Old Bay on peanuts is fantastic. I buy a different brand of them than Uncle Buds, but fried and boiled peanuts are one of my favorite things I've discovered since moving to South Carolina!
A tradition at my university in Atlanta Georgia is to put salted, boiled peanuts in a glass bottle of Coke, and sip/nibble during graduation. The sweet and salty is perfect.
I'm from Virginia (in the US) and I've NEVER heard of anyone around here eating the peanut shell. We eat raw peanuts, roasted peanuts, boiled peanuts, peanut soup, peanut pie, whatever... but we take them out of the shell first!!!
These things were all over the truck stops and c-stores last summer but rarely see them now. Eating peanut shells just didn't quite catch on the way Uncle Bud had hoped.
I don't know about deep fried peanuts, but here in the Southern United States, we have boiled peanuts. They either come salted or with Cajun seasoning, they are slow cooked to the point where you can eat some of the shells and the peanuts taste like beans almost
I live in peanut county here in Georgia and I have eaten them in all ways possible and no one eats the hull but the animals for boiled peanuts use green or not dried out for storage add salt ,roasted in or out of the shell has the best smell. The best way for me is white pepper brine and then roasted
I've eaten peanuts shell and all since I was a kid. All the salt is in the shell so I started sucking on them before I deshelled them. I eventually just started eating the whole thing. The shell has great fiber.
@thetrychannel you absolutely CAN eat peanut shells. Its probably the best part of a peanut. They must be the salted shells of course but you absolutely can and should eat them as they are good for you, just more fiber to your diet. Ive done it for 40 years. Love the salted shells.
Once you get used to it, it's not bad. I eat the shells on normal roasted peanuts, too, if I'm not in the mood for cracking em or if I don't have something to discard shells in nearby. It's only unpleasant for the first few, then you get used to it.

She would throw them at us, which sounds crazy but made the class fun for some reason. She would eat the shells and if we agreed to eat the shells we would get 2 vs 1 as the reward.
