I'm planning to get the Taito Super Pocket and some of my favorite carts for my special someone for the holidays this year...that's the Evercade device that makes the best gift IMO. The VS-R Tomb Raider bundle can also make a great gift for people who prefer to game on the TV or play multiplayer a lot though (mind you, they'll need an extra controller for each extra player)...
Spot on with this round-up and agree with what you say about the Alpha (I hope we're both wrong!). On the EXP, I bought mine second hand in January and it's been super reliable and I get about 3-4 hours battery life, so no hassle there. There is a bit of light bleed, but otherwise no grumbles. So for viewers wondering about picking up the old EXP second hand, I would just make sure it's a more recent one. The Capcom games will be missed on the EXP-R.
I've decided to go for the Taito Super Pocket and Gaelco Collections for World Rally 1& 2. It's the arcade titles that interest me so hoping for a few more arcade carts.
The Alpha probably won't be for me, but the chance to actually play Final Fight or Street Fighter 2 multiplayer on Evercade is nice. It always frustrated me that some of the best multiplayer games in the Evercade ecosystem are only playable on the 1-player handheld!
I bought one after Christmas and its great but some of the games are no longer available. Like the Oliver twins collection. People are selling it for £100 on ebay!
Just bought a second hand white EXP boxed with IREM, Tomb Raider, Atari arcade and code masters for £120. I was happy at that price. You think that was a good deal? Love your videos. Keep up the great work 👍
You did well with that deal! You could sell the Atari and Codemasters (legacy carts) for a tidy profit if you get bored of them or it's not your thing.
they want to take the majority of the retail cut on other platforms, not be the ones taking the small cut through third party licensing. The fact they haven't done anything of the sort since way back in the HanaHo days is quite telling.
I was looking forward to joining the Evercade community and getting a VS-R but have really been put off by Blaze. Looks like it’s gonna be a Spectrum this Christmas from Retro Games Ltd.
Good choice. Retro Games Ltd actually fix any issues/bugs with their systems quickly, unlike Blaze who take half a year to reveal they can't be bothered.
@@CrazyBurger I'm hearing rumours the EXP-R might not make it until December. Banking it all on a niche arcade system while at the same time making people who would have bought in with Tomb Raider and Kain struggle to get a system in a shop is baffling business. This is why companies like Nintendo don't discontinue the old models until a year or so after the new system launches.
Just got the VS-R In the mail today. My first dip into evercades universe. Unfortunately I bought it with the xenocrisis multicart… and it doesn’t work. So seems like the quality control issues I’ve been reading about are true from my very first cart 😢
@@homersdouble4132 tried it and unfortunately didn’t work. Guess I just got unlucky with a dodgy cartridge. I’ve emailed Blaze so hopefully they get a replacement sent out. Thanks for taking the time to try and help 💪
@@Markinator83 What a nonsensical comparison, most emulatable games are either available for purchase legally on PC if you want to support souless corporations because the original devs are long gone, or not available in which case you're no one is losing sales if you get them any other way. EXP-R would be the best if it had HDMI but they dropped that to cut costs (unless amazon info is wrong?). Super Pocket would be more attractive if it had the Saturn D-pad. Not a fan of the vertical gameboy though.
I finally bought in with the Alpha. Not for most people, but perfect for me!
Get the Tomb Raider and Duke Nukem collections and you’re set lol
Great guide CB and timely as we head into the run up to the festive period :-) Keep up the awesome work!

A shame for Blaze that they've created a situation where, at the time of their biggest releases, its next to impossible to buy Evercade hardware new.

You may as well buy a switch. The capcom arcade collections were £10 each last week that's 64 capcom games for £20 !!!
What's the point of this vs some generic handheld hardware that can emulate thousands of games in a memory stick?
what's the point of going to work when u can just rob others?
