I always think of a film set like a team sport, everyone has to understand their role and try to do it the best of their ability and things fall apart when ego gets the best of people. Was on a film set once where the director's parents showed up and started bossing people around. Wasn't a fun time.
I'm learning so much from this channel - most importantly, the encouragement that Danny provides makes such a difference in actually putting my new knowledge to use.
okay this is a big call but this is my favourite RUclips video I've watched so far I've been feeling uninspired recently with my video work but this video has reinspired me its my dream to work on set with a crew like y'all love your channel so much bro keep it up!!
I love Matti, but there are several things you are offering that are unique here that he doesn't and that's probably why he likes watching your channel. You have a great personality and are just a likable guy. You also show us real experience on actual sets for real work vs. just a bunch of b-roll footage. And you aren't focused on gear, but the overall experience and techniques of being a good filmmaker. I love you.

So over the past few weeks I've taken your lessons to heart, and I've started reaching out to people who're basically doing what I want to be doing, and seeing if I can be of use to them. That landed me a gig as Second AC on a movie set starting this week, which I'm a little nervous about, but seeing the wonderful vibes on this set you were on is getting me really excited! Filmmaking is so rad :)
@@DannyGevirtz Update - yesterday we wrapped on the first four days of shooting, and it was awesome. 25-ish people running around in 95 degree weather and the sun at full blast, but it was so, so worth it. The shots were amazing, the people were wonderful, everyone was looking out for each other, and I learned so, so much in such a short period of time. Also seeing sunrise every morning while driving to set was so nice :)

Hi Danny, any suggestions you can give us for your desktop/laptop setup for editing? Ive only got the iPad Pro (with Lumafusion), EOS R and Atomos Ninja V. Unfortunately iPad Pro and Lumafusion do not support ProRes or DNxHR codecs (4K 10bit 4.2.2 CLOG) I can edit 4K/1080 8bit CLOG on iPad Pro with no issues, Lumafusion with LUTs all work ok etc. My bottleneck now is either using 8bit clog internal and Ninja V as monitor only or upgrade to a higher end editing machine. Thankyou

I miss being on set but I am glad you showed as nice as everyone is, it's hard work! A director getting water, that is amazing! I was like that when I directed a my film. My PA was too busy setting up lights!!

You guys wrapping up after 8 hours shoot? I was shocked that the director called in wrap when there's still sun because we don't do that.... it's always 12 hours or 14 hours shoot....

I agree that Black women are underrepresented in the film industry. I’ve only had one black woman reach out to me wanting to be apart of a shoot which I would I be more than honored to have her but she lives 3000 miles away unfortunately. Almost 99.9% people that reach out to me about working together are men
