smooth. what tripod and fluid head do you use?
Thanks. I use Monfrotto legs with an older monfrotto fluid video head
Love living here. It's too bad it's such a blue City
yay politics on a surf video! 🤮
So genderless and non binary then?😂
That was a sign of a flood coming a month later.
38 degrees in the AM
Wait… is this a surf vid? Or a single old guy’s travelogue?
this guy looks like the dude from AIRWOLF
Jan Michael Vincent
Brad next time your in Santa Cruz go to west cliffs which is like 10 minutes north of where you were. On NW swells it’s basically J-Bay
He was literally at The Lane. Did you watch the video? Oh and BTW, we just call it Westcliff 😁
Yeah I call it mitchels
He’s already on Westcliff. 😂
The lane is a horrible wave. Check moss landing, pleasures, the harbor. Or go 5 miles north
does this make El Porto look really bad by comparison?👎
