[Cover] Devin Townsend Project - Fallout

- 2022 UPDATE: So this is a really old cover that I definitely rushed out when the song dropped so I could get ahead on views. So it's not really all that great. I plan on revisiting it one day, but who knows when that'll be. But stay tuned for a better version eventually!
Expect quite a few more from these two discs down the pipeline in the near future. If I had to guess which will be next, I'd say it's most likely Ziltoidian Empire. Next from Sky Blue will probably either be Warrior or Silent Militia.
This track REALLY stuck out to me. It's a lot of fun to play and listen to, and the best part? There are two versions! One is sung by Devin and the other is by Anneke, and I have to say the Devin version is vastly superior to me, simply because Devy's voice is far more powerful in this song than Anneke's are.

Want to know my thoughts on the album? Well you're not going to be surprised but I absolutely love both discs, Sky Blue and Dark Matters. Although I have to say that Sky Blue is probably my preferred disc of the two. I love the theatric theme of Dark Matters, but Sky Blue feels like a mixture of Epicloud and Devin's style from the mid 2000s (which if you know anything about me, mid 2000s devy is my favorite devy)
I later read Devin wrote Sky Blue kinda haphazardly, and that it was basically kinda shat out because he felt the need to, and I think it speaks volumes for how much I love an artist when they can do that and I love the album. I don't think it's a secret to anyone that I'm a huge fanboy, so maybe this review is really silly for me to type out, but who knows maybe some poor soul out there gives a shit what some random guitar player on the internet thinks

I am also a long time Devin fan and I think Sky Blue is just pure magic. it is now by far my favorite album of all time by anyone! I think it might be because it was as you mentioned just shat out and perhaps because he wasn't trying TOO hard or perhaps it was just soooo from the heart that it is so fantastic but this album is HUGE! I have hardly even listened to Dark Matters because I still haven't stopped listening to Sky Blue every day from release day.
The first time I listened to it I felt like it had a rushed vibe to it, but the more and more I listened, the more I really opened up to it and realized that it's honestly one of his best releases in years and that's saying something because he's had nothing but good releases. It feels like a good mix of new and old, with some songs like Midnight Sun feeling like a love letter to those of us who really loved Accelerated Evolution
Overall, I think just as much of it as you do, and I wish I could listen to it more often but when I get to "Before We Die" I always want to cry by the end lol
Wonderful job, man. Been listening to these albums relentlessly. Hope all is well, and I can't wait to hear your next cover.

Tyler M Yeah, Dev's is my favorite though. I'm glad both versions are available though. Too many bands do alternate versions of songs and never release them till later.

There's a video on youtube with his vocals on it. The Devin vocals came from the leaked version of the album I picked up a week prior to the actual release.

Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about tabbing something out. However, yes, you are correct, the tuning is CGCGCE. I just used my 7 string for this because I had it in that tuning

Not at the moment. Everything I post on this channel is mostly learned by ear, and if this is anything like any of Devin's other music, it'll be a good year or so before someone tabs the whole thing out.
