I have had so many Alpine units in past 35 years in multiple vehicles i had,they are best value for money and simple to work on for up grades to a mega audio system. In my Navara Np300 i have x208au with x series amp,speakers and 12' sub woofer it sounds so good that I'm loosing my hearing.... Good on you Alpine never disappoint...
Looks tidy as, definitely considering one just to get rid of that safety message and being able to have wireless Android auto is also a huge plus. Just recently put a kicker 10 inch hideaway sub under the front passenger seat of mine and has made a massive difference especially for the size of it.
I've been eyeing this unit for a while. I have installed Morel front splits and rear co-ax's along with a JL sub in a custom box behind the rear seat into my 22 D'Max. Running off of Audio Control Amplifiers from the factory head unit. The reason am pondering this is I too am wanting proper wireless Android on top of the constant "could it sound/be better' voice in my head! 🙃
Another great video mate but not something I will be looking at. It seems a bit intrusive to me and I really don't mind the original. As for the potential speaker upgrade video, yes please!

That safety message might be the one save you from causing accident dude...they didnt make it to annoy you or anyone,they did that because they want everybody alive and well mate

Hmm... very tempted to go down this route for mine but having a hard time justifying the outlay, although I imagine the screen-size updgrade alone would be nice compared to my poor 7" SX screen...! 😅 Did you notice any improvement in the sound quality from the factory speakers with this upgrade by chance? I've swapped head units in previous cars and been impressed by the improvement on factory sound so hoping that something like this might negate my need to upgrade speakers too. Hey mate, yeah I know it hurt a bit, but love the big screen! As far as sound, maybe a bit, the HD audio is def a thing if you love your tunes, the 2x subs have ruined it all now though haha.. need to get some speak upgrades happening to keep up

Hi Adam, i just purchased the Halo 11, and i cant see anywhere on how to "Tilt" adjust the screen? Is it just a matter of moving it once it has the 4 screws in? I have an Izusu Mux 2022 and can only assume the Dmax is the same, the "premium" sound system is beyond terrible, easily the worst part of these cars, did the head unit upgrade alone improve this? Would this be a decent upgrade without going all out on speakers, sub and amp?

Thanks for the video Adam, love your work, and this upgrade is definitely on the cards for me. Funny that you mention that you were having issues with the wired android auto USB connection on the factory stereo as I find Android Auto randomly drops out, I have tried using multiple USB cables as well as 3 different types of AA Wireless Dongles to see if that would rectify the issue but it still frustrates me to no end and that is what the key driver would be for me replacing it. Out of interest have you noticed any sound quality improvement on the factory speakers just upgrading the deck?
Yeah I'm convinced that the USB port was the culprit for me also, I have tried wired android auto with this unit and it works straight away with the cables I tested. Maybe slight increase in the speakers quality? Probably more so to do with the equaliser settings that's available on the head unit. They will be replaced soon anyway! 😉😁

Very envious, looks shmick 👌. Mine was right in front of yours, haven't even had it a month yet. I was hoping the Yowie would have been on it. I'm in the process of trying to figure out the tub setup, not settled on how I want to do it yet. Like your approach and it would be mad to have the tent on the tub a bit lower potentially. Just gotta figure out if there is a way I can get some added security and protection from dust and rain etc. Otherwise will be a canopy job I think.
Hey Adam Q re camera connection, do you connect the Camera Signal jack from the stinger kit to the Drive Recorder in (yellow Jack) on the Radio, this seems a bit vague in your connections yet once in the car the 2 yellow jacks are connected. I have followed the connections the same as you but my reverse camera does not work on the radio. Any thoughts? TIA
@@VideoShowMeHowhaving the same problem. I have selected the reverse camera in the settings. Tried both PAL and NTSC with no difference. The camera just comes up as black screen with the guide lines when I select reverse.
No I didn't I'm afraid, is fairly easy bunch of bolts along the rails and then there's a couple in the corners next to the roller shutter canister. In particular, there's one or two from memory up behind the canister, which is a bit of a bugger to get to.

