Watching Kibler refusing to hit the bombs is so tilting, even though I haven't played HS for over a year now.
@@jeffjefferson7237 in the last instance though, if he killed the bomb then his opponent would have had lethal on board thanks to the 2 bomb damage
when you try to play a cool even bomb deck but it doesn't matter how innovative you are because you can just play rexxar and discover an answer every turn
That's generally how it goes when you play a weird deck - you get to use fun synergies but in the end you usually need to get carried by the handful of "too good not to include" cards you put in as well.
"Carried"?
Sure in a control match-up Rexxar is good but to discredit an entire deck for a single card that allows you to even stand a chance at winning, that is not the same thing as being carried my good sir.
Imagine if Kibler had played anything other than a class that survives on mass armour gain.
@@ArgentumEmperio it's basically an aggro/token deck with deathrattle deal 2 damage to the enemy's hero with a single late-game card Rexxar when he can't kill his opponent before turn 7-8. Even Jaina DK can't single-handedly carry odd mage the way Rexxar does to this even bomb Hunter deck

Dragon Warrior relies on tempo to actually win.
Unlike Odd Warrior, which tries to run the enemy out of resources until they conceed.
Your argument is very biased, and not relevant to the video.
A singular card should not give someone an opportunity, to turn a game on its head.
Also. Druid relies more on armour than any other class ever did.

I think we can admit the card was pretty fun for awhile there back when Hunter was much worse though.

To be fair, the Hunter did have a really good draw. Double Spellstone to go with his two first Secrets (both of which hit before Turn 6) along with buffs and Fireworks to go with his Bombs almost every time one of them survived. And Rexxar for turn 10 when he was low on cards in hand.
I'd wager that was The 1-in-100s Game for the Hunter.
@@roguebanshee yeah it was a godly draw, but he also really underestimated his opponent. Plus when you see mechs, theres always mech synergies. They arnt strong enough to play by themselves. Especially in hunter when you see bombs
He refused to kill the bombs on a couple of occasions where he just passed with attacks left. He'd already tested for secrets related to attacking minions.. The only reason not to kill them is if you are afraid of the face damage but he was on like 14 hp.. I'm really struggling to understand the line.
@@brendanpassey8306 yeah he was just niavely thinking that if he left em alone, they would never detonate all game. And that there was zero synergies to go with them. He didn't know what to expect, shoulda thought about it longer probably, or he just never fights mech hunter decks ever.
I appreciate the video in honor of the hunter, but the best way to pay tribute is to become the even hunter yourself

It's funny how often I find myself doing that on streamers videos.
Whenever they go up against a homebrew deck, you gotta root for them. Granted, most of Kibler's decks are homebrewed, but still - it's fun to see him lose against something even more off-meta.

Before Boomsday, I had an even variant of the recruit Hunter; it was not very good, but a lot of people friended me and said it was a neat deck. I feel like the bomb variant of it is gonna be much better.
I've ecnountered one of these, but mine was the more typical beast deck one. I have no effing clue how to stand a chance against them as a Mage, cuz by the time you can even have enough mana to use Jaina, u have no health left to survive and they have already played Rexxancer with poison lifesteal rush minions
Genn and rexxar are going to rotate out, so this deck comes late in the meta :/
I don't blame this hunter. He wants to play a fun deck, but he also needs to be able to stand up to the BS that is ladder.

Anyway, I have over 100 games in even hunter and it's one of the most polarizing decks in the game. Ultimately the most skill the deck requires involves the mulligan and nothing else. Then the opponent's deck decides whether you win or lose.
Kibler was a warrior deck, there for the hunter had a favored (almost unlosable) matchup.
Eh, you can try to sing the praises of that Hunter deck all you want in the comments, but let's be honest here. That game was won exclusively by double Emerald Spellstone and Rexxar. The rest of the deck might as well not be there, those cards alone can carry whatever shell you slap them into. Even Even Bomb Hunter in Standard (Wild's a different story, mech hunter is actually a thing there).
MarcusTheAbsolute I agree to an extent I think bomb hunter did exactly what he needed it to do. If he doesn’t have all that extra damage prior to drawing rexxar he may not outlast a warrior even with “infinite value”. I will say if Kibler doesn’t underestimate the bombs he probably wins and we don’t have this convo 😂
To be fair the spellstones didn't really do much, yeah he got minions but Rexxar ultimately won the hunter that game, seriously cant wait for that card to rotate
He was on 20 health on turn 3-4 though. The bombs, totem and 1 cost power took out a lot of his health very early in the game. I think it's easy to be cynical, but the guy's running a really creative and cool deck.
@@11tw48 while yes the non-rexxar half of the deck is cool, it does look like it might have trouble closing some games, if the hunter didn't play Rexxar there was no way the hunter was going to able to close out this game, essentially Rexxar carried this game. Killing Crowd Roaster, Grom, and Frothing just to name some of the threats that Rexxar killed
MasterMike 05 right but the argument is the rest of the deck is useless and I think that’s wrong. Of course Rexxar carries the late game that’s what he’s supposed to do.
But as 11 tw said Kibler was losing life rapidly every turn, without that consistent damage not even Rexxar wins this late game against Dragon Warrior, too tanky. They would lose in fatigue.

