  • todays video is on a 1 1/2hp Worthington Hit and Miss Engine Revival.
I got this engine pretty cheap last year as it was stuck and missing the magneto. I luckily found the parts I needed a couple months after I got it so wasn't to bad.

Awesomeness…Very happy to see you left the engine original. No museum painting or pin striping. Great job!

It took nature 100 years to get it to the way it looks now. No point in spending a few days undoing it to have an engine that looks like any other restored engine. Spend the time on mechanical problems and leave the paint. Easier and in my personal taste better looking then most fully repainted engines. Especially the ones people take apart repaint fix nothing and put back together that run terribly. Hate when people waste time on the wrong part of what an engine needs.

Boy, my father would whoop me if I used channel locks, crescent wrench, side cutters, and a hammer like that. I do appreciate the wire wheel cleaning and arms deep in the parts washer with no gloves. Great job, keep it up!

Not much else you would want to use. Most of the nuts don't fit standard wrenches very well, not much you can grab round objects with then a good pair of channel locks, and other then wire cutting that's what side cuts and used for. That's why some older folks will call them cotterpin removers. Needle nose won't get any of them out as they cant grab them good enough.

Thanks! The footage you just watched was the compiled videos of 2 and a half days of work. So about 20 to 25 hours of work. Taking two weekends and a night after work. If I wanted to cut back on time I could have easily got it running without taking almost anything apart and just getting it all loose. Would have taken a few hours to do that at the most. Now after this video I'll eventually post a finally video of it running after I get it tuned and fixed up more. That's at least another few days of work. Some problems go unnoticed until you run it for awhile. But most people just stop where I ended this video and a lot of engines you see at shows are running like that. But I like to get the small kinks rolled out on engines I go through.

    Nice lift table ! -- What's the capacity ?

I believe it's 1000 pound rated capacity. I've had a 5hp economy on it so it is at least 500
