Well it may be getting some attention they will find the steel is so bad. I mean it’s so bad on every clone I’ve ever checked out or cheap cheap knife. I don’t even think it’s heat treated at all, lol. That’s what really matters unless you’re just going to fidget with it or were curious it’s no big loss for $6 . Now someone spending 60+ on a clone or they borrowed design on DHgate you’re not going to get good steel on the blade. Maybe with SMKE or green thorn but I would say the rest of them have been shit I just hate to see anyone make the same mistakes

Thanks Jeff for this video. I saw another YTer who got 2 of these. One was a dud that he took apart. The T9 torx screw stripped out and the only way to get it back together was to use a weird triangle tip driver. So just be aware, the hardware on these seems to be really cheap too. So when you do your dissection vid, there's a chance it won't go back together. Happy thanksgiving to you and Christina!!

Not a huge fan of Ozark trail knives but last year I was in Walmart after Christmas & the guy at the sporting goods counter was marking down all the Ozark trail knives in Christmas packages to $1 a piece. I asked him why he was marking them down he said just because they are in Christmas packages. Even though I'm not a fan I couldn't resist for a buck a piece.

This is a great way to get a taste even though no matter how much your adjust the best possible example they put out it doesn't compare to the real deal but hey EVERYONE starts somewhere so no shame. (EDIT) My local WM finally got these in stock!!... I picked up 3. One for my work toolbox, another for EDC, and a third for spare parts. All 3 are well made, no issues wirh mine. I went to the 3 walmart stores in my area, farthest is 35 minutes away. None of my stores carry any of the 2022 knives, including this one. I'm kind of bummed... but then after watching this I am kind of relieved too. There are 2 more stores about 30~40 minutes away. If I am in the area I will stop by, but at ~$5.50 a gallon I'm not going to make a special trip over there. The real bummer is that these are not available on line either. They seem to be an in-store only thing. But then again after watching this video, this is probably a blessing in disguise. Yours is the second video I have seen where someone bought two and one was a keeper and the other a dud. IIRC blade play was the biggest problem with his dud. So thanks again Jeff, looking forward to your dissection video. Have a happy thanksgiving and holiday season.

FYI, I had to go to a larger store to find this particular knife. Checked two others in my area and they didn't have it. Mine was a little rough out of the package when I opened the blade but the more I use it, the smoother it gets. No blade play on mine either. Like I said in a precious comment, you can't get a better deal for six bucks. Happy Thanksgiving

Whats crazy is I've been carrying an Ozark trail knife for close to 8 months now and I also have all sorts of higher end knives like an ultratech, benchmade griptillian, the mini grip but I was walking my dog beside the road one day and found this knife pressed down in the dirt and I picked it up thinking I could just maybe use the screws and hardware as extras but I figured I'd try carrying the little thing because it actually really was quite ergonomic and comfortable to use and very very light weight also with a pretty thin slicy little blade and I will be buying more of these just to have them because the one I have has been an absolute TANK of a knife to be a cheap $10 Walmart Ozark trail knife, I found the website if any of you all want to check it out, it doesn't have an Axis lock or anything, just a thin liner lock but the scales are recessed and the blade is actually quite good, it's very easy to sharpen and will hold an edge way way longer than I expected, the blade steel is said to be infused somehow with titanium (don't know how they do that) but if you get it broken in and put some good lube on the pivot I swear it is one of my favorite knives, the only issue I have is it's tip down carry only but I'm going to modify it myself to make it tip up carry because they are so cheap it's not really a big deal to start drilling and tapping holes into the scales and steel liners lol, but check this thing out, if they are all made as good as mine is I guarantee you it's value is WAY WAY over $10 or $15 bucks (don't know how much shipping is) but here is the link.

Hey Jeff fear not, you've got a gritty access lock. Take a gun oil and spray a bunch in the lock the work it back and forth. The grit is keeping the lock from pushing all the way up. Now don't get me wrong this is a turd of a knife but mine did the same as yours. Love ya buddy been watching since 2010.

Worked in retail and we would get products recalled due to packaging issues all the time.

I don't understand why anyone buys anything @ Wal-Mart - and a knife where the steel isn't even disclosed. ??...There are plenty of decent, inexpensive knives that can be had from legit knife makers/brands. Don't waste your $6.

$6 is almost free to many people and walmarts are everyone thats why its popular, the steel doesn't even matterb for $6, lol when its dull you just sharpen it...f it breaks you throw it out...There arent many $6 knives from any known makers either...its just too cheap to compete against...

My Walmart has about 10 of them. I don’t care for them. I guess for the price they are okay but I don’t like messing around with a cheap knife. The grip is super cheap, the pocket clip is pretty good, the axis lock is terrible. Mine didn’t work right out of the packaging
