The dynamic, playful and video of the mad bang and lunch box is amazing. Kyosho also wants you to study this dynamic video, right? Your footage is amazingly fun. thank you.
Hiya Mikael. Yeah what I did with this was to write down all the things I wanted to say and then record the voice track without any video. I then went through and found clips that went with what I was saying. Also the voice audio is better with the USB mic than the GoPro mic. Anyway many thanks for your kind feedback. Much appreciated my friend 😁
Hi there. I must say I've not opened the diffs. Possibly a good idea to use a thicker oil. Hope you get on ok with it. Don't know if you've seen my recent video about the front drive cups? A possible weak point on these. Many thanks for your comments 😁
Hi. Quick question on 2s vs 3s please. I know this is sold as a 2s car but apparently the ESC can tolerate 3s? I already have plenty of 3s batteries, so rather than having to buy a 2s just for this, could I not use a 3s, and then just turn down the throttle dual rate to bring the speed / electrical load back down to behaving like a 2s car (and it will then last longer for trail runs). I run my 'pretty' cars fairly gently, so I'm not worried about getting max speeds or straining the diffs. Is my logic ok, or am I missing something? Thanks 👍
Hi there. I never tried 3s in this as I didn't have one slim enough to fit in but your logic about using one and turning down the throttle sounds good. I did get rid of this after a while as the plastic drive cups shred a bit too easily. There is an upgrade available at a price. Good luck 👍
@PeteWylieRC ... cheers buddy. Yeah, some of the reviews do seem to suggest they are a bit fragile, both on chewing the cups and also stripping the ring gears. I have some cars I don't mind going hard on and other more shelf queen types that would just get fairly gentle runs in a large carpark or smooth beach, so I figure that if I baby this one, I might get away with it. Thanks again for responding.
Yay! My comment got posted! Sorry mate, I've been leaving short messages because 90% of my comments over the last week or so have been deleted - lots of other channels have said that they haven't got my messages, too! :-/ So now I think I can write something (hehe but you did say to just say hello in the description!) What a very thorough and entertaining review - I would say that overall this is a very fine RC to own. Does a lot of things very well, with only a few minor drawbacks. Excellent running footage and cool slomo shots, my mate. Good idea to compare it to a couple of other RC's. If it were cheaper (and I had any money!) I'd definitely think about getting one. Anyway, enjoy Sunday, I assume we will both be watching the tele later, even if we're not crazy football fans! 😎
Hiya matey. That's annoying about the comments getting lost. The same thing happened with comments that Derek left me on another video. I got a notification saying that there was a comment and when I go to the video it isn't there. I don't know what the answer is. Anyway many thanks for your comments now that they are here. This RC is good in that it's the same sort of weight as the Tamiyas so can run with them without smashing them up like the heavy Arrma's. Rob will have to watch out when you have your Agrios. I think that will flatten everything. Yes I will be watching the football later. Whatever the result I probably won't watch any more football until England are in another big contest. Enjoy the rest of Sunday mate. Best wishes to you 😁
Hi there. Yeah this is a fun RC. I did have that problem with the drive cup that you might have seen on another video. Other than that all good so far. Many thanks for your comments 😀

You aren’t lying about the tires being unbalanced! Ha. Maybe it’s partly because it has a flexible chasity and the tires are heavy comparatively, but it shakes like it wants to tear itself apart! Ha. Super fun rc.
Hi Pete, if I had one of those nuts mad vans I’d buy the L&L models Ford transit van body shell for it and keep the original shell good. Niiiiiiiiiiice video man. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
Awesome video Pete!!! Love the body you put on the Kyosho Mad Van, "Watch out for the Pooch"!! lol. Now to fit some Lunch Box rear wheels & tires on a TT-02 chassis with a "truck/van" body on it & give that a go!!!!!
Hi there. Ha yeah we didn't run over the dog. You could put big wheels on a TT-02B but the plastic bevel gears are not really up to it. My mate did that with his TT-02B and those gears don't last long. I've got metal gears in my TT-02B but they were really expensive. The Mad Van isn't a bad price when you think about how much it would cost to hop up a TT-02B with the gears and drive shaft etc. Anyway, many thanks for watching and your comments. Much appreciated 😁
I have one of these and I love it only problem is the cups do wear out pretty fast and parts are hard to get. But apart from that it's an awesome truck I love it and very fast
Hi there. Yeah those drive cups are a bit of an issue. I did sell this one after about a year but if I'd have kept it I might have looked into the metal ones although they are pricey. Many thanks indeed for watching and your great feedback. Much appreciated 😁👍
I only ever tested the Granite on 3s lipo and I got 46mph. I've only used the Mad Van on 2s which goes about 35mph. Not planning to use the Mad Van on 3s as I've seen people breaking the gears.
