Couldn't agree more with your rant with the fuel situation. if people even used 1% of their own common sense, then this whole situation could've been avoided almost entirely.
Subscribed years ago because of your Z4 content. Followed all of your content. Great to see the progress. The content just keeps better and better. You can be proud!
Got to love Joel’s passion for driving . I’ve lost my mojo with it at the moment partly as I drive for a living (HGV) but watching things like this doesn’t half fan the flames.
I came here for the review but then thoroughly enjoyed the content as well as thoughts on your Boxster. I’m excited to purchase my ‘01 this month. Hello from the States.
oh man, thanks for the tip about putting cold or frozen groceries in the boot, it never occurred to me that it would be a very warm place. thanks. :) I just bought a 2004 Boxster S 6-speed Midnight blue a few weeks ago. it's my very first Porsche, but I've admired them ever since 1984 during my first tour in Germany. I'm a US Army vet 84-91 HOOAH.. I fell in love with the 1985 Porsche 928 S. :)
To be honest Joel, I don't have a clue how you don't have more subs, big things to come I'm sure. Looking forward to this one mate. Keep up the content!
Hey Joel. I had this problem with my Golf. One thing I would say is get it diagnosed properly by a specialist. Mine turned out to be a secondary air injection pump (and the lambda sensor was throwing a code for Catalyst efficiency below threshold) I was told by a master technician that has worked for Volkswagen group 25+ years that the ECU relearns the values from the 02 sensors after you clear it for the next hundred miles or so. So it may stay off for a while then come back on.
Thanks for the videos on the Porsche and Z4. I've been looking at a cheap coupe / cab as a second car and both are on the list. My wife would agree that the rant about lane discipline is something I frequently!
Hi Joel, lovely to see you in the boxster. I used to have a 986 myself, lovely cars. Definitely recommend the gundo hack, it 100% works and sounds incredible! Only cost about £150 too. Highly recommend! No drone either. Safe travels!
Really interested to see where this video series goes. I am looking to change my Z4Coupe3.0si for a Boxster S. Particularly keen to see any vids on sensible mods to bring out the exhaust note, lower the car etc
Can I just say on top of all the other complimentary stuff others have said, thank you for not making this a crappy clickbait title with "MY CHEAP PORSCHE BROKE DOWN ALREADY" or whatever. Nice that it wasn't the focus of the video when so many would have lept on the clickbait opp. Loving the channel mate, been watching since you were 1k subs, chuffed for ya.
I have a 04 boxster S. Regarding your check engine light. Try turning the car off for at least 15 minutes and then turn it back on..if it's still on then you probably need new plugs and maybe coils.
I just bought a 987 Boxster S 3.4 and I'm based in Hampshire as well. It would be nice to see these cars together during a car meet or something like that. Have fun....
I have no idea why the media still reports on any kind of shortage, it just causes idiocy from the vast majority of the general public. Nice video Joel and great channel.
Hi Joel. I live on the Isle of Wight and have just bought a 2.7 Boxster, I can assure you it’s a good place to explore in one. You should come back for another go!
Joel! I’ve just got myself a Porsche Boxster and I’m on the Isle of Wight! My mum (your biggest fan - you made her that video remember) just sent me your video 🤣👍 … wish I’d known - could have shown you some fun roads x
Have a look at the Gundo Hack. Name sounds horrific but it’s not at all. It might not be applicable to Boxsters, it essentially give you what the OEM Porsche switchable exhaust would give you, but switched on all the time. It’s small bypass pipe, basic welder Can do it. I did it on my 997, very very happy with the results. The noise is only under load, not in town or cruising
Fantastic purchase the boxster is a very underrated car I’ve had 2 S’s they are brilliant fun. Regarding your exhaust Get in touch with Hayward & Scott in Basildon they do a bypass it’s a must upgrade and doesn’t cost the earth there’s zero drone too it makes the car sound like it has a PSE…you won’t regret it I done it 2 both of mine👍
I had a Boxster S new in 2002 and sold it 7 months later for a 911 C2 Cab. To this day I regret selling my Boxster, they are really, really good mid-engined cars and especially when it has a Porsche badge. Enjoy your car, you’ll have issues with a 20 year old car but it’s a great machine.
Found your channel after getting my Z a few years ago. Looks like I need to step my game up and get a Boxster this Spring. Seems like the natural progression for those hooked on Roadsters. Would you say so, so far? Also, definitely needs a cat-back exhaust kit.
Great video, shame there wasn't more content of the IofW. I was over there in September for 4 days and managed to cycle round he Island. It's a beautiful place and I can't wait to go back in my Caterham.
Gotta agree with the rants on lane discipline and idiots causing shortages. Take the OBD reader with you this week in case you get the same again or something else crop up. Nice vid, glad I subbed some time back. 👍
You’ve hit on some very pertinent issues. Current & evolving.. Being a VW owner for many years myself, I know how often check engine lights can occur. Anyway, great content. Now I fancy a Porsche.. Plus glad you enjoyed our military Road. Great in the summer months. A tad quieter in the winter months 👍
Hi mate, love the silver. Keep the exhaust as is Joel. They sound great anyway. Louder doesn't always mean better. Porsche problems can cost big bucks. My friend's has been a bit of a money pit. Always wanted one myself. Very interested to see how this journey goes. Keep safe mate👍
I bought an 03 (April) 2.7 on 21st April this year and within a fortnight, I had a check engine light come on and the OBD reader told me it was a lambda sensor. My mechanic when I phoned him, told me to reset it and keep an eye on it and it has been fine since. This week the low brake pad light has come on, but that is another issue of course. I shall watch with interest and have added you on Instagram for now as I follow so many RUclips channels. I think the long oil sensor setting appears after it has been running as lots of the oil is up in the top of the engine doing its thing, so the volume cannot be measured correctly at that time. I watched the whole video now and maybe mine was an oxygen sensor too. Anyway, it never came back after a reset.