Hey Adam I’ve started the installation on the Alpine unit into the D-MAX but hit a bit of rock with installing it I’m left with 4 wires from the D-MAX that need to plug into the Alpine unit. Also my navigation and camera systems aren’t working on the D-MAX.
Since the android player have hdmi. Is it possible to have separate screen? Like the second screen for navigation and main screen do other thing. Is that possible?
Hmmm great idea, unsure if it could run both at the same time. I've got a fire stick in there and to enable you select the HDMI on the main screen, unsure how you have both screens on

Loving the DMax build videos. I have a new Mazda BT 50 and am trying to follow a lot of the mods you are adding. I am trying to remove the infotainment from the BT 50, but the shape of the dash and the air vents are different. I'm having trouble re moving with trim tools. Do you know of an article or video that explains how to do what you have done with the DMax to the BT 50?
Hello, I am facing a problem with the device. I bought it from Amazon. When I wanted to install it, it does not work. It gives a signal on the Alpine screen and turns off. I do not know what the reason is. Is it from the factory or something else? I hope you can help me.
Hmm hard to say over comments, would suggest double checking all connections, also make sure you have the 'power strip' the little plastic strip installed correctly
Quick question. DO you recall the part number for Isuzu D-MAX usb and jack 3.5mm replacement PCB and plastic cover. I dont need the full kit only that part for my Halo Install.

Hi Adam. Great videos. Iv got a question. What have I stuffed up by not plugging the steering control in before everything else. I got a bit excited and started connecting everything and forgot about doing the steering control first so when I turn on the ignition of my 2023 Dmax the screen stays blank on my Alpine 11inch head unit. Bugger !!. Neil.
Hi, the steering controlodile is really sensitive and can short it seems if plugged in out of order (I had to get another from doing this). Blank screen won't be that though, I'd suggest maybe the little thin strip of plastic aka 'power strip's I think they call it may not be seated properly. Next I'd check the earth.
I want to install the screen remotely - I want an umbilical cable to bridge between the screen and head-unit. Has anyone tried this? (Think of a Computer & Monitor setup). I want to install the screen in FRONT of the existing screen in an old Chrysler 300, on a pivot that lets you access the original screen whenever necessary (heated/cooled seats, etc).

Adam I am in the process of fitting Alpine head unit to my My21 x-terrain however the link you have listed for the Aerpro App-8ALPV 16 pin Alpine Harness comes up as an error so I don't want to order the wrong harness as there are three similar harnesses can you please direct me to the correct one. I would love to know what is different between the BT50 facia and this one, I have tried to find out however no one can tell me what the actual differences are. I found one installer that does this install however they won't say what the modifications are or what the difference is between the the bt50 & dmax and they want $920 to install the stinger facia, which really makes the purchase stupidly expensive. The stock head unit is so appalling I am using my phone to navigate as the stock head unit has a washed-out screen making it impossible to view the maps when driving.
900 to install the facia! Whoa... I can't help with the differences I'm afraid as I haven't seen the BT50 one in the flesh to compare to. Worth contacting stinger themselves? As it was with the DMAX one I ended up dremeling out a bit from the inner square to give a bit more room with the halo as was so tight

great vids... you're making me spend $$ .. 😛 quick question... the dual camera module you installed earlier.. guessing that's now redundant? can you view your cameras any time using the camera button on the alpine, or have you kept the module connected? just waiting on delivery on my halo also your bluetooth remote, how does that mount?
yeah no need for the trac system now. You can just switch between the camera front and rear via the halo and with the bluetooth volume remote (just press down to cycle through). It mounts with double sided tape, can stick it anywhere. there are brackets included can bolt to the side of the screen if you want
Fun fact: android auto and CarPlay wouldn’t necessarily be sluggish just because of the main head unit (if it was slow and sluggish) as those interfaces are ran directly on the phones.

Just a quick question, do you now find that the airvents are partially blocked bye the head unit? And does this unit have wireless carplay and Android auto?
HI, I would be very happy if you could help me out with a question about my Alpine Ilx-f903d. I was trying to put back the USB cable in the back of the head unit, but when I put it back suddenly the screen won't turn on anymore. Thought It was the ribbon cable's fault because it was removed while I was doing all this. I changed that as well because in attempt of putting it back it was somehow runied so I changed it with a new one. The thing still won't turn on but the head unit gets power.

