What decks should I rate next time?
Karma Sett, Samira Fizz
Teemo ezreal
Pyke Rek'sai pls
Darknesss
Draven/Sion from when the Twinblade Revenant still had challenger instead of fearsome.
I'm surprised you didn't include Ezreal/Karma because it was a meta king for the whole beginning of runeterra
it was THIS close but I already mentioned 2 ezreal decks, I'll make sure to include it next time though
@@Snnuy I think ezreal deserve a crown as meta king then
I believe the first two king decks ever were Fearsome Midrange (Hecarim/Elise) and Ezreal Freeze which eventually used Elnuks
@@jolty404 elnuks got very quickly nerfed EZ/Karma stayed there for a long time
@@infarctus4206 true, and dont forget pirate aggro
Do more of this. I love reminiscing the old OP decks. Every time there's some broken shit like Kai Sa, I think back and wonder if its worse than something like balde dance or not
I would love more of that. Learning Runeterra meta history is very entertaining.
I miss tri-beam decks, it was such an incredibly fun deck.
No
@@Chiefrocka. yes
Oh my, I wonder where Azirelia will be
Does someone remember the Poppy Era? It was not 1, but 3 Poppy deck that was in 80% of the matchup. Every bandle deck was running her
Poppy zed was extremely miserable especially with all the previous demacia cards, i cant remember what other poppy decks there were tho
I cant believe she was printed as 4/3 in the beginning. It took several patches to kick her from tier 1 status and even as 2/3 she was still good.
Same with Gnar. Considering the entirety of the BC expansion, that was the meta that actually got me to leave the game for a period. I only came back because Annie brought some cool stuff to Noxus.
Poppy decks also played the tree. Disgusting deck.
@@ADoomain its either poppy zed or poppy lulu that really ruled the meta at the time, idk what else.
Tribeam meta is peak LoR for me. The way this deck want to interact is almost like a puzzle, and yes there was a moment where this deck literally has infinite value and never run out of cards, but the one where you CAN actually run out of cards is the most fun.
Especially the mirror, goddamn the mirror make the game become almost a chess-like mind games.
I love learning about the legacy of the LoR meta!! I started playing around when Jhin/Annie were released, so everything before that is so interesting to hear about.
My biggest frustration with blade dance was playing against it in PoC, there it was even more frustrating because of PoC powers
I would honestly love another one of these some time, it was so much fun to watch.
The one mono Shurima Meta was definitely a tier 0 format, not just tier 1
ngl i love this sort of tier list; it’s just so much fun comparing the different points in the history of LOR to each other
Imagine having a game mode where you can choose different version of cards. I wonder what deck will be the strongest.
I'm so sorry for everyone who lost to Azirelira but, I started playing at the time Irelia was released, and the deck was featured in the store so me as a new player, made a deck inspired by that list, and it was so much fun winning with a million attacking cards every turn, I didn't even realised it was broken amd nerfed until I started to watch runeterra on RUclips
Ditto here. Started around that time too, closer to the Sentinel event. I was naive to say the least
Yeppp, totally love this concept! Beside of deck probably keyword or specific card would be good to rate too!
yeah, we have to continue this. I remember there was a deck that plays droplet on one and zed on two using retreat retun and was very annoying
For those who weren't there at the time some of these decks were played and don't understand why they were broken, almost every card that was shown in this video were shown in their current, post-nerfed version. Legit almost all of them were either cheaper or stronger in the day.
I loved this. I started on runeterra like 4 months ago so i didn't get to meet a lot of those decks, thats why this video was so interesting to me. Please do more i love ur content esnui
Please more tier list content like this!! I would love to see you do variety / comedy stuff too, kind of like what skooch used to do, like a tier list of League champs by how good of a wingman they would be, I love your sense of humor and want to see more of it
I loved the tri-beam meta cause my favorite thing ever in runeterra was playing ezreal Swain were you just used ezreal as a way to get additional removal and win the game with Swain or tri-beam. This deck made it so Swain was and still is my favorite champ
The biggest gap I've ever had in playing the game, was a month and a half when azir and irelia came out. I remember i tried a zilean concept and just got ate alive. Took a 3 week break, logged back in, got ate alive again, took a 4 week break.
