Ciboney people believe to have been in these islands as early as 3000 BC, we don’t know much about them, Then the piece loving Taínos came to the island about 1000 BC and Caribs invaded them about 800 AD.
Christopher Columbus, saw and named the islands on his second voyage. Saint Kitts San Jorge (Saint George) and Nevis San Martin (sighted on Saint Martin's Day). Spanish didn’t start the settlement, The British establish their first Caribbean colony on St Kitts in 1623, French came into the Island guns blazing and captured part of the island in 1625.
Caribs were willing to share the island with English in the beginning but as the European population increased and started to exploit the island's natural resources, the native Caribs started a fight, so the Europeans decided to resolve issue by killing over 2000 Caribs in the place now known as Bloody Point
In 1627, the English & French split the island, English controlled the middle and the French controlled the ends
1628 - The British establish a colony on Nevis.
European population continue to increase. Plantation were developed and slaves were brought into work.
1629 Spain raided the is islands and destroyed the English and French colonies, after some wheeling and dealing Spanish recognized British claim of the island.

I am glad you find this video useful, there are some great places in Caribbean, If you like St. Kitts & Nevis you may also like St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Barbados.
@@GeographyNuts Supposedly Barbados has the advantage of being flat and never exposed to hurricanes
You are right St. Kitts & Nevis ia a great country

Correction.... Robert Bradshaw was the Premier the Associated State before the country gained Independence, and Dr Kennedy Simmonds became the First Prime Minister of the Federation after we attained independence.
It would be so nice if you can hold the camera the correct way so your viewers like me can enjoy the video much better
Thank you so much.
O Land of Beauty........
It really is. Thanks for watching
A nice well rounded information about this lovely gem in the Eastern Caribbean however the music is tacky it must go. You need a nice modern beat that goes well with the beautiful tour and history of the nation.
Thank you so much, appreciate comment about the music. I will try and find better beat for future videos. I really appreciate your input.
The Coat-of-Arms is incorrect - in the placement of the motto. 'Country' is on the left of the banner and 'above self' is on the right - there is much more detail and variety in the colours too
Wasn't Anguilla once part of St. Kitts and Nevis? How is the infrastructure, whether sewer system, water and electricity supply??
Yes Anguilla was. They are self sufficient in producing electricity but most come from diesel generators. They are water scarce, much of the fresh water comes from rain. According to latest UN report municipal sewage is generally stored in septic tanks. Hope this helps
@@GeographyNuts Fascinating....such a small political entity that yet has do much appeal. I think I would pick St Kitts to visit first in the Caribbean as long as it's easy to walk around without alot of hilly streets and sidewalks.
This is a fantastic Island, I want to go there and see those green monkeys before this place get crowded. I hope I can rent a car and drive along those two islands on the rink road.
Isn't there a risk of a CBI passport because of the risk of dangerous hurricanes that could threaten the investment in the infrastructure??
I am not an expert on this. There is definitely a risk but major hurricane that destroy the all the property is rare, Building fallow strict standard to minimize the impact. Most people invest money to get passport, not necessary to make money.
@@GeographyNuts Yes, that makes sense, but if you do invest in property I guess that risk exists. On the other hand is there always a risk that the USA or EU will do something to ruin the legitimacy of the CBI passports?
However, why is the description being given by a non national whose first language is definitely not English?
No mention of Alexander Hamilton?
Thank you for watching. Great question. I don't usually mention famous people from country in the video. Alexander Hamilton is a significant person in American history but not in St. Kitts and Nevis, I believe he left St. Croix when he was 8 and never went back.
Citizens and residents of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis please VOTE for the People's Labour Party - PLP. Dr. the Hon. Citizens and residents of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis kindly vote to keep candidates of the: Concerned Citizens' Movement which is abbreviated as CCM;
People's Action Movement which is abbreviated as PAM;
St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party which is abbreviated as SKNLP

The local dialect is not Pitcairn
Nevis also has the right to leave and setup an independent nation.
Thanks for the information. I have read some news article that some people in Nevis wants to be independent. I am not sure how much they wants to separate.
The majority of nevision want to stay in the federation..they already voted..