Loving it, upgraded the firmware so running tidal etc is amazing. Have some subs in there too now and has totally changed the sound. (Vid out on these this weekend)

Hey mate, yeah sure did. The Alpine seem to be the worst on the wallet but at the same time had the most features and seem to be the highest quality. I also had a hard look at the Kenwood but it just didn't stack up spec wise and when I use both of them on display the Alpine just seemed much snappier on the interface. I wanted a big screen too and there isn't too much on the market with screens this size in the floating screen configuration. The other thing that sold me on the alpine's is the proper HD HDR cameras that you could get for them. I've got them installed now with a separate button control to trigger them whenever I want and it's absolutely awesome

@VideoShowMeHow Checked, it was on. With the cable it works, when I pull the cable out it stops working. In the notification list it says "searching for android auto" and than nothing happens.
@@VideoShowMeHow yea in America we have the radios with a parking brake wire I’m not sure if you have that the model here is ilxf507 pretty much the same radio as yours
Ahhh yeah has similar. There's a similar lockout when it comes to video in when watching a movie or something via HDMI. With some of the units you can get away with just grounding the parking wire from the head unit and that will be enough to trick the unit to think that the park brake is always on. Some of them though actually need to see it switch from positive to ground so you need a little relay to be wired in. You can get these fairly cheap from Amazon, etc. Just Google Alpine parking brake bypass
Lagging? The volumne button is great, is wireless so you just tap and it auto connects then you just twist up or down like normal. I prefer a actual knob like this rather than the button

Good job , I bought Alpine ilx f509a for my 2018 D'max and be aware the Alpine ILX-F509A doesn't come with blanket to close gep on facial.

Yeah they go alright! I've had a plan with the Kenwood and pioneer 8" units on the channel a while ago, def round outs the sound

Different facia kit, this was a stinger kit so I'd contact them 👍

Yep, it's Bluetooth, comes with brackets if you want to fix to the screen sides or can just put anywhere like I did with some double sided tape

Loving the DMax build videos. I have a new Mazda BT 50 and am trying to follow a lot of the mods you are adding. I am trying to remove the infotainment from the BT 50, but the shape of the dash and the air vents are different. I'm having trouble re moving with trim tools. Do you know of an article or video that explains how to do what you have done with the DMax to the BT 50?

Hello, I am facing a problem with the device. I bought it from Amazon. When I wanted to install it, it does not work. It gives a signal on the Alpine screen and turns off. I do not know what the reason is. Is it from the factory or something else? I hope you can help me.
Hmm hard to say over comments, would suggest double checking all connections, also make sure you have the 'power strip' the little plastic strip installed correctly
Quick question. DO you recall the part number for
Isuzu D-MAX usb and jack 3.5mm replacement PCB and plastic cover. I dont need the full kit only that part for my Halo Install.

Hi Adam. Great videos. Iv got a question. What have I stuffed up by not plugging the steering control in before everything else. I got a bit excited and started connecting everything and forgot about doing the steering control first so when I turn on the ignition of my 2023 Dmax the screen stays blank on my Alpine 11inch head unit. Bugger !!. Neil.
Hi, the steering controlodile is really sensitive and can short it seems if plugged in out of order (I had to get another from doing this). Blank screen won't be that though, I'd suggest maybe the little thin strip of plastic aka 'power strip's I think they call it may not be seated properly. Next I'd check the earth.

What is the size of the stock oem screen you took off?

I want to install the screen remotely - I want an umbilical cable to bridge between the screen and head-unit. Has anyone tried this? (Think of a Computer & Monitor setup). I want to install the screen in FRONT of the existing screen in an old Chrysler 300, on a pivot that lets you access the original screen whenever necessary (heated/cooled seats, etc).
hmm I think you'd need to install the whole thing, I'm not confident you could just have the screen seperate

Yeah it does, have front and rear cameras with this that can be activated at any time

The Alpine HDR front and rear. The Alpine Bluetooth knob cycles through the cameras or the camera button on the headunit
Adam I am in the process of fitting Alpine head unit to my My21 x-terrain however the link you have listed for the Aerpro App-8ALPV 16 pin Alpine Harness comes up as an error so I don't want to order the wrong harness as there are three similar harnesses can you please direct me to the correct one. I would love to know what is different between the BT50 facia and this one, I have tried to find out however no one can tell me what the actual differences are. I found one installer that does this install however they won't say what the modifications are or what the difference is between the the bt50 & dmax and they want $920 to install the stinger facia, which really makes the purchase stupidly expensive. The stock head unit is so appalling I am using my phone to navigate as the stock head unit has a washed-out screen making it impossible to view the maps when driving.
900 to install the facia! Whoa... I can't help with the differences I'm afraid as I haven't seen the BT50 one in the flesh to compare to. Worth contacting stinger themselves? As it was with the DMAX one I ended up dremeling out a bit from the inner square to give a bit more room with the halo as was so tight