YES DO ONE WITH ALL OF THEM
Please do another one of these, this video was so fun to watch
I remember mogwai and swim back in may 2020 saying that the meta we were on was gonna be the best meta ever on lor's existence. I didn't believe it, I thought this game had the potential to be what the CEO himself wanted: the best competitive card game ever created.
But then, something changed:
Patches went from a 2 week period to a 1-2 month period; they refused to include balance changes on new cards's release.
Then aphelios, go hard happened, and THEN: Azir/irelia.
At that moment I was starting to believe those words I've heard a year ago, but I still had faith on the game, they just needed to start caring about it again and improve it's frequency on which things are touched, and start reworking a few aspects of the game that were miserable to play against.
Time passed, nothing changed: Things were still as stale as it was for about half a year or even more: They even encouraged players to play these mistakes of decks they've created by printing even more support.
Eventually they came into realisation and nerfed that deck to the ground, so a little light of hope appeared. But the manners on which they were on, those didn't change. They still were as careless about the game (competitive aspect, of course) as they were since, idk, october 2020 or so.
The game started to lose competitive players, rock paper scissors was not the game we had before.
At this point I was still hoping for a change, but on the 26th of april, 2022, those hopes were extinguished for good: cast and play mechanics were merged into one, and burst pass was no longer a thing.
This major change meant something to me: "We no longer care about interaction, about priority, we no longer want to see players trying to bait out a response, to counter a certain action, we just want you to play your game without caring about what your opponent does :) "
A game looking for being the number 1 in terms of competitiveness and they do what? This? Of course this change single-handedly meant something very important: Riot no longer wants that. Now they just want a card game made for casuals who play on the toilet a game or two and want to spam their cards and do shiny things without caring about your opponent, and THAT is not what I want.
I was here for the ride, hoping to see one of the best cards game on existence being created, but those words were, at the end, true nonetheless: LoR's prime passed a while ago, and I wish I played more of it while I had the chance.
Veiled Temple was the quintessence of Kill me please, you Targon worshipping monster
There were so many broken decks way back in the day that swim made. Devs literally had to remove interactions from the game. Zed Elusives stand alone was absolutely cancerous to play against.
whatevwr happened to Swim anyway?
@@patch1968 cancelled
2 of my fav decks were kaisa panth on her release and lurkers around the same time. Pretty much only played them two
Great content! Make a tournament of all the most broken decks of all times, takeing 3 or 4 from the worst of every video like this
I enjoyed this video, please do more. I notice btw that you tend to like champions despite them being broken or in a broken deck, and I share that sentiment for the most part. I think that' why the general update of champions over time have been so healthy for the game (before rotation) because you can then properly enjoy those cards in an environment where they fit better into the game balance wise.
Curious as to what was missed as ive missed quite a lot of LOR.
Looking at it it seems karma sett, ez karma, lurk could he options. Fiora shen i think was a big thing? (Im speculating and guessing). Just crazy to see how many potential decks could be here. Fated as well as im still watching the video was so outrageous
Oh boi Fiora Shen was disgusting back in the day even if you dont include Shen and just make it Mono Fiora deck it still tier 1
I actually liked the Ahri Kennen era, because I had a lot of success with Vladimir Braum against them, playing every "deal 1 do everything" card
It would be good to have like a game mode where you can choose which patch version you want to play
Oh man, I came to this game around the end of tf fizz and the release of aphelios. Played through every meta including blade dance, Ahri kennen, kai’sa, Nami Zoe, and so many others. It’s sad to see that what killed the game for me was ezreal seraphine. I still watch your vids but I can bring myself to play any longer which sucks because I was just beginning to break into masters consistently
Back in the day when Pack your Bags was 1 mana I had made a completely broken Jinx Go Hard deck. I was wondering why no one played Go Hard with Jinx because you had so much discard and draw, you almost always had Pack your Bags + Rocket on turn 5 or 6 :P (Rummage was also 1 mana at this time)
2 Mana - wipe the enemy board + 9 to face, kinda miss those days 🫠
kennen ahri deck is what made me quit the game. literally the day of their release, i just played one game, witnessed the worst sinning conceivable, immediately uninstalled, and never looked back
Snnuy rocking that Slavic Cap style, I like it
Tbh I really enjoyed this video. It wasn't 1 hour long which is what I was excepting when I saw the title and this is good news for me. Another thing is I played LoR when its first came out and then quit the game untill couple months ago. Through this video I get the chance to learn what decks have been played in the past Idk how much of them still works but I really wanna try those decks when eternal ranked is playable.
loving these types of deck videos !
