    when a mtb rider goes expensive they have two hub paths, as loud as possible or as quiet as possible

      Late reply but barely noticeable. 690POE vs infinite engagement. One is 0.5° of engagement one is infinite. You can’t really notice it when you engage the hubs . One uses a sprag clutch one uses a pawl drive mechanism

    The vesper and Hydra are both good but for DH riding and heavier riders the vesper will not hold you up and that clutch will slip.

    • @TimLikesBikes
      @TimLikesBikes  Год назад +2

      This is not true… in the early days the vesper had slippage issues but they’ve fixed that long ago. Now they’re trouble free, I’ve got 3-4 guys I know riding hard on theirs over 240lbs flawlessly. Make sure if you regurgitate online articles you make sure they’re up to date/current information first 😉

    • @trailpimp6369
      @trailpimp6369 Год назад

      @@TimLikesBikes so last year I got some carbon wheels with vespers front and rear. I even got a custom color. The rear hub when in low gear climbing would slip and I could not climb. They were fine for lighter weight riders but would not hold me up and slipped. I still have my front one but had to got the rear changed to a Hydra and it did not cost anything. Several shops advised me that if over 180 pounds the vesper will slip but I have heard they will hold up heavier riders too. Yeah I am not sure man they did not work for me but great hubs. I love the front one.

    • @TimLikesBikes
      @TimLikesBikes  Год назад +1

      @@trailpimp6369 that sucks. I’m on my 3rd set now myself and at 195-200lbs geared up they’ve been incredible. I know the original vespers had issues and they were making an aftermarket fix for them but from what I know now they’ve improved them. In fact, I’m a Nobl Wheels dealer snd every set I’ve sold with vespers this year was to a rider 190lb+. I love hydras and haven’t had any issues there either (had 11 sets) but a buddy just stripped out the drive ring on a 4 month old set and had to send his out

    • @trailpimp6369
      @trailpimp6369 Год назад

      @@TimLikesBikesyeah I had the same thing happen to an industry 9 system hub as well as other issues with those wheels and the free-hub body. But one year of riding the Hydra rear and vesper front with spoke X SX 310 carbon wheels and no issues at all. I ride Northstar bike park every weekend and trail ride during the week. I also do a lot of shuttle DH riding where I live and no issues. I might do the onyx classic with my next set of wheels. I also think the industry 9 non system hub is more robust then the system hub with those aluminum spokes.🔥🤩

    I hate those noisy things in bikes, motorcycles and cars. It's stupid and annoying. When I was a kid we used to put an empty and crushed plastic bottle in the rear wheel of a bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. Since then I think those sounds are for little kids. Mature men spending money on that are ridiculous.
