Holy shit! Just the last two days, I've been struggling with how to make my Metahumn texture realistic. All of a sudden, I see it. You guys are just brilliant💛
Tips & Updates: (Based on our findings and your questions) 1. BODY TEXTURE: If you want to also TEXTURE the BODY simultaneously, you can! We already showed you the UDIM naming system and how the body textures get the suffix .1002 .... all you have to do is export the body as an FBX alongside the face mesh. In blender connect the body to the head mesh using CTRL+J and also perform the NON-MANIFOLD process that we did for the head but this time with the body as well. It should be fairly simple since the body doesnt have the extra color and normal maps. If you have questions let us know
Just got to say that Part 1 (Create), Part 2 (Animate) and the first part of Part 3 (Customize) of your Metahuman Tutorial Series are in my opinion the Absolutely Best Metahuman Tutorials available anywhere in the world today, simply because I have actually very successfully completed them, now I have worked through a number of other Metahuman Tutorials available and although these are good, they no way cover the breath and width of this subject matter that your tutorials cover, and are massively informative and relatively easy to follow, so thank you very much indeed for producing such Fantastically High Quality and Different Video Tutorials...Now there's always a "BUT" so here goes, you two are also obviously very very skilled at "Substance Painter" it shows in the video, now I know this is not a video about teaching people how to use "Substance Painter" and yes I have used it in the past... BUT why have you just torn through the "substance Painter" part at 100 miles per hour, it is very much a composite part of this whole tutorial, any one who is completely new to "Metahumans" would I believe manage to successfully get through the "Metahuman" part, But I do also believe they would be absolutely "LOST" working their way through the "Substance Painter" part, which is an absolute shame, all that time you have spent creating this near-on Perfect Tutorial, is let down by a small part of it. I myself are very much struggling with this part as well, but I'm not going to give up on these wonderful tutorials, I'm just going to have to get a Grip on "Substance Painter" a bit more.
hey quick question, i just wonder since its a texture paint can we do it using blender wrap painting technique? what's special about Substance painter?
This is GREAT! I expanded upon this and also edited the metahuman shader to add a "Roughness overlay" Texture and used the Substance roughness mat with a blur mask to bring extra life to the paint. :)
Oh thats a fantastic idea!!! What does your metahuman look like nowwww we are curious!! Mind showing me in discord? (We have a community sharing channel) discord.gg/fUTyYnvceB

That fading away of the painted makeup texture due to 3 layers of albedo and normal map just gave me an idea of how to do a transition from a normal looking face to a scary horror face for jumpscares :)
@@badxstudio I’ve been searching for a way to do this kind of face transition for horror stuff but there are no videos covering it, but I accidentally found it here haha. I’m working on a short horror film and I’m gonna be trying this method out pretty soon! Btw I would appreciate it if you guys could make a tutorial about this since no one else has done it yet :)

