I have been wearing barefoot shoes for 11+ years now, since I was a child and have always been a really good runner. I have also never had any foot or ankle injuries including sprains. I genuinely believe that the shoes are amazing.
@@Elpe_pe01I transitioned to barefoot recently, can already feel my calluses getting thicker not just the foot muscles, because things that previously hurt me on barefoot, don't even hurt now (except lego's ofcourse). So yeah i think our feet are extremely adaptable.

Been wearing barefoot shoes for one year now and it really improved my quality of life. My calves are a lot stronger, my feet and the muslces in my feet feel stronger, the tiny bunions (taylor bunions) I had are now slowly retracting. If you are curious about it, go for it.

Barefoot shoes a massive win for human health and I'm happy to see some pushback against the long trend of constricting athletic shoes. My only hope is that the big sports shoe brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, Under Armour, Sketchers, etc., will notice this new concern for health and make competitively priced barefoot shoes. Unfortunately, right now it seems there's very few barefoot brands and they are all charging a premium price
Iv been in barefoot shoes for about 18 months now It’s changed my life used to get pains in my ankles knees and hips not to mention my feet felt fcuked all the time I’d highly recommended making the transition… take it easy
So! I just had foot surgery for my right foot because of Hallux Valgus (The wrong bone growth of the big toe, inwards) - They had to saw into 2 bones, put plates and screws in there, and in a few weeks I will have to go in again for metal removal. Believe me. I have been wearing Barefoot shoes for the last six months, to prevent having to go in for my left one too. And it works. It works so well.
I grabbed a pair off Amazon (Whitin) back in Oct 2022 and my foot pain is 95% gone, and no more knee pain, and the sciatic pain is gone too. It took about 2-4 weeks to get past the shoe pain, but I am a lot better for switching. That restless desperate feeling I was having from the sciatic pain was bad, it got to the point that I just learned to ignore it cause nothing worked. This week I stopped wearing house shoes to get my right foot stronger, its only been 2 days and I can feel the difference.
I just started wearing Vibrim 5 Fingers barefoot shoes and I love them. I feel my foot is using different parts individually as opposed to the whole foot being almost attached to a coushin and sole.
I've been wearing Vibram 5 fingers since about 2010. The best description i can give them is "it's like being barefoot, but rocks don't hurt". I feel like they make me more sure-footed due to the detailed feeling you get from being barefoot and the complete articulation of my toes. I'm a die hard fan of these shoes and will likely wear them for life.
So basically scientists have determined our natural feet were “engineered” along with us being one of very few animals that can sweat. How do the correlate? Simple. I had a broken ankle 10 years ago that required surgery and I was told to get support on my feet. I got the big giant Nike Airmax, and almost refractured the ankle. Every time I decided to go jogging. One day, I decided to strap on some barefoot shoes in the store, and I didn’t know what they were. Immediately IMMEDIATELY I fell in love with the field and I didn’t know why or what they were but I knew it felt amazing. I went on to become a window cleaner nibble on my feet and before long I ended up doing lots and lots of trail running barefoot, and I’ve noticed that I cannot wear normal shoes now because my back hurts and my toes hurt. I need a wide toe box and I don’t have a wide toe box. I have a normal toolbox. Everyone else has a narrow toolbox because of the shoes they wore when they were growing up.
Xero shoes are awesome! I am a 8th grade runner, and top in my state! I use Xero for some of my workouts, because I have to run with shoes, but most of the time I train barefoot (40-50miles a week.)

Switched about a month ago. I was having severe issues with my pinkie toe being smashed in and being glowing red every evening (actually had an operation to remove a bone spur, which eliminated the pain at one point, but just underlined the fact that the whole toe was actually suffering). That's been basically solved (though there's some turning of the toe from years of wearing shoes too small in the toes - hoping that gradually goes away). I was suffering major plantar fasciitis when I started. That's maybe 85% gone, but still not perfect. The relief in the toes makes it worth it for me.
Unfortunately I work in a warehouse so composite/steel toe working shoes are required. That said I use my Vibrams (barefoot shoes) while working out and it really helps with the balance.
The barefoot runner, Abebe Bikila, chose to run barefoot, as he couldn’t find a comfortable pair of shoes in London when he was called to race as a replacement for someone else last minute. He actually ran an even better time four years later *with* shoes, even though he had just had his appendix out days earlier. Sadly, he had a car accident and was paralyzed in his late 30s and died at 41 from a hemorrhage related to the accident. He did earn medals in the predecessor to the Paralympics during those last few years, which is so SO impressive considering the games were all obviously different events since he couldn’t run. Hell of a guy.
Except when we were primarily barefoot people, we weren’t standing/walking/running on concrete, more often than not the ground would have some give. So the ground deforms itself and supports the arches as much as you need. Concrete doesn’t deform.
I had a toe hyperextension a year or two ago I watched a video about how to get rid of the pain. I bought them and within two weeks the injury I had for six weeks disappeared. I’ve been wearing them since.
