So first or second appearance? 😆
First. Not just because I own 181 and not 180 though....
@@locutus99 heh, for a Wolverine fan they are both significant
That looked like some real delicate work! Good stuff!
Working with that top staple had me sweating 😅
Amazing
Thank you sir. Wish I still had the completely finished after pics. It did end up with white pages
Great video. I like the tip about alternating covers, I think that's a great idea and I'm going to start doing that. I actually have a ASM 299 in the press ready for round 2, gonna switch to the opposite cover. Thanks and keep up the great work!
No problem! I found on silver age especially fighting the excess moisture was really important.
Another 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Much appreciated 🙇♂️
Great work. That takes so much patience.
Thanks! It is for sure not a quick process.
Would you recommend cleaning and pressing a dirty comic that has been signed? One signature was with a ballpoint pen, and the other signature was with a Sharpie.
Yes but just be mindful how you treat the area around the sharpie signature
Do you take the staples out of the book to process the pages and cover? How is this done? How do you reattach the book? Do you use the same staples? Is this restoration?
I do take staples out. I have a flat metal tool to bend them open so they can be removed and reuse the same staples. That is not considered restoration but if you replace staples and they can tell they will flag it as restoration
Thank you for taking the time to answer. This was an intriguing video.
@@TheSameoldjoe thank you for taking the time to check it out 👍
The way you showed concerned for the interior I was expecting you were going to discover that the Marvel Value Stamp was cut out and not indicated on the label.
That would have been WAY worse!
How long do you let your book sit before removing the overlay? Fresh off the press and still warm or cool to room temp in the press?
I remove the book and overlay after 1 hour
what did you soak that page in? and is that paper that you soaked the same type of paper that you put over it (the copy paper)?
I use hydrogen peroxide on the page and then, yes it is the same copy paper copy paper
@@hobbyhero6973 thx for the reply my dude! I do the blue light cage, and dry cleaning but I have as of yet to try the technique that you;re showing here. I will try it in the coming days.
@@bobsmith1520 let me know if you run into any issues
@@hobbyhero6973 so I just completed my first attempt of using the HOP and the double HOP, and it's AMAZING how much gunk/yellowing I'm pulling off my books. Your videos have been incredibly helpful in making sure I'm taking the proper steps. I'm also trying to pull a letter written in blue ballpoint pen off the cover of a comic now, I'm about to try the HOP method to pull that off. Got any suggestions?
@@bobsmith1520 glad they are helping! Pen is usually permanent. If it’s all in white you can sometimes make improvements on it but it’s pretty hard on the paper.
