I have a specific question hoping you can answer. If you play a yt or nf video on uour phone when CarPlay is connected, what exactly happens on the car infotainment unit? Does it play there as well? Does it only play the sound there or does not do any video or audio?
@@sordidloam I had an extra phone with a T-Mobile sim card and transferred it to this carlinkit box and worked fine. I didn't have to do anything to get it to work
I have the same issue, I even swapped out the 5g/4g Verizon sim for a 4g only sim and it won’t connect. However if I set the network type in settings to the NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM and toggle airplane mode it works like a charm and connects to 4G. Issue is when I restart car it defaults back to the bottom selection and it’s dead again. Has to be firmware update to keep that setting (make it stick)
@@sordidloam actually there was a FW update that came out on 1/13 on carlinkit site that resolved the issue. The box now remember the network selection every boot 👍🏼

The questions is; if I get the device shown in the video, can I watch Netflix using only my iPhone? I don’t own any android mobile devices. Only an iPhone. Also, can my wife in the passenger seat still watch Netflix while we’re traveling on the road and the gear is on Drive? Looking forward to your feedback.
I connected this piece to the Pioneer 3800 screen and it works well... but I have a problem. The piece works well with the mobile SIM card and works well with the hot spot from an Android phone, but when I try to connect it to the hot spot from an iPhone, this message appears (IP configuration failure). The SIM card is optional and only up to you. When you are watching movies and doing other internet activity you need to either share internet from your mobile phone hotspot or have a SIM inserted.

Because there is still no jailbreak for iPhones and I can’t install cartridge which device you bought if mostly time used CarPlay but sometimes you wanted to watch RUclips. money don’t play here big role please give your best suggestion. Called Verizon wireless and they said they do not support this device to add a sim card. Are you aware of anyone who has used a verizon sim and how they connected? I was hoping to use a data only sim to add to my Verizon account.
This one is an android box so you can do other stuff like watching netflix or youtube compared to carlinkit 4.0 which is just wireless carplay and android auto.

Does anyone have trouble using it with 2023 Outback? It works on my fiancée 2020 Legacy. The carplay icon comes up right away, but never on my newer outback. I tried all the cables, delete and re-add all over again, yet still not working.
Does Maps app work well? Got mine first AI box (generic noname one) recently, Maps are basically unusably slow. Spotify works slow but good enough to do the job. Another related question: if you play music and use navigation from the Maps on this device, is audio quality good? What happens with my box is that whenever I start the navigation, audio quality drops to the floor + only one speaker used.
And a follow up questions: - is it possible to have a split screen (e.g. Maps + Spotify) AND the panel with shortcuts on the side? - is it possible to change the side of the panel? - is it possible to change shortcuts in the side panel?
Maps isn’t amazing. I still prefer that from my phone. I feel like the layout of maps on my larger telluride screen isn harder to use , especially while driving. Had it exit out of my trip on accident when hitting bumps.
@@DmitryAstapkovich It's not bad. I prefer not to use it unless my kids want to watch movies while we wait for something. I'm just old enough and impatient enough that my technology can't really get fast enough for me. The slowness of wireless carplay, esp anything siri speech related, is intolerable. I'd say, it's great for messing around. Also, I've owned a few others and it's faster than those, previous generation ones. Just still not quite fast enough for me. Your mileage may vary.

Totally not worth it $200. I have my wired android auto which doesn't lag and it charges your phone at the same time. Just get magnet cable connectors for easy plug and you are good to go. Cheers
But can you play Netflix and other apps or games on your screen? I used to, but since Google updated AA I can't do it anymore. This gives you video streaming on screen and access to the web and other apps you can't get on AA.

Doesn’t work with T-Mobile. They don’t support cdma gsm.

You can use this with aftermarket radios that support wired Apple Car play. Works with my Boss Audio Elite unit just fine.

When you are on "android mode", is the mobile connected at least with factory unit Bluetooth in order to use the phone?

Another video comment section talks about needing an app called 4g lte to make it choose 4G only. I've not tested, but will soon.

You will have to log in to Netflix from the device. Yes, it will stay on even if the vehicle is moving.
This unit really does work. The set up can be a bit of a pain. But once you get the hang of it Wow! 👍

I tried it with 2016 Chevy siverado 2022 Acura MDX and 2014 Kia Sorento nothing comes up on the screen just blinking light on the dongle that’s it
