This is actually kinda wild. About eight years ago, my younger brother Kenny passed away. I know this isn’t what this song is *actually* about but when I listen to the lyrics and watch this video, it somehow reminds me of how I felt when I was grieving. I was constantly like “don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine” to the people who tried to help and support me. I kept trying to be someone who could “hold up alone/on my own” without anyone’s help, because I cared more about helping my parents through it.
And the second verse that says “took me a couple years to see you around” reminds me of how it actually took me a couple years after his death to fully recognize that he’s dead and to actually start grieving. And then it says “still have my trophies on the wall” which is CRAZY because although they aren’t MY trophies, my brother had a plethora of trophies that he won from competitions and we still have them displayed throughout the house.
Even stranger still, this song was released the week of his birthday.
I’m sure this song has some other profound meaning but to me it just reminds me of Kenny’s death.
Yo that's literally so beautiful. This is exactly why we have music, to find peace in it and make it our own. That really seems like some kind of sign from above. I hope you're doing ok.

Damn this song just symbolizes facing your problems instead of running away and letting go and knowing that feelings are temporary. We can’t control what happens on the outside but we can be at peace inside knowing that we can control that.

Loved this video so much. Symbolism reminds me of how people with chronic mental illness start to feel like their sadness or anxiety is part of the essence of who they are. They don’t know how to be without it, cannot imagine a life outside of suffering to some extent. But when we accept our pain and treat ourselves with compassion, goodness can grow. Absolutely stunning :)

I love the video. It's like saying that we view our illnesses often as a separate entity from us and even when we try to ignore them and escape they are still there and they become so overwhelming that we shut down. But when we confront them and learn to accept them as parts of our whole selves and love ourselves they aren't so bad. And we might actually be able to live with them inside of us.

As someone who struggles with chronic depression, this song/video always gets me. To me it’s a song about how feeling better is hard, and that all we can really do is try to believe that we can be someone that can get through it even when your head is telling you you that can’t happen and that all hope is lost. My heart breaks for anyone that feels like this, but seeing that feeling visualized makes me feel incredibly seen and less alone. And to anyone reading this who is hurting, I hope you feel less alone too.
