Snooker is hypnotic, I find myself going into a trance when watching a snooker game. Its also a very hard game to play well, so when you see someone playing snooker to a high standard and making it look easy you are in awe of them.
Clive Everton the voice of snooker along with other greats ted Lowe and jack no one will ever be as good as these guys. This guy had a great unique voice bbc snooker isn't the same without him, Dennis has a decent voice and also good knowledge.
I always thought he was an excellent commentator and he makes a very good point in the interview in that nowadays the only qualification you need to be a commentator is to have been world champion which does not necessarily mean you will be good at it - commentary and playing are different things and some of the modern commentators never know when to keep quiet at the right time - they think the viewers are stupid and they love the sound of their own voices
Ted Lowe was allowed to continue for so long, even when clearly past it and sometimes the worse for wear, but Clive Everton was sacked from the BBC for being too old - or "old-fashioned" - which means he was simply too literate and articulate. Can't have that anymore can we? The BBC's firing Everton but still employing a boorish buffoon like John Virgo is an injustice.
one very very clever man !! and a real gent !!! no fools could entertain him !!! i love him.. and what a voice for the game !!! the syd waddel of snooker !! fact !!! i lliked ted lowe but he made loads of mistakes !!whispering ted !!
They need commentators who inject passion and enthusiasm into the game rather than many jobsworth ex snooker players. That's what made f1 interesting with Murray Walker. For all of Stephen Hendrys talent (and my favourite player with Ronnie) he isn't a commentator. Dennis Taylor is good when the match gets close or exciting and you can feel that in the voice, as is Virgo, but a lot of it is same old same old talking about positional shots all the time that regular viewers can get bored of. They know that, what they want is a bit more insight. We need commentators like Mike Hallet who talk about a lot of things by the way who similarly get excited when it gets tight and also inject some knowledge of the shots etc. All this 'where's the cue ball going' is trite and downplaying the sport. I think the BBC and others should tender it out to some pro journalists and passionistas to get snooker really going for spectators. The punditry with O'Sullivan and Jimmy white and Neil foulds on Eurosport is very good.
I've always loved Clive as a commentator - the best - but I found the book a bit disappointing. Too much on the politics and not enough about the cueball wizards. I hope he does another one.
Joe Davis straight into the final ov world championship its so funny to listen to these old boys saying how many times he won the world championship wot a joke please please stop talking abt this its boring and not a true fact ov tournament play sorry.
Commentating legend!!
Miss his unique knowledge immensely, God bless you Mr Everton.
the greatest snooker commentator of all and a wonderful ambassador for the game, rest in peace Clive
RIP Clive, great commentator, will be missed by all snooker fans
a truly superb commentator
fantastic voice
got great insight into the game
The most intelligent voice the game of snooker has seen.
Along with Jack Karnehm - by far the two best commentators.
Jack had a lovely warm voice but him and Clive didn't get on sadly, for political snooker reasons I am led to believe.

Miss Clive Everton.....top commentator with a voice made for the game.
*Mr
The best commentator with great voice and positive opinion
Actually, as a newbie to the game, this is really informative. Thanks, Clive.
Thanks, a real expert on snooker
Legend.
Voice is easy to listen to. Like David Attenborough.
That's what Neil Robertson used to think, that it WAS David Attenborough commentating when it was actually Clive!
@@countbasi4680 Thanks, that gave me a laugh.

his voice is gone. Thats the main reason.
Clive should be knighted for his service to snooker. The bbc treated him disgracefully and I only watch on Eurosport or ITV now.

Ray Reardon won 6 world titles and whitewashed Steve Davis three times. The host fails to mention him