Did you catch the thing with the dresses? MetaTailor? I'd love to see a video from you on how to attach MetaHuman costumes with MetaTailor. bdw the video is amazing 😊
Great Video!!!! I am having an issue exporting the normal map from substance painter, for some reason the sculpts that I added in blender show up in substance painter but don't export on the normals map, do you have any idea why this may be? I don't have the option in antialiasing for supersampling 4x4, just 4x 16x and 64x, i have tried on all three and no change.
For anyone with this issue, I have worked out where I was going wrong. I imported the new high poly mesh into substance painter rather than the original. I hope this makes sence.
I really love the tutorial so much. You guys are damn awesome. But I was searching for the ''save button'' for my future use. Is it possible to provide the ''save button'' for this lesson?
First of all thank you so much for your comment and watching our video :) To be honest, we have gotten this feedback (to quit the F word at the end) a few times before (even our dad asked for it haha). But, we didn't want to change it because it came out naturally and it was just representing our characters. But, after reading your comment about your 12 years old, we had a quick chat between us and decided to drop it :) I have edited the existing video and removed the F word section ( it will take a few hours to get updated) and we are not gonna say it in the upcoming videos. Our main goal for our channel is to educate, entertain, and raise awareness. If getting rid of certain aspects helps more people learn, we'd be more than happy to do it.
Hello guys Thanks for your video, But I have a question, where is the Metalness in your eyes makeup into Unreal, I see that you use inside Substance Painter but, I don´t see any more when you export textures, again thank you for your content
This was excellent. Thank you. I've been struggling to add a metallic material to the metahumans facial skin and was hella confused by the parent face materials event graph. Do you guys know how to add metallic, roughness map please? Great work. Subscribed.
This tutorial is great! Only issue I'm running into is when I rename my images to bring into Substance, I'm adding .1002 (because I'm working with a body texture) The image is still coming in assigned to 1001. Is there another way to force this operation? Thanks, keep it up!
I want to know if it is a material with reflection type, how to add it, because when I do it in the first way, the LOD is missing. I add it directly in the material node. There will be explanations about materials and material instances. Tutorial? (I want to retain materials similar to metal reflections but at the same time retain LOD) I am a CG beginner and I am very grateful for your free videos! I’m also looking forward to your answers!
Is it possible to use that modified mesh as the MH mesh? My face has some details that Metahuman just cant do, no matter how I try it... e.g. dimple in the cheek and not-asian-eye, bigger and not so well outlined. I tried to use it directly on Unreal, but livelink animation stops to work :(
Yes so whats crazy about MH is that you can do freaking Aliens, Zombies and even one-eyed monsters hahahah Trust me I've seen those metahumans made before and we were like WHAT??? can you even doo that???? So of course that would mean you have to manually sculpt the mesh in blender (NOT AS A TEXTURE AND NORMAL MAP) and then re-connect the bones back in Unreal and do checks with the rig to make sure it works! So that tutorial is a little more complex than this but we are going to definitely do that for you as well! It will come however after our Egypt project so probably 2-3 weeks from now :)

I'm trying to create a demon with metahumans, but I'm having a problem, I followed your tutorial, but some areas I sculpted had errors, I think it was after using the inflate brush, but I'm not sure , when I open fbx in substance painter, some areas of the mesh are without texture, and I can't paint over them, how can i fix this error please?
Does anyone know how to 3:14 export, import these MetaHumans to Blender? I've exported them, but they don't have materials as explained in the video. The latest video of Darth Maul export-import explanation was also too fast and not detailed enough with the MetaHuman to Blender importing process.

