16:55 yeah boys!! Glad our extinguishers saved another car!! Cheap insurance to always know where your fire extinguisher is!!
This ep is gonna be huge for you guys! Buying one right now haha
@@mw2nubcake we are super proud of this one!! We could never imagine our product being used to save a car in an episode without a beat up script. This is amazing. Thanks so much for buying from us! You are helping a very small Aussie owned business. All our products are completely made right here in Melbourne. My wife and I sell these out of our shed. Thanks!!
Cheers to Bailey for shrugging off that fire and continuing to have a good time! What a great attitude to bring to an expedition!
Thanks mate was hectic - Bailey
@@MaverickCampers Bails, ive been looking for a Camper for a long time bro and after watch this Trip and the torture that trailer went through and stood strong to the end ill be looking at a Maverick.. Regards Chriso

Haha just spittin' facts! :')
Single flip all the way
Driving tip: One from a Kalahari farmer I knew -When driving on soft sand, when you brake to a stop a small mound of sand builds up in front of your tyres. When pulling off this creates extra resistance and may cause you to dig in. so reverse back a meter and pull off from there.
That is exactly how do we it here in the empty quarter desert, gravity is always your friend and enemy so when parked at an incline reverse as you cant climb from stop but if its down it helps with momentum just like a skate ring.
Awesome. Good advice
Young Baily is a Paladin, to be sure. He took his lumps without a whine, and drove the most challenging rig of the bunch, with that trailer in tow. I know it was RnD for the trailer, but I think we will see that Ranger upgraded big time from his experiences on this trip. Well done everyone, that was some wonderful madness!
I think your delusional, he couldn’t even think fast enough to save his own car and was lucky there was some quick thinkers there for him

Such an amazing Father & Son moment with Graham and Jock doing the cape trip together.
Are they father and son? I never knew! Love to follow
@@jessicamelu3353 it’s a joke. But it’s a bit f humour amongst the community.
Driving tip: listen to your 4wd. If it doesn't feel like it usually does or makes a weird sound after a big flex or drop, take the time to source it out so that you don't end up penniless and a broken car. as well as this, if you don't feel confident with your own driving ability or skills for a new track or line, follow someone in who has done it before and learn from experience
Hey mate, Can you shoot us a message on our Instagram. Cheers! 🙌🏻
@@4WD247 yeah no worries
@@4WD247 I'm a big fan of you
Yeah the boys! What a trip
Mate your face when u did gunshot was priceless. 🤣🤣🤙🤙 wikid drive
Best driving tip is to just get out there and practice and learn. Learn the vehicle, how it drives and responds and what its current limits are, learn how to read tracks and predict what the vehicle will do when doing certain obstacles. The best tip is experience
Another awesome video!!! Only thing getting me through my depression these past two years!!! Eternally grateful for all you guys are doing!!! Big love!!
Absolutely loved the excitement when the Mits Alloy boys sent it down gunshot.
Jocko was not messing around when he put the extinguisher through the tailgate glass! I reckon he’s been wanting to do that for sometime! Great work and excellent video!
Don't want to feed a bunch of air to a fire. Just needed enough to get the extinguisher through.
He did bloody well considering what was a at stake! They ALL did a very efficient, safe job 👌🏼🔥🔥Well done lads👌🏼
I think joko needs to start taking his hilux on trips like these so we can see more of his car
i like the pony more than his built up one. yea the big one is cool but the pony is such a sleeper its even better
Either one of his luxes would be good to see
YES
Get graham to take pony and jocko bring the 165 would be even better
shame isuzu pays the bills
Mate the trailer rig guy has all the minerals.
Awesome film I was supposed to be at work but had to watch. Reason I dont go on the tele is I am in England
Driving tip: When you're doing steep descents in low range, like the entry into gunshot, you might struggle with the brakes against the auto transmission. Knock the shifter into neutral and you'll be amazed to find you get control back again!
Yeah my rigs in low overpower the brakes
You know the episode is gonna be good when the boys are already filthy in the introduction scene!! And why is it always when I get up at 1:30 in the morning to use the bathroom, quick check to see if I’ve got any notifications AND a 24/7 video is up! Now I’m glued to the iPad for the next hour and need to get my husband off to work in 4 hours. But, it’s worth it!! Love y’all ❤️
Thanks for watching mate!
Subbed. 🤙🏼
"This is only the second time I've had to use a fire extinguisher on a vehicle". Countless times on a cookup. Lol.
What a bloody episode! Take us back!!
Where is the big 40
Mate that 200 is a monster love seeing it eat up tracks
I thought Clarkson, May and Hammond had awesome jobs on Top Gear and Grand Tour, which I'm sure they do, but you guys seem to have the next best jobs. Such great fun and adventure. Makes me so want to get out and about but need to get a few mods on my stock Navara D40 done first. Great show boys, keep the episodes coming!!
What i learned from this video, is that old landcruisers are amazing, and new landcruisers are amazing.
one of the best, laughed so hard when the trailer went over gunshot! didnt think it was going to make it. well done guys, keep up the good work! LG in Livorno Italy