Hi there. Yes it is one where you need to decide how much you are going to beat it. The bug body shell I'm using is a good way to preserve the van body. Many thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated 😁
Cracking video Peter. I bought one in June and have encountered pretty much all the same issues you ve mentioned here. I tried it on 3s and stripped the spur in seconds, replaced it with the upgraded one and also upgraded the pinion. I ve lost 3 drive shafts where they popped out on impact and could nt find them, this morning I ve fitted the upgraded ones at a cost of £90. The body, yes it s looking a bit battered with a missing light bucket,I bought the clear body and sprayed it myself in mettalic purple I did nt fit the rear light buckets and just used the decal ones. Would I recommend it based on these issues? You re damn right I would! It’s so much fun to drive but you need to upgrade certain parts. I ll be posting a video on my channel in the near future👍👍😀
Hi there. Yeah I think that 3s is too much for this one and it sounds like you've proved that! The handling is really nice on this so worth persevering with some upgrades. Those drive shafts are blooming expensive though. The thing I find most annoying is the screechy noise the gearbox makes. I'm still not sure if there is something wrong with mine although I can't find anything. I think that over all I'd go for the Arrma Granite though as it's a very tough bit of kit and also really great to drive. Many thanks for your comments. I'll keep an eye out for your video 😁
Hi Peter, The drive shafts are a bit pricey but for me I think they re worth it,nothing worse than going out and five mins in they pop out and get lost,a lot easier to do than the drive cups, they were a royal pain! Hey,I m no expert Peter,I only bought my first Rc in dec but you learn quick do nt you?😂😂 My gearbox is the same mate, when I replaced the spur and pinion I removed the dif covers to check them,I was very surprised to find hardly any grease, all I had was the basic general white grease so I plastered the dif, spur and pinion and crossed my fingers,it’s a lot quieter now and so far no issues, like I said,I m a beginner but this is just my findings mate. Thanks for replying buddy👍👍😀
@@pauljag900sticksrc9 Yeah I may end up buying some of the drive shafts to remove that aggravation. I did grease all the gears but it's still a very noisy RC. Apart from that all good. Thanks again for your comments 😁
Hi Pete, hope you’re keeping well. Great review and comparison to the Arrma Granite and Tamiya Lunchbox. Think looks wise, the Kyosho Mad Van has it, but durability definitely goes to the Arrma Granite, and cuteness to the Tamiya Lunchbox. Shame to body on the Kyosho Mad Van is expensive, and I suppose, it would have been nice if Kyosho provided the kit, so that you can paint the body you’re own way, rather than the same ready to run colours. Our hobby is all about creativity and expression of artistic flare. The Kyosho seems overall good and a worthy contender. As always, great video editing and presentation. Great stuff. All the best my friend and take care👌😉
Hiya John. Yeah it would be good as a kit and Kyosho obviously do a lot of kits so it's a possibility. I don't think that it's possible to get the finish that they got by using Tamiya paints. The problem with the pre painted one is that they currently only do that colour so no good if your friend has one too. Anyway I need to check in on the next part of your tiny kit. Hope that's going well. Many thanks for your comments my friend. Hope all is well with you 😁
@@PeteWylieRC Hi Pete, thank you bud. The Orlandoo Hunter is nearly finished, I’ve got the step 30 of the chassis, which is chassis complete, but had to do some soldering of the tiny SMD LED’s and distribution board, along with a diode test for each of the front, side and rear LED’s. So that is also complete. I’ve painted the body and installed the body details. I’ve painted the wheels and installed the tyres. Last few steps are to install the integrated receiver, ESC, light and sound unit, speaker and perform the marriage ceremony ( body & chassis coming together as one ), setup and then reveal and enjoy. Great little model, complete with 4 channel transmitter that can handle multiple models of 1/18 scale or smaller. I’ll reveal the chassis & body soon. Take care and all the best 😉👌😁
Very nice review mate. The body is a lot better than the brushed version so you'd have to go for this one out of the two. Hope all is well with you and yours dude.
Hiya Rob. Yeah this one does look the business for sure. Definitely wouldn't buy a spare body set at that price so I'd better look after this one. Many thanks for your comments mate. Hope all is well 😃

Good run video and review! You mentioned that it can run 3s as well, have you tried it on 3s? What kind of speeds would you say you are getting on 2s and 3s? Love the scale look of the body but I would definitely have to run it with a different bashing body, the original looks too good, nice run brother see you on the next one👍👊
Hi there. I haven't tried 3s in it. I don't really want to smash this one up. It's just a light basher. I saw someone getting about 35mph on 2s. I might do a speed test with the basher bug body in case of crashes. Many thanks for watching my friend. Much appreciated 😁

Yeah I'm not sure why they are like that but it's ok in use generally. Yes a good fun RC all round. Thanks for your comments 😀
Can’t find a mad van in Japan 😩 love the New Forest footage 👊🏻👍🏻
That's a bit of a surprise! Yeah the New Forest is a great place for RC. Many thanks for watching and your comments 😁
Really well balanced review mate. You nailed it. Thanks for the video.