Any troubleshooting advice? I followed this to the T and yet factory reverse cam not working😢 on corolla 2019 p.s i have 4 connectors left from the car side. One 4pin grey 2 two pin connector and one big white and black connector which looks similar to the other two connectors which connect too cht014c

Yeah, just SUPER tight behind there. I have since trimmed the stinger kit a bit with the Dremel for a bit more space

quick question... the dual camera module you installed earlier.. guessing that's now redundant? can you view your cameras any time using the camera button on the alpine, or have you kept the module connected?

yeah no need for the trac system now. You can just switch between the camera front and rear via the halo and with the bluetooth volume remote (just press down to cycle through). It mounts with double sided tape, can stick it anywhere. there are brackets included can bolt to the side of the screen if you want

Fun fact: android auto and CarPlay wouldn’t necessarily be sluggish just because of the main head unit (if it was slow and sluggish) as those interfaces are ran directly on the phones.

unsure 100%, I know the BT runs the same factory unit, would just need the right stinger kit for the BT, worth dropping them a line to confirm

HI, I would be very happy if you could help me out with a question about my Alpine Ilx-f903d.
I was trying to put back the USB cable in the back of the head unit, but when I put it back suddenly the screen won't turn on anymore. Thought It was the ribbon cable's fault because it was removed while I was doing all this. I changed that as well because in attempt of putting it back it was somehow runied so I changed it with a new one. The thing still won't turn on but the head unit gets power.
Does it have that 'powerstrip'? The little black strip of plastic? I found that to be a bit fiddley and if it wasn't right it wouldn't turn on

On the older halos yes, but doesn't seem to be able to on these :( Hopefully @Alpine updates the ability to do this

Anyone having issues with gps lock in Apple CarPlay ? Might have to move gps antenna or it’s apple CarPlay issue?
Carplay/android auto uses your device GPS not the head unit so would say has something to do with the phone mate

no I don't think so, the mic is in the factory head unit, both gps and the mic are much better from alpine anyway

How is the unit going so far?
Loving it, upgraded the firmware so running tidal etc is amazing. Have some subs in there too now and has totally changed the sound. (Vid out on these this weekend)

@@VideoShowMeHow Yes lol. Our D-Max is a GM/Chevrolet Heavy Duty diesel truck. The engine in them is called a Duramax Diesel aka D-Max or Dirtymax.

Hey mate, yeah sure did. The Alpine seem to be the worst on the wallet but at the same time had the most features and seem to be the highest quality. I also had a hard look at the Kenwood but it just didn't stack up spec wise and when I use both of them on display the Alpine just seemed much snappier on the interface. I wanted a big screen too and there isn't too much on the market with screens this size in the floating screen configuration. The other thing that sold me on the alpine's is the proper HD HDR cameras that you could get for them. I've got them installed now with a separate button control to trigger them whenever I want and it's absolutely awesome

No wifi, have you enabled wireless android auto? This isn't enabled by default, you have to toggle it on, it's in the android auto settings

With the cable it works, when I pull the cable out it stops working. In the notification list it says "searching for android auto" and than nothing happens.

@@VideoShowMeHow yea in America we have the radios with a parking brake wire I’m not sure if you have that the model here is ilxf507 pretty much the same radio as yours
Ahhh yeah has similar. There's a similar lockout when it comes to video in when watching a movie or something via HDMI. With some of the units you can get away with just grounding the parking wire from the head unit and that will be enough to trick the unit to think that the park brake is always on. Some of them though actually need to see it switch from positive to ground so you need a little relay to be wired in. You can get these fairly cheap from Amazon, etc. Just Google Alpine parking brake bypass

Lagging? The volumne button is great, is wireless so you just tap and it auto connects then you just twist up or down like normal. I prefer a actual knob like this rather than the button