Hi there guys, thank you for putting this up! It was excellent, but if I may offer a bit of feedback, sometimes you go through all the inputs and finish them before you start talking about them, so it is a bit hard to catch up. I find myself either following the steps as shown on the screen and having to ignore the walkthrough, or pay attention to the walkthrough and backtrack in the video to the current step. I understand this is for advanced users, but if you can please take a bit more time transitioning between steps?
Hey brother, what is your computers specifications? Or the best spec to render these meta human I noted you have responded every comment, it would be great if u notice my comment too thanks ❤
Now as for the specs required you see Unreal Engine is designed to allow the masses to create beautiful giant worlds even with lower spec PC! Which is why we have Lumen and Nanite technology! But as for metahumans they can get a little heavier due to their complexity but Epic Games always makes sure to improve their performance. Processor: Six-Core Xeon E5-2643 @ 3.4GHz Memory: 64 GB RAM Internal storage: 256 GB SSD External Storage: 2TB SSD Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER What you see above is the MINIMUM RECOMMENDED specs to use for unreal engine 5. If you ask me I would say spend good money on your GRAPHICS CARD! Make sure to go for 30 series and above as that will always help you with handling your renders! but generally speaking it'd be hard for us to recommend something to you as we don't know your budget
Hey thanks for the tutorial very helpful. Any time I drop my nex textures for the color Main face instead of seeing the colored texture on the sphere I see the sphere GREEN. Whereas I see that the textures went through. Any idea why guys>
@@badxstudio no both the sphere and the human face are green instead of being let’s say blue as per what I did on substance painter. The green sphere embedded the scratch I did for example on my texture but is green instead of being from the Colors I’ve made on substance
Awesome Video! Can you customise the 3d model too and send it back to metahuman creator after that? Is it possible? For exemple, i want to create intense deformations on the arm in zbrush. Can i create my metahuman - Export it to zbrush - sculpt it - and then send it back to metahuman? thanx in advance!
Yes of course you can! Funny you brought it up, we are working on a Metahuman body and face mesh customisation tutorial which should be out within 2 weeks time. We are creating Darth Maul from star wars :D :D :D Stay tuned!
yo guys , nice tut however i'm facing couple of issues , whenever i export the face mesh and import it to SP it seems to have lost all UVs , also am i able to manually wrap my sculpt on the metahuman face mesh using wrap3 or smth for more accurate results ?
Did you figure this out?? So for the UVs make sure you follow TO THE DOT all the things we did prior to bringing it to substance ... they are crucial steps. And for wrap3 we know of a friend who does that so it shud be possible :)
Hey guys, love your work - new subscriber. Any chance in going into custom Metahuman Clothes? Only thing that's holding me back from using them is finding or creating usable custom clothing - like workwear, coveralls etc.
Hey mate! That's a valid concern. Since clothing is a beast of its own, you could say that if we are going to dive into it we are going to need to make sure its easy to digest while still teaching all important aspects of it. You can say it's definitely part of our plan, but we still have a few other MetaHuman tutorial sections coming before getting to clothing, such as customising the mesh and etc!
My g there are ways you can do that but trust me you kind of dont want to! One because epic only technically allows metahumans to be FINAL RENDERED in unreal. But even if you ignore that, they quite literally design metahumans to work flawlessly wiith LUMEN lighting and unreal renderer. IF you take iit to blender you are just adding more hassle to your work and its not gonna even run smooth due to all the bones animatiing in the face!
I 1. If you have questions let us know
Baby metahuman just means big head and small body! Youu can change headsize in METAHUMAN CREATOR, for the body tho we need to alter the mesh outside. You can do a young kid because we can just shrink the body in blender or something. But to do a baby metahuman as the armature might be different might not be possible now!

AMD RYZEN9 5900x
Gigabyte b550 aorus elite ax
Ram 64 DDR4 - 32*2
Nvidia RTX 4090
here is my specs :)
Processor: Six-Core Xeon E5-2643 @ 3.4GHz
Memory: 64 GB RAM
Internal storage: 256 GB SSD
External Storage: 2TB SSD
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
What you see above is the MINIMUM RECOMMENDED specs to use for unreal engine 5.
If you ask me I would say spend good money on your GRAPHICS CARD!
Make sure to go for 30 series and above as that will always help you with handling your renders!
but generally speaking it'd be hard for us to recommend something to you as we don't know your budget
What is the point of this video if you don't even show how to put the model back into UE5?
Its called import
Hey how do I export the meta human into blender and do everything in there without substance painter and back into unreal?
Well you can literally alter the textures in blender too. Just load them up you already have them exported from unreal no?
میشه با متا هیومن زامبی ساخت؟
Areeee dadash! Kheyli ham khoob mishe sakht!
yo guys , nice tut however i'm facing couple of issues , whenever i export the face mesh and import it to SP it seems to have lost all UVs , also am i able to manually wrap my sculpt on the metahuman face mesh using wrap3 or smth for more accurate results ?
Did you figure this out??
So for the UVs make sure you follow TO THE DOT all the things we did prior to bringing it to substance ... they are crucial steps.
And for wrap3 we know of a friend who does that so it shud be possible :)
I wanna work with you guys so much🎉
Damnnnnnnn, very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
You can say it's definitely part of our plan, but we still have a few other MetaHuman tutorial sections coming before getting to clothing, such as customising the mesh and etc!
sir can you tell us , how to export metahuman in blender without losing quality !!!
Thank you for the reply, make more metahumans tutorials. i love this tutorial ❤️🤖🎬
I 1. If you have questions let us know
i want you to discover how to make a baby metahuman. you are genius
Sad that metahuman leaves out the body.
What do you mean sir? it doesnt leave out the body! You can export that too and do customization!
@@badxstudio you have to Frankenstein and kitbash the body or be stuck with 5 sets of clothes and like 3 body types and no breasts.
Plz do the hair part NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