Sivir akshan was one of my favorite metas, peak interaction especially after they nerfed ruin runner, no surprises/rng
You should do a history of LoR meta to reminisce about the fun/pain of it all
I feel like there deserved to be at least one gnar deck in here, pre nerf pokey, conc and telescope with paper craft dragon gnar was very popular back then
I would LOVE more of this! Just subbed c:
Defiant Dance as a concept still baffles me today, like in League its Irelias get out of jail free card to avoid damage, so why wasnt it made into a fast spell that recalls an ally to Blade Dance so it can be used to save a unit from removal while still putting on some pressure?
But recalling ally then blade dance card is already exist
everyday i thank the lord for finding out and coming into Lor right after the azirelia meta 😔🙏🏻
Vi/Heimer, Karma/Ezreal, Darius Harrowing, Sion Aggro, Fizz Papercraft, Bannerman, Sivir/Zed, Shurima Seraphine OTK, Trundle/Asol, Elnuks w/ PnZ, They Who Endure
Remember that expansion with champions strength and acolytes reliquary? They hotfixed them after a week I think. I miss Ziggs rip my boi
Hmmm where poppy zigg when bandle have one thing like elite that plus +1-1 that got fast hotfix
Hecarim Zed Beta Version
Xerath Servent that got hotfix like 2 day after deck got some good experiment
LOVE this concept. More plz
Dont forget the poppy zed deck man. Poppy was something huge
Bro I miss TLC... Might have been a bit toxic, but it was such a cool way to mix combo with control.
Their should be an animation for the top decks going aganist each other
"If I did them all this would take three hours!"
Just going to say: I, personally, do not see that as a detriment.
Thought I was a nice guy until I saw both my favorite decks to use are Surrender Early and Kill Me tier lmao
puts blade dance into miserable, me thinking it deserves its own tier. snnuy doing it. me smashing that like button
My wish list of Bard buffs:
- Bard is now a 3 mana 1/5
- Cosmic Binding is now 4 mana
- Rito adds Meeps to the game as followers, & adds Tempered Fate as a new utility spell.
Pls give me back my favorite champ, trying to play him nowadays is absolutely miserable.
I feel like im in history class learning about each era of runeterra lol
Azirellia scarred me so bad I can't even play regular League of Legends without getting war flashbacks everytime one of those champs is in my match.
Riot have always weirdly managed to make games that are overall fun, but with INCREDIBLY frustrating bits, either from being broken, or just not fun to play against.
Only deck on here I really care for is mono shurima, that deck was so cool
Love this concept. Feels like a trial of my tryhard tho.
I think you forgot the Sion Draven Deck. it's a meta deck back in the day but a really good meta deck.
I remember how much LoR made me fall in love with its gameplay. I really was getting into it, especially when Taliyah released. However, I also remember the fact that the Blade Dance meta single-handedly made me never to return to the game. Absolute garbage, made even pressing the Play button miserable. I like the game itself and I know it's in a better state since, but I think I'd have PTSD and forfeit immediately when seeing an Irelia and/or Azir again xD
i love this kind on content.
I remember when swimstrim make that ascended deck it was legit turn 7 win with legit no counterplay it was broken
Do Swain TF, Poppy + Bandle spam, Annie + Jhin, MF Sejuani Plunder (from waaaay back shortly after the game's release), MF GP Pirate Aggro, Sion Lost Soul Discard, Viego, Jayce Lux, Akshan Sivir, Shen Fiora, Pantheon Wounded Whiteflame Fated, Lulu Flame Chompers, and OG Burn Aggro next
I'm co flicted about blade dance, cause I get it and I don't disagree, but as a player I gravitate towards mach8be builder decks like it, where you make a machine that goes off whenever a certain condition is met. But also I can't deny how rude the deck was.