I absolutely love the show, bunch of solid mates having a good time, in wise ol Graham's words, "can't get any better than this" wish you guys could come to South Africa for an epic time here...
+1 I'd love to see them in the States as well! Travel around and hit some of our "legendary" spots. Moab, Imogene Pass, maybe East Coast spots as well. I know they've got a big following here, could make appearances at some of our 4WD gatherings!
@@danmac247 Would be interested to see how the 4wding and 4wd car culture compares between USA and Australia. I feel like out physically smaller Trucks/utes would be ultimately more practical. But who knows!?
SA and Aus have much the same terrain, and 4bies, but it would be epic...
I'd say south Africa during summer and going to Lesotho in winter cause the snow in the mountains makes it harder than it already is.
When you have time a reverse sear is pretty good...bring up to temp in foil then sear in a full temp pan. Time in foil depends on how you like it cooked inside. If I'm feeling lazy I do the multi flip. My steak is wild Fallow Venison, it has been my only meat for the last 13yrs, I have buggered up many steaks in that time, after ignoring Joe Rogan for a while I tried the reverse sear, now I have mates doing it too...and loving it.
A good mate who can spot
I reverse seared mine in my bedorie oven same as shauns. Then threw it on my hot plate was amazing
Best driving skill advice/ best 4wd advice is to have fun, nothing can go wrong if your having a good time 👍🏻
The best off road I've ever seen man you guys are living the good life! much love and respect ❤
Watching Graham and Jocko’s expression on gunshot as the side view flexed was pure humanity caught on film :-) Great adventure again guys! Thank you!

Farout! I have watched this channel/DVD’s since 2011 with Roothy and Milo 1, and I don’t think I’ve missed any of the RUclips uploads. How good was jocko on the fire straight into the canopy game face on!
I've been trying to figure out the best way to cook a steak for years!! I know the marinade is a big part but your demo has given me much to think about. Man+fire+meat=best camp meal ever. Keep up the good work, lads!

