The dog on the Lewis & Clark expedition is named Seaman who was a Newfoundland dog owned by Meriwether Lewis! Seaman was the only animal to complete the entire three-year expedition! Seaman was purchased in 1803 specifically for the expedition while Lewis was in Pittsburgh awaiting completion of the boats for the voyage. He chose a Newfoundland because they do well on boats, are good swimmers, and can assist in water rescues. The views from the top are incredible! The Gateway Arch is so cool! It's the tallest monument in the whole Western Hemisphere at 630 feet, making it 75 feet taller than DC's Washington Monument! It was designed by Eero Saarinen who also worked on Dulles International Airport and the TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport (now the TWA Hotel)!
Hi Jay. Stl is my hometown and hope you and Chris the Girl enjoyed your visit. Sorry the weather was cold. Usually April it warms up better here. Congrats on your numbers climbing almost to 100k. So much deserved
Awesome video of St.Louis and the arch … so cool that you guys cover things in St.Louis (my home city live right across the river in ILLINOIS. Hope you do a video from a Cardinal game in Busch stadium sometime 👍👍
Really enjoying all of the St. Louis videos. Think I heard the Rays are going to be visiting there sometime this season, so perhaps you could do a return visit later this year.
Oh lol, you're tough for braving the pod being as tall as you are! The views of the Mississippi is gorgeous, I've always been fascinated by the big muddy! ❤
Well done! I love Busch Stadium, great place to see a game and meet other real baseball fans! I say that as the Brewers are my home team and St. Louis is one of our arch rivals; pun not intended. You have GOT to catch a game there!
We were in St.Louis..in 2007...due to a surgery for cancer...and went to the arch! We didn't go up( im with Chris lol)...so...Thankyou so much for filming that so that we can see what we missed lol. Very cool! We did do the Mississippi River Queen on the river.... We did go to Union Station....we don't remember the aquarium....they definitely didn't have the zip lines back then lol. I DO remember a train display...and since it was Christmas time....at the time...every train portal had Christmas trees...... It's been really long time lol....a lot has changed there. Thankyou for sharing! Although the reason for us being there at the time wasn't the best reason...we still have great memories...thankyou for more.....appreciate you and Chris so much!❤
More info on the Arch's awesome elevator tram: Richard Bowser developed with his father elevator equipment that could travel horizontally, diagonally, and normal vertical. He visited an elevator company in Moline, Illinois to see a friend when by chance, the company got a call from architect Eero Saarinen that they were looking for a group to take on the big project. Bowser made a return call. When Eero called back, he gave Bowser two weeks to design and present in front of the team. He knew a normal system of course wouldn't do, so for the Arch he combined elevator and Ferris wheel elements to create a unique system where a tram of eight elevator pods that by rotating, allows the visitors inside to remain leveled the entire way.
Ha, you said Lois & Clark looking at that statue. Until yesterday's video I may have never got the simple wordplay that is Lois & Clark, Lewis & Clark. Surely intentional. One duo explored the west, the other explored the world of superhero romance. I used to think the arch was just a statue. The 1st time I saw a window up there I was perplexed. Wild elevator system.
Always wanted to go up in the arch but this is about as close to going as I will probably get. So, Thanks TJ and Cris for bringing us along on the adventure. Enjoyed as usual.
Looks like a nice hotel. I spent the night at my Aunt's sister's historic home and took that ride up in the 80's. A fantastic museum, thank you for showcasing it.
Clark Griswold: "That's the St. Louis Arch The gateway to the West. It's over 600 ft. tall and there's an elevator all the way to the top" That's 60 stories to you and me.😂
I went to the top or the arch years ago. I’m claustrophobic and the pod was full which made it worse. It helped that the glass was there and I could see that there was a way out if necessary. Loved it at the top but then had to go back down in the pod. I would never do it again. We ate at a nearby revolving restaurant. It was a buffet. The buffet didn’t revolve but the area with the tables revolved. It was hard to find my table each time after going to the buffet. Overall, a nerve-racking day.
I love Drury hotels! What a fun day in Saint Louis! So much to do. I loved living there for all the fun stuff, and great restaurants, too! I never went to the top of the arch, I'm much too claustrophobic! (There's also a park across the river where there's a huge platform to get a great photo/ view of the city and the arch!) Great video, thanks!
Whenever you go back to Saint Louis, check out the info about Vincent Price. His family owned a candy business there. Also, the real story of the exorcist happened in Saint Louis.. just some spooky info..☺️ That Drury at Union station is very nice. Wonderful Italian restaurant in the basement!
Really enjoyed this video..I've always wondered how people got to the top of the arch but never knew... Thanks for solving that mystery. Was an informative, interesting, fun video.. Thank you for sharing!😊
Yay! First time. Our family is doing a first too Today Channel Islands tour. We have never seen a whale in the wild before! California is a different world. High cliffs!!! Headed into Hollywood tomm - another first 😊

I havent watched this video yet, you can't fool me, you went up in the arch! 😂❤ Chris, my daughter lives there. Been to the arch many times. I REFUSE to go up!don't know if you know, a few years ago they remodeled the whole park.
Remember Mork and Mindy... first time and last I went up in the arch reminded me of Mirkwood he came in on in the show😆 we also got stuck there because the tornado sirens went off and could not run the elevators... I will never go up there again....
You could come back to St Louis for Rays at Cardinals at Bush Stadium you and Cris the girls can stay at the same hotel you can invite Adam the Woo to join you

The building that is across from the hotel is the old courthouse. It has a lot of history.
Great video!!!

Very cool. My wife and I wanted to come this weekend also. But things happen and we couldn't make it for the show this year.

You guys were in the same hotel, same convention and almost the same time at the arch as Jacob the Carpetbagger and you didn’t run into each other ? Hope you guys had fun.
What a shame that's not used as a train station anymore. Such a beautiful building compared to what they have now.
I wish we could still take a train, anywhere
Be careful with titles like this Jay some people might take it out of context
If they do, then they don’t know me and I’m ok with that
When the arch was built no one died during the construction.
That’s good
great video ty
