Adrian you're spreading misinformation unfortunately. You're using the asgs wrong on the devourer. You can get two full reload cycles in before you have to go back into stealth. You also need to hit them after the dot from the dash is done. Instant kill on most maxed maulers.
I think that's more theoretically. I was in multiple games this morning testing this out and wasn't able to pull it off. Firstly if the Mauler dashes you can't fire - just remember that. If you've already activated your ability that means by the time you can fire you're actually vulnerable and most likely won't get that second round in. I actually tried to time my ability this morning but was also surrounded by two Maulers. By the time I fired the second round I was vaporized instantly. What you described is a "perfect" scenario that would be very hard to pull off consistently.
Also fun fact. With the ASGs, when you miss one round you're losing 519,960 dmg. Rapid in my Patreon chat did some calculations and with VSGs, for you to equal that damage lost you would have to miss 2.86 shots. That means overall the VSGs are more forgiving.
That's not true at all actually. I run the devourer almost exclusively since I got it over my Mauler. Maxed with asgs. I get two volleys consistently before my leech runs out. Yes it's wasted if you miss your first burst, but it's not a perfect rare scenario at all. If you're leeched, the converted damage will kill the other mauler in a multiple titan encounter faster than you'll die. I routinely fight two at once. I actually much prefer the devourer in a Mauler encounter vs another mauler. I will agree It does take patience to watch the dashes but thats not different than any other titan. You can die very quickly if you do not pay attention to your ability, but it's an endless cycle of leech vs stealth if you play it well.
