    I’ve just got the Henry allergy after seeing your review previously and I have to say I love it, although not the standard floor tool! The hard floor tool that came with it has litter pickers on it and I find it works really well on my carpets and rug although I ordered an arobrush too!

    Thank you for this video, Roger! Love blue vacuums…for some inexplicable reason! 🤣 In North America, we leave out the “i” in the last syllable of aluminum….especially in Canada where we have a lot of aluminum mining. So we pronounce the word “a-LOO-mi-num.” Our big aluminum companies are Alcan and Alcoa: Aluminum Company of Canada and Aluminum Company of America.

    I've got Blue Henry, I think I told you on an earlier video you need to be really fit and strong, which I'm not! I've got the pro kit, which does make it much easier. I was a bit disappointed to start with as I can't clean with the standard head. If like me you're prone to generating static electricity, you need to be careful, because you'll give yourself a rare belt when you touch metal!

    I’d love you to test the suction of a Henry or James with a bag that’s half full or full to capacity. It would be interesting to see how much the 80-odd suction figure diminishes… be interesting to see how much you lose in turbo head performance too…

    • @sdm3447
      @sdm3447 Год назад

      I have to say that the microfibre bags (even the copy bags as that's all I use these days) are absolutely brilliant at maintaining high suction power when collecting every day dirt. Yes, they clog with builders dust and that very fine grey dust which seems ever-present in just about every commercial setting I have ever cleaned (I would love to know what that dust is!), but for ordinary household dirt they are just fabulous at maintaining good airflow. In fact, most I change bags because they are starting to get smelly, rather than losing power, but in some cases where there has been no smell, I've been known to fill a dust bag to capacity, as there was still loads of suction.

    A thing I noticed. Being a straight suction nozzle I recommend only using it for hard floors or having a full size upright with a rotating brush that you use every month or so to keep the carpets more clean. Reason being James has no agitation there for it won't clean carpets as well as a unit with agitation.

    Thing is, Henry isn’t that much more money and really, the cord rewind is a much neater solution than wrapping the cord around the top manually. Never understood why people scrimp on a Henry and opt for a James…

    • @huskyvacs
      @huskyvacs Год назад +1

      The James is for commercial cleaners and the cord rewind is dumped because it is a high wear part and it is more prone to breaking with heavy use which puts the cleaner in shop downtime and it's time wasted, so this is why the manual cord wrap is used. That's how the thought process is for the commercial environment. You want something to be as simple and with as little breakable parts as possible.

    • @sdm3447
      @sdm3447 Год назад

      Nor me, not for home use certainly. Henry all the way. I take on board the comment about the flex winder being a point for failure, and I agree it is, but when you see the state of the flexes on cleaners without the rewind mechanism when used by multiple people in commercial settings, it's a very poor trade-off, as the long leads are hard work to wind and store, and get horrifically twisted.

    • @huskyvacs
      @huskyvacs Год назад

      Well that's down to the employees bending the cables moreso than the vacuum.
      I have a handy tip for fixing those extension/power cords/cables. Preferably disconnect it from the vacuum entirely, lay the cord out as straight as possible, take an old propane tank like for your grill, and tape one end of the cord to the top or bottom of it, then wind the cord all the way around the propane tank as tightly as you can, really wind it on there like hulk strength and straighten it out as you wind it around so its flat. Once all the cord is on, tape the other end down good, and then leave the entire thing sit in the sun for a few hours a day and then let it cool down. Repeat leaving it out in the sun to get hot for several days and then when you remove the cord from the cylinder, you will find it has gotten a perfectly looped shape back to it. @@sdm3447

  • @sdm3447
    @sdm3447 Год назад

    It seems the stupidest thing ever that the likes of Numatic have changed the floor tool simply to obtain better energy ratings when under test conditions, and yet in reality the performance and user-comfort is pretty poor. I see that the floor tool here is the single-jointed type, as opposed to the ones with some of the Henry cleaners that have been double-jointed. A couple of years ago, I had to retake my GCSE physics qualification (despite being 43 years old at the time - long story), so went to an evening class at college. When the module came around to forces and levers, I used these floor tools as examples of how a force needs to be applied in the correct place and correct way, for it to be of maximum use. The wheels on the back of these floor tools are far too close together (they need to be larger and spread out, like those seen on the floor tool of the Dyson DC01 & 2 De Stijl cleaners etc) so with these tools all the force is concentrated on the mid point, rather than across a greater surface area like with the Dyson, and that makes it so much harder to use.
    Added to which, the double-jointed floor tools "waste" a lot of force on the back-stroke, as the first thing that happens when the user pulls the tools back is that the two joints move upwards, lifting the rear wheel off the surface, before any of that force is used to move the floor tool over the surface. Hence that clopperty-clopperty-clop movement that occurs when vacuuming.
    Back in the first lockdown of 2020, I worked on the housekeeping team of a hospital. Most of the vacuum cleaners there were Karcher T-10s, all of which had the identical double-jointed floor tool as seen on Henry, and no one -and I mean no one- I spoke to seemed to like the floor tools, not least because they stuck to hard floors like glue (and there was very little carpet to clean, save for the odd office that was awaiting refurbishment). That, and the clopperty-clopperty-clop movement of the tool, they were not well liked.
    Shortly after that, I did some domestic work for an elderly lady who had a Henry from 2016. Not only did the floor tool drive me to drink for all the reasons I mentioned above, but the suction was so strong that the floor tool would grip the carpets and the tubes would then separate when pulled backwards. I seemed to spend more time picking the lower tube and floor tool up off the floor & putting the two back together than I ever did cleaning. I still love the Henry though, I just wish more attention would be given to the floor tool.
    As for James, I can understand why the slight price difference may be appealing to a large cleaning company who might by 20 or more cleaners in one go, but for someone buying one for their own home I really think the extras that you get with a Henry for not much more money are so very worth it. I've also never understood why James has a shallower dust container - what's that all about?