In any car when the Gauge says your out of petrol , there is a small reserve left in the Tank, sort of emergency fuel if you will, so you can actually travel maybe another 15 to 25 miles even though it’s says your empty, it’s happened to me a couple of times, so don’t panic right away, Drive safe.😊
The lemmings will continue to be lemmings hopefully fuel. Crisis will settle down My 2.5 986 brings eml on quite often and it's had new cats and 02 sensors so guess it might be a wiring issue but car always runs OK with light on or off
Brilliant, im glad you got a boxer. Joel thanks for the great tip on the blue tooth gadget, just what i need. A decent first series Boxer in Australia is$ 20,000 ,enjoy it.
I know there's not much choice in a panic fuel buying days but I never use tesco fuel for anything,,,,had a ford focus estate from work and was told to only use supermarket fuel to save ££££ which I did .3 years later and 130k miles it failed the MOT on emissions the guy and the ford garage said "been using supermarket fuel " Anyway great video
Totally feeling the lane keeping/general capability of driving issue. Same in the Netherlands. People don’t have brains, don’t know how cruise control works, think they’re on their own, drive without using their mirrors whatsoever, etc. Anyway, curious how your journey will evolve with the Boxster, coming from a Z4 3.0Si. Both are on my list to get one day. So the ultimate question is: Which one should you go for?
Been thinking that as well, make people think oh maybe an EV would be better if we have another fuel panic. But totally agree the sheep effect on this fuel panic.
Couldn't agree more with your rant on the fuel situation, all sorts of things around the fuel thing at the moment. Nice ride out in the porsche, shame you could explore and enjoy the iow roads more, good news the code has cleared, hopefully just a blip and nothing serious.
Don’t even get me started on the panic buying of fuel, and awful motorway driving! Glad to see the Porsche seems to be okay, fingers crossed it stays that way!!
Can't lie the boot was still bigger than I thought it'd be. Looks like a clean buy 👌 In terms of exhausts, I've built a J-pipe system on my Passat R36 which works brilliantly, but not sure if you'd have room on the Boxster. Worth a look anyway 👍
Oh man, (German car in) Germany and genocide in the same sentence 😅😅😅 But I really want that Porsche though, grew up saving for one, calculating when I would be able to buy one. Looking at Porsche car ads, as if I would buy one soon 😅, wondering if this model with the different headlight would still look good in the future. I believe it's still looking great and timeless. The model has special meaning to me. I love it.
I commented before the end of the video and missed the engine light issue. Mine also had this issue and turned out to be oxygen sensor, I spent hundreds trying to diagnose the issue and hundreds fixing it. Just make sure whoever works on the car realises that the banks are opposite to what you would think due to the engine layout. Best of luck!
Such a shame! The military road is epic. I've not driven that road in years! So good if you get a mostly clear run. Hope the car stays without the CEL for the next video 👍
I wouldn’t mind a 25 quid Amazon voucher 🤣🤷🏼♂️🙏🏼 I also got loads of family over the Isle of Wight and love driving over there. Military road is a god send!
Hi Joel, thanks for these wonderful videos. Appreciate your down to earth approach on it. I have always considered a Boxster but the IMS bearing issue has inevitably put me off. Has this cropped up in your thoughts when buying this? I would love to hear some content on that and either put it to bed or expose the issue a bit more. Every time someone mentions the Boxster, it invariably ends with IMS and oh no you should not go for it. Any video with this subject would be great
Hope that check engine light is minor...I had a BMW Z4 I sold and would like A Boxster but afraid of IMS etc...Will be interesting seeing how you make out...Do you like driving the Porsche better?
Mate you do make me laugh because sometimes I wonder whether someone has given you a script from my rants because I seem to rant about exactly the same thing as you
Hey Joel, I'm very interested to see how you get on with the Boxster. I'm in the process of selling my TVR Chimaera to buy either a Boxster or a Z4. Heart says Boxster, head says Z4. The Boxster has some well documented issues so will be interesting to see...Great video BTW...
Couldn't agree more with your rant with the fuel situation. if people even used 1% of their own common sense, then this whole situation could've been avoided almost entirely.
Yeah he is not wrong it's ridiculous
Problem with that is that common sense is not common…
Agree massively too
I know a lot of dairy farmers that would be grateful if you could start a rumour that there is going to be a British milk, cheese and butter shortage!
Love the Porsche. Also, nearly at 50k! Well done
Which years should you avoid with the IMS issue?

So true about motorway driving in the uk, utterly shocking nowadays, undertaking ,fast lane bullying by SUV drivers and no distancing between cars.

There is lots of storage but both are a bit warm. The radiators are in front and the engine is in the middle. Not hot but just warm.
Always tempted to get a boxster! Going to enjoy following the vids on this one! 🙌🏻