Great adventure, reminded me of some of your older episodes. Amazing to see the old truck make it, it sure flexes a lot. Also the fire part was very thrilling, glad no one got hurt. Cheers.
How full on is that. A fire in the canopy. Not long ago graham was talking about the importance of fire extinguishers in an accessible spot. That all payed off that day. Good job fellas. I run 2 in the same spot as the dmax quick release. I’ve never needed them but this is exactly why they are there. Pro tip periodically check to make sure they are still in date. So when you need them you’ll know theyll be effective.
Well said!!
Graham, you're looking dapper in that old Yota. Nice to see you getting behind the wheel of a proper rig.
Annnnd this is why a fire extinguisher should be the first thing you put in your car. Well done legends on saving his car.
Just grease the worn brake pad/rotor and your good to go. All the other brakes still work and you didn't damage unnecessary parts.
Well or just have the caliper hanging to the side and block the piston with a piece of wood o.s. ... Just need to make sure to tie it somewhere out of the way (on top of the Axle usuallya works pretty damn well...
why bother ? its all going to be replaced anyways.seems a waste or effort really
@@felixgottesburen7294 that was my thought too.
@@geraldroberts1184 metal on metal will get really hot and cause brake fade and if the caliper pushes out too far you can loose all of your fluid.
@@geraldroberts1184 Well simply put, the way the brade disk looks I would not replace it at that point. Instead I would only replace the brakepads and safe some money as brake disks are usually way more expensive and lasting than the pads (eg: my 2018 Hilux ~32€ for the brakepads vs 102€ for the disks All of those being aftermarket parts, shipping excluded). And if you are somewhat unlucky and damage the caliper you either have to rebuild it, which is one hell of an anoying job to be doing, or you need to get a new one, which is gonna cost you quit a bit (~178€ for an aftermarket caliper on my Luxy).
Also what @Travis Mcalister said about possibly loosing fluid is correct. But the possible damage does not even stop there. Worst damage in such a scenario that I have seen so far was on a Hilux used in the mining industry. Shit got so hot it practically cooked the wheelbearing and steel rim. Whilst the rim only shed its paint, the bearing leaked quite a lot of grease and had to be replaced.
So at the end of the day a relatively small trackside repair saves you quite some money. Even more so if you want to use oem parts and/or do not do repairs yourself.
One of the best episodes yet. Time to get my old 80 ready for another trip to, well anywhere
Nice to see Graham handing his keys to his son after all these trips ❤️
Wow Bailey going down the gun shot was crazy!! With the trailer! , of course make the young apprentice take the hard job ahah love it
34:55 the power of the mighty TD42 😀
Best part of the video is the sound of the td42. Should be more td42 patrols on the videos
What another amazing trip and the best thing is that it wasn't a short vid love these longer videos
The MITS canopy would be a dream to own! Feel for the poor fella nearly burning his rig.
My favourite way to cook a steak is to use olive oil salt, pepper, home made steak rub and then the most important step is to cook it in the same paddock it was raised in.
Yes I'm a cattle farmer
Great comment. Sounds like home to me
Steak: The "dirty" steak, but instead of straight to the coals. Find a rock, leave it in the fire for a bit, cook steak on said rock when hot. Same taste as coals, but you don't eat a bunch of dirt :P
28:15 "How ya feelin?"
Shauno: "yep"
Great to see Graham teach his son the finer points of wheeling in the outtakes! 😋😋😋😂😂😂
Good to see the old farm truck 🤙🏽
I love that truck too, what a weapon!
Driving tip particularly for older rigs: during descent a bit of brake at same time as accelerator to maintain traction and help stop wheels sliding. Old school hill descent control...
does braking and gassing at the same time transfer power from a spinning wheel to a stuck wheel in an open diff?

A good episode. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
That little beast of 47 is truly a good example of minimalistic tours and exploring the outback.
And damn that 200 is one big girl 🤩
Aww how sweet, these blokes own version of broke back mountain. Good on you lads for gettin out there and into each other 😇
Awesome trip as usual ya'll!!! I prefer the single flip on an expanded stainless grill where the flame can touch my steak. Gets that nice char along with that wonderful flame kissed flavor. I have however inadvertently tried the "dirty steak". I accidentally dropped a prime cut onto the coals which unfortunately was also full of sand. Me not wanting to waste a good piece of meat, I ate it anyway. Think I not only gave the old ivories a scrub, my colon got a good sand blasting as well lol. Cheers mates!!
A sand blasting...HAHA!
Great episode. I don’t even have a 4wd but I enjoy watching this to imagine how cool the lifestyle would be.
Absalutly love watching your videos! This is the closest I will ever get to 4wheeling in Australia !

