You know it would have been funnier if near the end George I started to speak in French, which both of them knew and how George I actually spoke to his ministers.
Interesting fact Queen Victoria and Prince Albert also loved Germany so much that Queen Victoria wanted to live there. She also loved spending most her time there.
Out of all those ladies who swooned before him and would do anything for him, you'd think he'd find one that spoke German and make her stand behind him and interpret all the time. After all, she wouldn't want her husband to be killed...
For those wondering, the reason George became king at all is because he was the closest Protestant relative to Queen Anne and England was dead set on not having another Catholic ruler. George was the great-grandson on James I
And all because they couldn't tolerate that King Charles II's brother, James, who succeeded him after his death, was Catholic. William and Mary couldn't have children and Anne's children didn't survive. So they imported a king.
Me ten years ago (+/-): that is my favourite Horrible histories sketch. I don't know the show or the actors only what is on RUclips but that is the best!
"Ich verstehe nicht, was das war, aber er war traurig, und jetzt er ist freudlich, also habe ich es gut gemacht" - what George I is thinking as this skit ends, probably.
@LittleDirtyBlonde23 actuallt, George II was also born and raised in Germany. unlike his dad though, he was more willing to associate with the English (partly b/c he hated his dad-long story there), and learned to speak good English-though with an accent. it wasn't until George III that a King of that dynasty could be said as being born and raised in England.

The British Royal Family - my favorite bunch of Germans!
I can´t help but notice Walpole had that document with him the entire time. He was just waiting for the moment to take control.

Ben is too adorable for his own good.
Ben Willbond actually pronounces the German pretty well
Same here i love it when Ben says "Ich liebe Deutschland"
I love when Walpole says 'power' in body language.

Just like the German composer, Handel spent most of his time in England and lived the same time as George I
The rat is my favourite historian. :)
