You did a good restoration but may be it was damaged by running the pump dry. Centrifugal pumps need to be operarated with fluid, if not, the mechanical seal and other components may be damaged.

You have really tried but running the pump dry even for 1 minute burns the seal,testing both suction and delivery with plastic papers is not enough you need a pressure testing bay to determine the head,pressure and flow rate after grinding the front suction housing that reduced the head.testing also will indicate any leaks.bearings must never be hammered only use a press machine unless on emergency cases and new ceramic seal finally use sellicon or grease keepnup the good grinding works.....hope you have mufflers....which country is this ......right tool for the right job is my choice.....
If the coil is undamaged, and works there is no need to fix something that is not broken. If the capacitor is working, then its working, no need for a new one.

Also, he could remove the stator to clean any rust on it. That wasn't a restoration video... That was a painting video, not a good one either.
I was highly unimpressed. This was a cleaning and painting. Why bother putting it back in service? At the very least the starter cap should have been replaced and ring connectors. crimped and soldered, should have been placed on the mains input wires. I noticed that the hot side was just about touching the case. I hope your friend didn't watch this.
Don't get me wrong it's a tidy enough little workshop space....with tools in racks etc... There's even a bench power supply handy... But I still can't understand why he failed to earth something that's so obviously a class 1 item...
AHHH..only restore not fix/repair? I have a few old pond pumps that stopped working. I was hoping you had a vid of what goes wrong. Pond/waterfall pumps are pricey toys not made with much longevity to them. The whole home pond hobby would tell you that.

The half-@$$ery is insane. Overspray and paint scratched off in spots plus painted wires and no replacement of any components. This isn't a resto, it's a bandaid on a gunshot wound.
did you know the sandblasting ? and why you did not change the cooper coils and capacitor???????.....mmmm its just clean and paint...that is not a restoration ! and a pump dont even run dry ! because the mecanic seal !

If you knew the components are easily get rusty, why don’t you spray anti rust primer before spraying with actual colour