Watcher was kinda miserable
FTR meta was ok, it's not like they had ways of protecting those 10 10 units if you happened to have a ruination or vengeances of your own
Lee Sin, Azirelia, Kai'Sa and any Burble meta (Nami soups, TF Fizz stuff, etc) made me want to gouge my eyes out
TriBeam was endurable
Bard + anything meta made me furious
Targon PNZ meta was the best "king of the meta deck" by far, I don't recall nothing feeling too op, the deck was counterable, a lot of other decks were viable into it as well, etc
Rising Tides Championless burn/aggro was pretty miserable, but you suffered through it because the game was fresh, new, and cool
Absolutely loved the tier list!!
I really hated the tribeam deck, because it was around the same time as mono Shurima. So you had like 50% of your games against this deck, and the game was decided on turn 2. If you started, you usually lost to an instant scorched earth or aftershock, or won by them starting and giving your sun disc spellshield. And if they drew 2, you lost anyway.
One other thing that burned me out was when Gnar and the formidable units were released. Bec you were unablento remove their units, they removed all your units with the petricite broadwing and then the 4/3 Gnar dropped down at turn 4 and you could surrender to the value he provided
And back then, when expeditions existed the most frustrating thing was deep, because you started with like 25 cards in your deck and turned it on at turn 3-4 and got a 7/7 unit which just won you the game.
Kinda surprised Poppy isn't up here, she had 50 decks and 49 of them were aggro and instalose if they dropped Poppy on curve. Bandlecity in general seemed to have decks throughout its expansions that had one degenerate deck that dominated (or several) and due to Riot's patch design philosophy at the time we had to deal with it for as long as the Blade Dance trifecta.
Most anticipated video ever i absolutely loved it
I will not give up,you must play more aatrox decks.
Every Bard deck Is super fun
Me seeing Azir/Xerath in the Fun category and Irelia in the Kill Me tier: "These are the same level of cancer."
Old corina control needs a spot on here.
There is a special place in hell for people who still play Azirelia in Casual Eternal.
I play since beta and I enjoy the nostalgia
great concept for a vid deff do more
More tier list videos
I absolutely love this video!
I like the concept.
I used to play game but then they started making uncouterable cards unless you are playing specific faction. Then I deleted game. I like playing fun decks but if game is unbalanced then all play same decks and game gets borring.
i loved this tier list!
Do one for the Standard Meta right now please
I loved this video
please bring more this like this
crazy to see the community divided over seraphine for so long. like idk whats worse hating on a cartoon character so hard or defending it. now talking about the *card* i understand but many talk about it like its a literal person? dont get me wrong i dont like the mechanics she introduced much either but im not going on a giant hooplaw on the internet lmao. i guess it just goes to show how effective riots design/advertizing is
And now we can add Siren Song Xolaani to MISERABLR to play tier.
Lee sin deck, ahri kennen and tribeam is my fav :> i wish i can play kennen ahri again :'
I remember that when they announced rotation I was kind of disappointed but looking back its better to leave TF and Ezreal go, they always were the face of the meta in one way or another.
How to access chat in your discord server :
make another one with the deck you wanted to include but couldnt :peepoGlad:
Did you forget Poppy😢 the champion doesn't the level 2 the 1 was too powerful ??? she got 2 nerfs on patches week and hotfix just in one week
Already waiting for the 2nd video
my boy veigar got forgotten man....
i will pay you for a champion tier list
When Azir Irelia was a thing i left Lor just bc of that
I hated Blade dance so much. It's the pinnacle of probably is fun/easy to play but feels TERRIBLE to play against. You really felt like you were facing down a machine gun firing squad each turn.
The Watcher is the most overnerfed card of all time, I have never actually seen it ever again since its nerf, it is not only almost impossible to play, it doesn't even win you the game. They should have nerfed Matreon, not Liassandra.
Darkness has been forgotten
