I'm considering getting a flat top griddle and your channel has been absolutely invaluable! I never realized just how many different things you can cook on it beyond burgers and breakfast
My first shot at hibachi steak and shrimp today. I followed your lead except we don't eat broccoli or peas. Also, I put my shrimp on later than you did to make sure I didn't overcook them. It turned out great! Your flattop videos are the best.
Just bought my first griddle (Blackstone 28" XL Griddle Range Top Combo) All seasoned up, ready to use. First cook is today! Love your recipes and how you teach and the techniques to use. Thank you for your service! I am a veteran myself. Thanks for what you do! Keep Griddling!!
I find it curious that our culture has misinterpreted this style of cooking. Hibachi is for all intensive purposes a BBQ or grilling, where as cooking on a griddle is teppanyaki style of cooking. For imitating a culture derived from tradition, and our culture from rebellion, I guess it's no wonder why we do this. I have to say though, whether you call it Hibachi or Teppanyaki, y'all have created a great channel and thank you for sharing your recipes. We are so grateful for helping us with our cooking. God Bless!
Yeah you are 100 percent correct. I had no idea i was interpreting it wrong until someone said something about it. Heck evan our local restaurants are called hibachi.
Actually, in Japan a hibachi is a pipe-shaped pot filled with hot coals to heat up a room. The grill we refer to as a hibachi is properly referred to as a shichirin.
Yes, thanks for the clarification. Many words and meanings get mis-used over time and become vernacular. (For what it's worth, the phrase you wrote should have been : "for all intents and purposes".)
I have 4 grandsons coming this weekend, and this feast is in the crosshairs. I’m glad I bought the 48” camp chef…those boys can eat! Thank you for this presentation. Pre-prep and cooking in the correct order are key, and you laid it out well. 👍
I've had my 36 for about 2 months now and it's now my favorite amongst my Napoleon and Ceramic smoker. I use it way more than the others now. Like your shows and that you make it fun doing them with your wife. Thanks for all the ideas to try. Can't wait to do this one. Oh, and I agree, I'm SO glad I bought the 36" griddle. I cooked professionally on a flat top for years. I missed it so much that last week I bought the 22” because it’s only my husband and I. The size is just right but the heating is off. Even on low, the flat top stays at around 460-470 and the middle is the hottest. It’s going to take a while to get used to using this. I am now kind of kicking myself for not researching more. Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks. I agree with your wife, that’s a lot of food for two people. Leftovers for a week. Lol looks great.
Thanks Lisa. Dont let her fool ya, she ate it all. Hahaha. As far as the temp thing goes i have a video about does temps matter. We all have the same problem out of our griddles and I now have three. Blackstone camp chef and pitboss.
@@TheFlatTopKing oh wow. I will have to search your channel to see a comparison. And also regarding the heat. Lol glad she ate it up. It sure looked delicious. I might make some rice today and make this tomorrow. Yum.

I started with an Adventure Black Stone. 90% just my wife and I and was fine for most cooks. I just got a 36 and love the extra room for dishes with multiple ingredients
I am just exploring what I can do with mine. I cooked shrimp bacon wrapped skewers with pineapple and cherries. A couple of skewers of barbecue and honey. Then couple of butter and garlic for my wife. They all turned out great. The tip about the sweet sauce was priceless. You need to stress that more. Thanks a bunch. Go Navy. Peewee
Great video as usual, and the results look amazing. Old video but the same basic principle as a wok, especially on my blackstone because of the center hot spot. A lot of cooks will not use refrigerated rice. They also mix a short grain rice with a long grain jasmine rice. Rinse the rice until it runs clear being careful to do this quickly so the rice doesn't absorb too much water. Add less water than on the directions. Cook the rice, let it cool some then lightly oil it to help keep the grains separated, you can actually get by without this step. A lot of Asian chefs say to never cook cold rice. I used to cook it cold and it will work, but it's much better to cook it room temp.

Hi, I‘m writing you from Germany. You are doing a great job! As the griddle grills are not so common here you do not have the amount of dealers selling them. I’m very interested in the Blackstone 36” as this is one i can oder in Europe. My concerns are if the griddle will rust if i use it one or two time a month. Can i avoid this by putting on oil after using it and the silicone mat? I don’t want to spend more time in maintaining instead of using it. And the pit boss with the ceramic coat is not an option to me… your opinion would be very helpful! Thank you
hahaha Yeah that happens for sure....I get asked all the time...what size..I always tell people go bigger than you would think..it helps open up more opportunities...
Love the videos. Any concern with using the griddle in cold temps? I’ve heard horror stories about them warping in cold temps as soon as the food hits.