If you had blank cards in your deck and just started with Rexxar only, you could win most games.
I remember when Rexxar first came out and everyone loved it, because it was a fun, powerful card in a class that was extremely weak at that time (Frozen Throne). As soon as Hunter gets an actually good tempo deck, Rexxar becomes sooo busted. That's a definite flaw in the card's design. It should probably cost like 8 or something, so it's only a consideration for slower hunter decks.

I saw this deck back in November. User named Chump apparently made it, featured by Dekkster Gaming.
I fucking love this game so much, In the beginning Kibler thought the deck was cute because it had no chance of winning then as the game progresses (And Rex comes down) Kibler starts to get a little annoyed. Then at the end he swings back around to happy because at least it was a funny deck and not the same shit he always sees.
Rexxar deck... no matter what you put in it, just play rexxar and the codeline will do.. oops the rng will do the rest and win you games for free. 1600 dust well invested.
I was curious about that bomb deck, but in reality it is just a secret rexxar deck with some filling with bombs.

I've actually been playing the same even hunter deck as the guy in this video for a long time. It can be great sometimes but he had exceptional draw this game. Most games you have very bad draw and you depend on the infinite value from Rexxar (for me at least, maybe this guy just plays the deck better). Still dope to see it being played by others as well!
This is up there with the shadowform priest video from a long time ago. Slow clap to your opponent for playing a cool deck.

That hunter's zombeasts were ridiculous. Almost all had either lifesteal, poisonous, charge, or rush.
Please make this even hunter and play it please for the love of god, for me
I would say the hunter's deck was amazing, but he only won because of Rexxar =/ the cycle can't come fast enough
In fairness, though? Almost all of the face damage came from bombs and hero power. And that was a LOT of face damage. What Rexxar basically did was keep the board clear of threats.
And Kibler would have lost if he hadn't gotten the 2 5 armour dragons before he even played rexxar
@@0089321 The hunter also got 2 fully powered up spellstones in that time. I'd call that pretty even as far as "having the right thing at the right time" is concerned.

Is it sad between the spellstone, secrets, maybe zuljin cause we didn't see him, and the DK hunter can go even? The only real mistake he made was not killing the bombs. What a world we live in.
in fact, we saw 21 of the 30 cards he played, I as well find it sad that we didn't got to see what the remaining 9 cards in his deck were. He _was_ holding one card in his hand for a really long time tho, so there is a large chance that would be Zul'Jin...
however, there are seven cards that we only saw one of (Serpent Ward, Freezing Trap, Venomizer, Dire Wolf Alpha, Bomb Toss, Defender of Argus and Sea Giant), so there is also a big chance that he was playing two of each of them.
I also noticed he got a lot of inspiration from the more popular even decks: even warlock and even shaman, seeing cards like Dire Wolf and Sea Giant (from even shaman) and cards like Defender of Argus (from even warlock).
so have fun speculating what the rest of the deck would be... ;-)

I mean, this really just displayed the power of spellstone and Rexhar. put whatever garbage you want in the deck, but have those two and decent secrets and draw them, you have a decent chance of winning.
I think it shows how good those cards can be against *slow control decks*.

6:48 wouldn’t it be good to dust breaker and then roaster the sea giant? Only leaves the hydra up and you have a more threatening board. Idk if it is better to hold onto the dust breaker tho.
What's the point of putting two minions on board if the Hydra would take them both out? Waste of resources.

Why is everyone praising this guys deck. Didn't you guys every play against this? This is not his deck!
I'm so happy Kibler got trashed by Even Hunter. I've been experimenting with Even Hunter for 4-5 months and have had really great results with it. This is a perfect example of how the deck works too. You get them low with your initial damage and then Rexxar to finish it up. Warrior is the worst class to play the deck against.
There's also a Mojomaster Zihi variant that allows you to just ride out the game with bombs, hero powers, and magnetics, that is best against combo decks. Venomizer + Missile Launcher is a semi-permanent board clear against late game control decks. The only thing that has really given me trouble with Even Hunter is Warriors and armor Druids.
PS - I
Btw, for people talking about the Hunter running out of steam - typically you'd also run something like a Cultmaster or Cyberchip to refill in the Zihi variant. Shaw also really helps if you go the Cultmaster route. This is the kind of deck where the game is decided around turn 8-12. If you hit 10 mana after you drop Zihi you can typically just concede.
