Not sure what you've heard, they are solid plastic and have held up great. We've had zero issuea with them and still love them. We have heard there is a new mold that is coming but dont have details yet

How are they on the road? Do they rattle a lot?
Zalde Sapla like regular fenders. At high speeds they have a bit of a flutter, but not bad
What tire and wheel size you have there?
Those are 35x12.50 r17's. We have since moved up to 37's
