I ran into a resin artist at a renfaire, he said instead of blowing off your molds in the trash, grab another mold and dust the mold onto it and then pour some resin on that. He made some really neat galaxy type pieces using the extra mica of the previous molds. I am going to try it while I am on my crafting vacation! :)

You had me at "can I put a brain in my octopus?" A girl after my own heart! I love him! He's perfect! And the eye color is perfect also! Octopus are my favorite sea animal and they are super intelligent so this is so apropos! Why does he make me think of "Pinky and The Brain"? He looks like he's plotting to take over the world! So cute! Interesting octopus fact: in reality, octopuses don't have a brain in that part of their bodies! Instead, they have a donut-shaped brain that goes around its esophagus (or octopus equivalent), and then a distributed brain that is in their arms! That's why a severed octopus arm that finds food will still try to pass it to the mouth it's no longer connected to!
EDIT: My mistake- they have 9 brains! Such bizarre creatures!

I was worried there for a few mintues when you were trying to get it out, I thought a leg was going to break off...it turned out awesome!
Been watching your videos for a year. I love that you usually include the minutia (to me, at least, as a newbie). Off topic question; my projects never completely cure. I know I'm mixing correctly, weight or volume dep on resin, as I started using magnifier to check levels. But, while they cure 99% at various stages, they're always sticky - even after weeks or months. Not much - less than masking tape, but enough for dust removal only with detergent. Working environment 72-82deg F, humidity less than 75% (usually closer to 50). I even baked one project for 6 hours (170deg) - no luck.
I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Puduo and Enviro Tex Lite and would rather not sink $$$ into another brand if I'm (probably) the cause (both P and E have good reviews from what I've seen). Thank you - and keep up the great projects!

I bought a bag of brains… yep an everyday sentence !
The gold tentacle tips make the piece. I've been watching resin counter and pottery/vase resin as well. One thing they stress is (wet) Resin will go where Resin was. I wonder if brushing resin on tentacle channels first and then doing the main center pour would let the resin self spread to the tips easier? I can never use a t-depressor with the precision you do.

He's kinda cool, isn't he? I wonder if you could put some reddish mica powder on the brain as like, shading? or maybe paint? I think it would really boost the effect. Either way, I think it's cool!

It's really the outside of the brain that's important. Why don't you use a sharp pair of scissors and cut the middle out of the brain, maybe leave half a centimetre to a centimetre around the outside. Then you'll be able to sorta squoosh it around and manipulate it into a smaller space.
I'd probably use a UV resin brushed onto the inside, then when you hold it in place, turn the UV lamp on and you can hold it while it sets.
Anyway, I thought this might be an idea...
Also, did you remember where you got the awesome mold (and the brains). (I'm in AUS too, so probably able to get stuff from the same place).
