Als ich beim Musical war und er den Them Song von Phantom 1 spielte blieb mir der Mund einfach offen stehn. Ich hatte so eine Gänsehaut und Tränen in den Augen. Es war ein so magischer Moment.

That transition from Beautiful -> Beauty Underneath was fantastic. Though I much prefer the original Beauty Underneath, packed more of a punch and showed much more passion between the two characters as they sang their hearts out. I feel like the song continuously deviates more and more away from the rocky beat to cater to the baritone range of the leads. Glad the original version of this song is still around. It will be interesting what they decide to do with this song in the American production.
I've been off the grid with social media and entertainment for a very long time so I am just catching up on Love Never Dies news. I'm really excited that Gardar Thor Cortes is on the US Tour(personally I like him over Ben Lewis Phantom.... but I know it's all personal preference. They're all talented.) I like the changes I've seen in the German production compared to the Australian (my main point of reference given the DVD and no US production until tour commences) In this scene in particular I LOVE the reprisal of the "Sing for me" theme with original POTO music and vibes.... I know ALW wanted this to be able to stand alone however sometimes it seems to starkly so. I think that addition brought such a powerful connection and added flesh and blood to the character. I think hearing Gustave's voice as he heard Christine's is more fitting for that love and relationship to take foundation, and also his realization he's Gustave's Father, than just the original 'Beautiful' we heard in other productions. I enjoyed the update in the ensembles' costumes for this scene. I found it more.... I'm not sure how to really articulate it in general, let alone in a way I don't sound like an a-hole. Let's just leave it at this: troupe of waddling mime pinhead children. Though the fairy on a swing was still there.... swinging away. :p I'm just being silly now and not truly that much of a nitpicker. I realize the US Tour will have its' own interpretation and changes.... and idiosyncrasies.

It sounds like there was stuff from the original Phantom too......I don't speak German but it sounded like he was saying "Sing my Angel of Music!" Could anyone translate the German into English? I am interested to see the changes they made :) As I am very familiar with both the London and Australian version. Also who is playing the Phantom? His voice is incredibly sexy :O Also.....is it me or does this remind anyone of something Tim Burton would do in one of his movies? :)
Gardar Thor Cortes is Phantom here - and he's also the current Phantom in the US tour for Love Never Dies (the musical this song is from). The US tour also has these changes; you should be able to find it online as well.
Andrew Lloyd Weber has also recently released an album called "Unmasked: The Platinum Collection (Deluxe). On it, is this version of Beauty Underneath - but with Ben Lewis (the phantom from the LND movie) as phantom.
