They were both good at arranging several dynamic sections across a song, including not only fast, pounding blast beats, but more subtle moments and a good mix of silence (are at least minimal drumming), building anticipation. I still like Martin's stuff, he's an awesome drummer, but I feel like too much of his work is just a full on drum assault throughout the song, it gets kind of monotonous.
I remember seeing your drum clinic tour in Newcastle UK, what a legend! All they asked you in their geordie accents was "Ow fast can u blast in BeePeeMs mate?" You replied "Whatever the song requires, I don't over do it, and want it to fit with the speed and feeling of the song." "Aye mate, but has fast!?" 😂
i guess stamina is not infinite! how many songs did you play before that one? (just saying the speed dropped a bit in the middle ;P) still i always believed that this album and Emperors album of Prometheus The demise of Fire, were like they came from some one else! like even if a band tries to remake that best album... some times an album sounds like it just spawned into existence as is! (well music taste and emmm maturity changes with time... young and fast, old and complex!)
@@MetalNeyth Yes. He is. Martin is an excellent drummer, very fast and technical too. But it lacks a lot of feeling in his drums, there are almost no subtle pauses, change between lightness and weight. Martin likes to play fast and heavy, that's all.
Adrian, the way that you have your toms and cymbals positioned here (and in your COF days videos) seem to be way different from the way you set everything up. Is this the case or just the camera angle?
Adrian Erlandsson I always thought you are one of the greatest drummers of all time. After the show with At the gates in verona... I think you are the best I've ever seen
Midian is still in my top 10 fav. albums of all time. Really like your drum work on this album and dani's lyrics/vocals are insanely creative.Did you record the drums on Midian with a clicktrack btw?
Ouwe Hand Death magick for adepts is incredible. Listening to midian, some tracks like Chtulu dawn sound like he never used a click. Thats my opinion based on what i have listened. By the way, adrian is a really sweet and kind man. I knew him in Verona before the At the gates show!
I read somewhere upon joining cradle he'd never played to a click and had to go on a crash course to record drums for Midian. As the album's passed you can hear his playing is getting super tight and right on the money.i met Adrian when he was doing a drum clinic right on my doorstep and he played to a click along to tracks.very powerful player with this emotion and lovely guy to boot.
still think red in the sky was yours and atg best work. unique, raw and all over the place riff and drum wise without being boring or over technical. so many people disagree with me.
your drumming has ruined metal for me. there's a lot of albums that I think "wow, if only they had a drummer as good as this, the music would be wayyy better."
The Golden Era of Cradle Of Filth has the drumming of Adrian Erlandsson. 💎
great years, Adrian, great drumming... i grew up listening to your work... so Thanks for the influence!
I love Adrians work with Cradle. So fucking beast!! Him and Nick Barker were fucking brilliant with COF!!

I agree..
for me Adrian Erlandsson is the best, not technichally speaking (and he is a monster don' t get me wrong) but in terms of groove and creativity.

This song is very hard for drumming! Too much strength required.
This drummer are better than a new one
No way.

Crazyyyy crrrrradle of Filth!
I can see Roland TD10 Behind you Adrian, I think you get used to trigger right?
Yes it makes it possible for me to have a different bassdrum sound with more attack and definition
