While observing the mysterious crystals, the Toads came up with the idea of introducing new sports to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Toads also arrange tournaments for the four sports. The best players of the tournament earn a prize: one of the four crystals that fell from the sky. Mario, his friends, and his foes are prepared to play and find out who are the best participants in the Mushroom Kingdom.
After acquiring all of the crystals, Mario and his team were delighted to have been crowned the ultimate sports champions of Mushroom Kingdom... that is, until the crystals strangely morphed back together into one giant dark crystal, filled with a most terrifying aura. It floats eerily into space, creating a black hole and sucking in the airship, along with Mario and his team. Laying in wait appears their most formidable opponent yet, The Behemoth, ready to destroy everyone and everything crossing its path. Mario and his team readies themselves with their sports prowess in an all-out boss battle!
Ya know, if Mario Sports Superstars had these special characters return, I think the game would’ve been slightly better. It was very interesting to play as characters from either Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.
People always complain about the Mario sports games being shit now which they are, but no one ever appreciated how good the old Mario sports games were, like this one
I’m inclined to agree since the switch sports games are almost soulless. It sucks that games like these didn’t get the attention or recognition it deserved but unfortunately, that’s just a products of either being spoiled or having other games that may had more to offer despite games like these still being good despite their flaws. I can understand that this game isn’t for many when others like tennis and baseball existed on the wii(particularly strikers charged), but it’s not fair to this game to be forgotten like it is.

After beating all 4 of those mushroom cups, you skipped all flower cups and almost all star cups and sports mix mushroom cup and went straight to the sports mix star cup. Why did you do that?