Hi there. Many thanks indeed for your kind comments. Much appreciated 😁
Thanks for the great content. I really enjoy your videos
Many thanks for your great feedback :-)
Hi Pete, if I had one of those nuts mad vans I’d buy the L&L models Ford transit van body shell for it and keep the original shell good. Niiiiiiiiiiice video man. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
Hi there. Yeah be good to get another van shell as a basher. Many thanks for your comments. Much appreciated 😁
Which is faster the four wheel drive granite or the other.
I only ever tested the Granite on 3s lipo and I got 46mph. I've only used the Mad Van on 2s which goes about 35mph. Not planning to use the Mad Van on 3s as I've seen people breaking the gears.
I would really like to get one of these , the only problem is the body is so nice I’m going to feel guilty about beating it up . Cool video Pete
Hi there. Yes it is one where you need to decide how much you are going to beat it. The bug body shell I'm using is a good way to preserve the van body. Many thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated 😁
@@PeteWylieRC what bug shell is that I couldn't quite catch it in the video after a few repeats.
@@uploadtime1780 hi there. It's an FTX Bugsta shell 😀
Lunch box handles better and the midnight pumpkin handles better than a hornet and a grasshopper.
Yeah I think that the squashy tyres on the Lunchbox make it run better than the hoppers.
Great comparsion and review.
Many thanks indeed. Much appreciated 😁
That's a good and to-the-point review! I think it's a cool RC car but I'll probably not be getting it, there is so much other stuff, ha ha!
Oh yes there are always plenty of things to spend money on! Many thanks for your great comments 😁
The body, yes it s looking a bit battered with a missing light bucket,I bought the clear body and sprayed it myself in mettalic purple
I did nt fit the rear light buckets and just used the decal ones.
Hi Peter,
The drive shafts are a bit pricey but for me I think they re worth it,nothing worse than going out and five mins in they pop out and get lost,a lot easier to do than the drive cups, they were a royal pain!
Hey,I m no expert Peter,I only bought my first Rc in dec but you learn quick do nt you?😂😂
My gearbox is the same mate, when I replaced the spur and pinion I removed the dif covers to check them,I was very surprised to find hardly any grease, all I had was the basic general white grease so I plastered the dif, spur and pinion and crossed my fingers,it’s a lot quieter now and so far no issues, like I said,I m a beginner but this is just my findings mate.
Hope all is well 😃
Got mine today, the motor pinion stripped itself after 10mins of running but I still love how it looks👍🏻
Oh dear that isn't good. I did put a bit of grease on my pinion and spur because I wasn't keen on the noise from the gears. Still noisy but no gears broken so far. I hope that this isn't going to be a troublesome RC. Thanks for your feedback :-)
@@PeteWylieRC yeah it was literally to test everything out before I was gonna strip it down and grease everything🙈
Paying that much and having to fix it right away is nonsense. Looks like I'll be looking for something else
@@GodWeenSatan it’s a great rc truck, just needs a bit of tlc to ensure it runs smoothly.👍🏻
I forgot are you going to get yourself a super avante TD4?
Hi Brad. I wasn't planning to. Looks interesting but rather pricey.
I seen another review on youtube of the Mad Van and they got it up to 51mph on 3s
Didn't see that but thanks for the info. I think that generally 2s is plenty with this one 😁
Hello Pete! :o)

Many thanks indeed 😁
The giant hole in the rear was a deal breaker for me.
Oh yeah it's a shame about that. Thanks for watching and your feedback 👍👍
I love mine but the brakes are shocking and can't get them to adjust
I did adjust the brakes on the ESC. Can't remember the sequence of button pushes but I can have a look.
PUT A 1/10 LUNCHBOX BODY ON THE MAD VAN CHASSIS!!!
Hi there. Ah yeah I did try it for size but the Mad Van is much longer than the Lunchbox so that's not a goer unfortunately. Many thanks indeed for watching and your feedback 😁👍
Not crazy about plastic drive cups.
No they could have done with putting metal ones on. Thanks for your comments 😀
I have already (as have many others) broken teeth off of my front diff ring gear already 😣
Oh dear so the metal gears aren't as robust as I'd hoped. I'd better take it easy on this then. Many thanks for the info.
@@PeteWylieRC it seems if you shim it properly they are fine.
@@jrigg77 oh right, I'll have a look. Many thanks 😁
I was also thinking of loosening the slipper to make sure that it slips before the gears teeth shread when the front wheels are jolted.
Not worth buying.
Buy esrlier version and put in brushless system.
If you won't break it. If you break, be prepared for long delivery time of parts.
Yeah I did wonder about spares availability. Many thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated 😁
