[Cover] Devin Townsend Project - Universal Flame (REDUX)
Not to get all personal here but I've had a rough few months. Every time it looks like things are calming down, something else happens. Needed an uplifting song, and this one's always a good one to go back to. After giving it a couple listens, I decided to try and learn it again, properly this time.
Tuning is open C major (CGCGCE).
The thumbnail text says: "The old version of this cover was super not good because I was eager to get it done and uploaded way ahead of anyone else so I didn't do several parts including all of the leads in favor of doing the very bare bones rhythm I could fiure out by ear but now here's a new video cover of this song and I think this one will do the song justice...

I started learning this song back on Saturday. There's a few sloppy bits here and there still, but this song is ridiculously hard so I'm not going to go for a perfect run. Tuning is Eb Standard.

Awesome cover This is one of my favorite All time songs from devin townsend Hes a very underrated musician and artist, and this song is very underrated. Not a lot of people know about this song and I wish more people would react to it. Because this is a really good song.

Do you give lessons Morgan? What is your process when you want to learn a new track?
I do not give lessons at the moment, but it's something I might explore in the future, and if I do, I'll be certain to announce it. My process for learning a track is pretty loose, honestly. Sometimes, I'll listen to a song, and eventually there'll be a riff in it that I can visualize without actually having played it first. I refine that riff, and then I keep deciding what parts of the song to learn from there, often just deciding to start from the beginning and work my way up after the fact. If the song is too hard to pick out by ear, I'll use a site like songsterr or ultimate guitar to look up a tab to get me started. Thank you for your comments! <3

@@Yrkib you didn't lose anything actually the rest of their plug-ins are just copy of Gojira and Nameless! That's one of the things that made me change my idea about Neural DSP

Definitely "Universal Mind," the first one. I started trying to do that back at the beginning of 2021, and after months of doing it on and off, I was finally able to do it, even though I kind of fall apart at the end lol

Watched it, all the way. 🙂Without context some of the solos fall flat, but still they were varied enough to be interesting. I am personally more into solos with more "flow", such as Eruption or Too far Gone by Annihilator. But, yeah, post whatever you like, it is fun to watch.

Great! Haven’t heard the original, and I did not find this to be very fast. But since I thought it was reaaly good, I am hesitant to listen to the original. It will surely be too slow. If you want a challenge, try Annihilator’s Pride.
