The criminals constantly looking at the darkness fearing that Batman will emerge will forever be one of the most chilling scenes in superhero medium.
FR
Wasnt it amazing
That was epic.
My favorite sequence from the film.
He's like the Boogeyman for gangsters, thugs and criminals
I love how Batman is basically the Boogeyman in this movie. Everyone fears him, criminals think of him as a haunting presence. He can't be everywhere, but he *could* be anywhere.
The last sentence nailed it
Yes it really hit home at the end too when
SPOILER
The Riddler goon was so certain Batman was more than human he put the shotgun to his head just to be sure.
Batman in this movie is essentially Michael Myers to criminals
Baba Yaga, Michael Myers, John Wick!

I totally agree!! One of my first thoughts when Gotham is shown I started to think back to estetique in Tim Burtons Batman 1989. Gotham has its own soul, you can not say oh this looks like New York or Toronto (where many movies are shot/supposed to take place).

and we absolutely love your channel!
The build up for suspense was incredible!
They're out of a horror movie. The drums and cymbals change the tempo, and the strings are like the inner screams that only the criminals can hear. Such a brilliant way of "introducing" Batman without actually showing him.
The bells in background sound and Batman who appears like a ghost in front of the bandits. Absolute Masterpiece.👌

The best Batman theme. It starts like the music of a horror film, as Batman represents vengeance and anger. the song depicts the main character like he's a menace, an unstopable force. By the end of the film, his theme turns to be more heroic, as the Batman starts representing hope and justice, and becomes a true hero.
I’d just like to say, the entire opening sequence gave me small tears of joy. This is the best portrayal of Batman ever put to screen. I love the way he’s portrayed as this unstoppable, supernatural force to these everyday thugs. Chefs kiss 👌
You were not alone.
THIS is the song that made The Batman stand out. The violins make this absolutely impeccable.
I love the bells
Those trombone 🎺
The violins descending over and over at 2:46 expertly represents the fear Batman holds over criminals
I actually felt the criminals fear when he was staring into the shadows.
Starting at 1:42, I can feel the Batman movie soundtrack has such an Arkham Knight game vibe. I love it!
Yeah, that brass really sounds like Arkham Knight's theme. I see the Arkham influence all over this movie, even the premise is like Arkham Origins of a young, unrefined Year Two Batman.
You read my mind
@@themadtitan7603 yeah pretty much, except Jim doesn’t go after him and lets him do his own thing
@@jokerknight1247 Yeah, in this movie their past the stage of conflict in their relationship while Origins showed he Gordon came to respect him which all probably happened during this Batman's Year One.
@@themadtitan7603 but I really think Gordon is probably on the bats side in this movie
The whole 'spiralling' in the background at 2:45 so perfectly conveys the fear and panic that the criminals feel when they see the signal in the sky.
It’d a nod to the music spiraling of the Bat symbol at the start of the 60s theme song
"The signal, isn't just a calling. It's a warning."
"A second year of nights has turned me into a nocturnal animal."
I really love how Michael Giacchino uses a recurring two-note patten to build the tension. Might be an extremely simple motif, but it captures the horror aspect of Batman perfectly.
Some people hate it for some reason but then will turn around and tell you Interstellar has the best music when it’s mainly also like 2 notes
The Dark Knight's main motif was also two notes lol.
At first I really hated it. I listened to the theme before I saw the movie because I initially wasn’t sure if I was going to see it. And I initially thought it was really lame just revolving around 2 notes, but after seeing the movie it has really grown on me. It represents an unstoppable force. Those 2 notes repeating with the horror music strings perfectly captures the inevitability that is Batman. He will get you eventually.
If you listen closely those 2 notes are actually samples from Chopin's funeral march, listed closely
they say this song had notes literally ripped from the imperial march theme from star wars
2:45 Oof that is when Batman introduced in the movie and that scene is so simple yet so amazing that I had goosebumps!

Not aquaman. Awful score
Elfman's soundtrack for Justice League was trash
The most Batman scene that's ever Batmanned.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
We haven't seen Batman portrayed as a terrible thought lurking in the shadows since Batman Begins and even that didn't nail it quite as well as this movie did
There is that short part at the beginning of the Dark Knight where criminals are doing drug deals and cowering out of them because of the bat signal in the sky.
The Batman Monologue is a masterpiece
Saw the movie for a second time last night and I must say this scene will always remain one of the best introductions to any character in any genre. The build-up, the monologue, the mise-en-scène, the direction, the cinematography and of course, THAT music... Glorious!
Beautifully stated... theres a small moment where someone in a bunny mask is dancing in slow motion whilst nearly in sync with the creeping score in the beginning of this track. I thought it was so subtly unnerving. Then when he says how the nights have turned him into a nocturnal animal, his eyes dilate in the close up, and it's why he wears sunglasses a lot in the day. So many moments like this.... what a masterpiece of an opening.
*"It's not just a call, it's a warning."* Peak cinema.
"THEY THINK I'M HIDING IN THE SHADOWS BUT I AM THE SHADOWS"= Super Chills!
For years the Batman comics and movies always talk about how Batman is the boogyman to criminals and this scene finally illustrated it. Gave me chills and made me feel the second hand fear.

2:25 stuck out heavily to me, seeing Battinson putting on the makeup, the red background, the camera focuses and pans towards the mask. It felt so inspiring as if I wanted to just suit up and go fight crime. This movie is special and unique in its own right. Truly belongs at the top with TDK, you can tell how much care and effort was put into this movie. And above all else, it was a masterful depiction of the BATMAN.
One of the best opening montages I’ve seen honestly. Each slow zoom of the criminals looking into the dark alley was fkn brilliant

*I love in the end Batman beeing the light that guides the people. More than fear or revenge, but a symbol of hope.*
The introduction is a masterpiece. The music fits perfectly with the atmosphere
Calling it the movie starts with a pov shot of an unconscious person waking up to the face of the Riddler.
I always thought the opening title logos would play as we hear the sound of tape in the background before the movie starts with the first shot revealing it was Riddler who was taping up the Mayor.
No its riddler watching the mayor and his kid through binoculars
I heard that it’s starts from someone’s point of view but we don’t know who it is.
@@UltimateLegoFan324 This is true.
The movie will be seen through Batman's point of view so i'm guessing the opening sequence will involve Bruce in a monologs while he stalks the city as Batman.

I’m starting The Batman for Best Original Score campaign NOW. Giacchino does it again.

As soon as this sequence ended I knew this movie was going to be an all-time classic. Matt Reeves made sure to show right off the bat how terrified the criminals of Gotham are of just the existence of Batman in this world, and this sequence has such an impact on the intimidation factor the rest of the movie. You never know if Batman is lurking in the shadows or not.
The Batman is easily Micheal Giacchino's best score
The intro was pure masterpiece. I was on edge waiting to see the dark knight pop out in the shadow. The way he he just comes in the light of the shadows is so bone chilling!! What a movie!!

"I am the shadow."
When he said that, I literally realize that shadows are a big advantage for batman, I mean I think we all know, but showing it in this way made it somewhat official
The way they showcased the scene… goddamit they nailed it. Perfect opening scene.
The intro to this movie was worth price of admission alone. I’ve never seen one scene capture what Batman represents to criminals until now
