For me, as a non-natve english speaker, it is sometimes difficult to understand some tutorials, due to incomprehensible pronunciation or heavy dialect. Not so with you.I understand every word. Thanks for that! And your videos are very informative!
5:53 This extension is GREAT!!! Thank you very much, I wish I had seen your video sooner, as I was just coding a robot in a simulator which restricted the whole program to a file, so navigating the code was a big hassle, it ended up getting over 900 lines long.
13:04 as someone who has to keep taking red hat certifications, having a vim like experience is super helpful so i dont just forget the basics when i start studying for another one.
The first theme I switched to was Cobalt 2. It was good initially, but now I prefer Seti Monokai. I also use Cascadia Code for the font. Some other quality of life extensions I use are Bracket Pair Colorizer, to make finding paired brackets easier, and vscode-icons, which makes it easier for me to locate things in the file explorer.
If I could give an advice to code faster, it would be: "Install Vim extention". Vim shortcuts are just insane when you are actually able to use them. (And I don't even claim to master them)
Thank you for reference. Maybe you can try "Mayukai Theme" for VS Code, and Material Icon Theme. This is best mixed theme for me, and maybe for you too.
OMG I'm gonna install the advanced new file extension right now 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 PD: JetBrains Mono is my favorite font for coding, but I think I'll give Fira Code a try 😅
@@JamesQQuick Not sure, it's just after watching your exciting video on how to integrate & use Thunder Client in VS Code, I thought this one's gonna be equally exciting.
I tend to stick to a pretty basic VSCode config with just a few (workflow enhancing) extensions and the default dark colour theme. Saying that, I have been down the .vimrc rabbit hole in the past so stay away from over-optimising my editor config where possible now. It is damn good fun though.
Should you bother about font ligatures? Probably not. Coding in PowerShell with VSCode requires clarity on similar chars: [1l`'oO0]. So 'one', el, backtick, apostrophe, o, cap O, zero. Clearly differentiating between these is a better test of a coding font IMO. Themes are so varied and so personal, I think it's almost pointless to recommend one. There's a lot to keybindings, but a familar keymap extension is a good start. I didn't quite understand the attraction of your new file creation extension & key binding - don't you simply begin a new file (Ctrl + N) and then immediately save it (Ctrl + S) all from the keyboard anyway (ha, I must be missing something)
I personally love them. Sometimes it’s a bit confusing especially for developers that have never seen them before. I’d say that’s the potential downside
Can you customize the hover intellisense? cause its so hard to understand sometimes like what can be used inside the () of a method when reading intellisence

I have always really liked the Obsidian theme since I found it in Notepad++. In Visual Studio the Son of Obsidian is kind of a clone of the Obsidian theme that I like. So far VS Code doesn't have a great Obsidian/SonOfObsidian theme. There are some available but they are kind of half-cocked. They don't have a lot of detailed coloring and often errors or other things like code highlighting make it impossible to read the code. Somebody please make a really great Obsidian/SonOfObsidian theme!
I can't find a solution to this since two years ago now (not that I've devoutly been seeking all that time). Perhaps you can help me, James. My VSC editor started (out of no-where it seems as I'm unaware of root cause, it happened from one day to next) displaying the squiggly lines underneath not only code, but comments (proper comments) for any code I was programming in (JS, Python, CSS, HTML, etc). I personally create comment sections in my files hundreds of lines down below my code by just typing the comment symbols (, /**/, etc), and when this issue started these comment symbols made it all the way up to my code (deleting the hundreds of lines down where I had typed them). This was never the case before this started happening two years ago now, I've just been using my editor like this since. Also, a particular fun extension I like, Power Mode doesn't work at all after the issue with the editor I'm talking about started. Any idea what this is about? Thank you! =).
For the cursor animation go to settings and search cursor then set it to expand!
Thanks a lot