What a video, loved watching that all the way here in Ireland. Amazing jourey lads, and that farm truck, what a machine 😃
My one tip is only drive it if you need to in order to get somewhere.
This video is choc full of why I started watching you guys. COVID hasn’t helped but you have been straying from the what we all love a bit.
Good to see graham letting his son drive the dmax 🧔🏻♂️
Like father like son
One day the mighty D-max will be an heirloom passed from father to son :D
Been constantly refreshing youtube for this one.
Been refreshing RUclips for the past hour 😅 can’t wait to watch this episode boys 🤙🏻🤙🏻
It would make an interesting video diagnosing the auxiliary battery fault which caused the fire and also showing how to install an auxiliary 12v battery complete with possible safeguards to prevent that small fire from happening again.
A fuse or breaker in the engine bay should have stopped that.
The next time you do a fish dish, get a nice big Orange, cut it about 3/4 so a 1/4 is left as a lid, hollow the orange out, mix fish chunks with the what you've taken out the orange, then put it all back in the Orange skin, use the 1/4 part as a lid, wrap in foil and place in the fire, 10 to 15 mins, can be served with Rice Pasta or Crusty bread. I've used most of your recopies and loved them all, so thought it about time I shared these. Keep up the Good work.

Get to know your vehicle, don’t fight the wheel or power through, keep a steady foot and air down, no need to bounce through or attack the climbs or water crossings (A local to CapeYork) 🔥🔥🔥👍🏼
If in doubt flat out
@@D1gg3r5 yeah but in Nolan’s that’s not the case😂 it rattles your whole chassis if you go too fast and with high tire pressures
Straight on the coals followed by the single flip.
Done all those methods and resorted to in the coals several times and never disappointed . Flavor is more full and charing on outside with medium rare interior.
an underrated and commonly overlooked driving tip is master your braking, doesn't matter what ur doing on/off road if u cant stop the rig properly

Was a amazing trip 🙌
Cooking a steak: salt the steak with a piece of paper towel both sides of the steak, put on plate and then another plate ontop of the steak (just for a little weight on it). Leave until room temp. This will dry it out nicely.
Salt and pepper LOTS. Bit of olive oil over it. Get your grill / plate hot (near smoking). On.
Turn every 30 seconds. Shorter turns as the steak starts to get to the desired internal temp. This will enable an epic crust.
Rest for 3-5mins.
Destroy.
Top 4x4ing rule: Keep the wheels in the dirt and the roof off of it.
wish we had old 4x4's like the 47 here in the little island of NL, canada. unfortunately the salt gets them here. love seeing the classic's being revived and used like the old days again. Good job bys! love the content as always.
I remember on this trip the 80 got bogged trying to rescue the d-max........I'm happy to see a car passing gunshot without being towed or using a winch congrats guys
Perfect steak in my eyes is; a pan just about the temperature of the sun with a dash of olive oil, drop the steak in and sear on one side for 2 minutes, then flip sides for 3 minutes then turn down the heat to low/med and flip for a further cook of about 5-6 minutes then flip for another 4 cooking then turn off the head and ley sit for 5 minutes before transferring to a pre warmed plate! Comment what you think of this and how you cook your steak(:
Edit; I forgot! A decent dose of pepper with a light dash of salt and cooked rare! C'mon, be a man champs!
That sounds thoroughly overcooked. It’s probably close to done by the second flip, although it’ll depend on the thickness of your steak. Otherwise pretty well what I do, although when I’m doing it in a pan I prefer to flip more often to avoid overheating the contact surfaces. A bit of blackening is good, but too much is too much.
@@gogmorgoaway So overcooked that you might as well eat a bit of old shoe leather. Two minutes a side and you're done...
@@gogmorgoaway I buy meat in bulk and process it myself and i usually cut my steaks about 2-3" thick so you get a nice sear on the outside to seal in the flavour but its also still very rare in the centre(:
